LA Galaxy History

The LA Galaxy have been playing since Major League Soccer launched in 1996. After topping the Western Conference in the league’s inaugural season, the Galaxy led the conference twice more before they clinched their first MLS Cup in 2002 against the New England Revolution. History would repeat itself in 2005, when they emerged victorious over the Revolution for their second MLS Cup.

From 2007 to 2012, British football legend David Beckham joined the Galaxy, and in short order, pushed the club to two MLS Cup victories, in 2011 and 2012. Even after Beckham's departure, the Galaxy continued to shine. After winning the Cup over the Revolution again in 2014, the Galaxy became the first team in the league to nab the championship five times. The Galaxy furthered their league championship record with a sixth MLS Cup win in 2024. Overall, the LA Galaxy have earned four Supporters’ Shields, two U.S. Open Cup titles and the 2000 CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Among the Galaxy’s alumni are three MLS MVP winners: Carlos Ruiz (2002), Landon Donovan (2009) and Robbie Keane (2014). In 2015, the award was renamed the Landon Donovan MVP Award to honor the decorated All-Star midfielder’s career. Donovan also earned the Golden Boot as the league’s leading scorer in 2008.

In 2023, the Galaxy helped set the MLS single match attendance record at 82,110 in an annual "El Tráfico" rivalry match against Los Angeles FC at the Rose Bowl on July 4.

I really like the way that you can choose your tickets through ticketmaster using the seating chart from the stadium. It was easy to choose your seating and the seating section was great. Most of all galaxy won 2-1 which made it more enjoyable. I had a blast with family.

The game was great and the seats and weather we had were terrific. My Daughter and I will most likely do this again.

  • Fabulous

by Eeyore1958 on 7/11/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 5 out of 5

Great game! Both of the stars scored - Donovan and Beckham. Beckham was particularly fabulous. That guy can still fly even in his mid 30's. And to top that off, the guy next to me happened to be a cast member of the TV series - Glee. So I got to watch great soccer and rub elbows with Hollywood. Not bad for a hick from Alaska!

  • Galaxy all stars were remarkable

Our family loves to watch soccer and getting to see this level of talent in person was such a treat. The venue was great- clean, family friendly & affordable. The fans added so much to the experience. LOVED IT!! We would be season ticket holders if we lived in the area.

  • parking sucks!

by Anonymous on 7/7/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 1 out of 5

I went for the fireworks and just to watch the fireworks we had to go outside the stadium and over to the tennis stadium to watch the fireworks. While there, those who left the game earlier to watch the fireworks got good seats, others who watched the whole game and didnt leave early got there to find terrible seats and began arguing over the good seats with the better views. Also, the worst thing was getting out. It took me one hour to move! one hour to leave the parking lot! It was a nightmare! You would think that after doing this for the last 10 years or so and doing it every other weekend when the galaxy play that at least exiting the home depot center would go smoothly but it didnt. I'm never going to another 4th of July game ever again and I'm never going to another galaxy game ever again. Thanks for a terrible time!

  • Good game, ties are awful

by Rockconcertgoeratmusical on 7/6/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 4 out of 5

The game was great, stadium was great, fans were awesome, and the fireworks show was amazing. That being said, it would be 5 star if MLS didnt let teams tie without even an overtime or shootout. Boo MLS

  • Good Venue, Gross Food

by BlankityBlank on 7/6/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 3 out of 5

I like the Home Depot Center, but their food is awful! It's all hot dogs on white buns, fried chicken and fries. I'm not a calorie counter but I like to stay healthy... can we at least get a grilled chicken on a wheat bun? Next time I'll be sure to eat before watching the game.

  • Exciting Match

by YvonWien on 7/6/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 4 out of 5

Exciting match as both teams were very positive on attacking. Superb Save on the penalty, but a pity that LA did not score eventually. Beckham was sitting on the bench for too long.

Galaxy could of done a lot better. I feel they didn't put 100%. there was no excitement. I feel bad for their injuries though.

  • LA Galaxy @ HDC

by IESoccerFan on 7/6/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 4 out of 5

Went for an awesome fire works show and a good soccer game broke out! The LA Galaxy and the Home Depot Center both provide an excellent soccer experience in Southern California. Where else can you purchase a "General Admission" ticket and sit one row from the field (north End Line). Saw Seattle Sounder FC goalkeeper Kasey Keller, one of the greatest goal keepers in the history of US Men's National Team. Saw a slimmed down Drew Carey, minority owner of the Seattle Sounder FC team. Spoke with soccer super star David Beckham. Enjoyed one of the best fire works displays in Southern California.
