LA Galaxy History

The LA Galaxy have been playing since Major League Soccer launched in 1996. After topping the Western Conference in the league’s inaugural season, the Galaxy led the conference twice more before they clinched their first MLS Cup in 2002 against the New England Revolution. History would repeat itself in 2005, when they emerged victorious over the Revolution for their second MLS Cup.

From 2007 to 2012, British football legend David Beckham joined the Galaxy, and in short order, pushed the club to two MLS Cup victories, in 2011 and 2012. Even after Beckham's departure, the Galaxy continued to shine. After winning the Cup over the Revolution again in 2014, the Galaxy became the first team in the league to nab the championship five times. The Galaxy furthered their league championship record with a sixth MLS Cup win in 2024. Overall, the LA Galaxy have earned four Supporters’ Shields, two U.S. Open Cup titles and the 2000 CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Among the Galaxy’s alumni are three MLS MVP winners: Carlos Ruiz (2002), Landon Donovan (2009) and Robbie Keane (2014). In 2015, the award was renamed the Landon Donovan MVP Award to honor the decorated All-Star midfielder’s career. Donovan also earned the Golden Boot as the league’s leading scorer in 2008.

In 2023, the Galaxy helped set the MLS single match attendance record at 82,110 in an annual "El Tráfico" rivalry match against Los Angeles FC at the Rose Bowl on July 4.

  • everything great but exit parking and food choices

by mwunsch on 7/26/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 4 out of 5

All was great, except for nutritional food choices and exit parking. Veterans of the parking situation are ahead of the game, next time, I know where to park. The parking staff arre about zero help.

  • City wins in pk's

I could find nothing to complain about besides my sunburn. However, this was my fault...should have brought the sunblock :)

  • City for the win

by jwhite1 on 7/26/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 4 out of 5

Great crowd (at least in the City section). Seats were good and I saved a girl from falling down as we were leaving. All around cool.

  • The match was brilliant

by anniep47 on 7/26/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 4 out of 5

The game was as exciting, however, I thought both teams didn't play to their full potential. Also the prices of EVERYTHING were outrageously high and expensive.

  • Easy and cool

by Pen27 on 7/26/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 5 out of 5

The tickets were easy to get even two days before the game. The seating was awesome all around. You can see the whole field. There was shade where we were sitting so it was nice and cool. You could also stand and watch from the sides of the field if you chose to. The parking wasn't great. They need to build a parking structure or something, we had to park in the dirt at the college, but I had a truck so it wasn't a problem for me. The walk from the car to the stadium was about average. What I loved most was it wasn't crowded though there was a lot of people. The stadium was very open. There were tons of restrooms. The food and drinks were very easy to get. I would totally do it again. It's much easy to get around than the staples center, Angels, and Dodgers.

  • Watching the LA GALAXY is always a good time!

by LeonaG on 7/26/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 5 out of 5

I've never been to a LA Galaxy game where I didn't have good seats. At 1:00pm I was wondering if I finally got those seats ( section 136 row J ) it was hot, and the angle didn't seem all that great. AND THEN, Mike Magee put in the equalizer- that man is a stud!- and we ended up doing Penalty shots in the end ...up close and personal is where I was at! The seats ended up being the place to be!

  • Fun at the HomeDepot Center with Man City

The game between ManCity vs Galaxy was a good time at a good venue. I recommend this venue for any soccer match!

getting in and out of the parking lot. I've had better experiences in NYC at the Meadowlands than at the Home Depot Center. A bunch of high school kids directing traffic...

I absolutely loved attending this game. A lifetime soccer player and avid supporter of the MLS, I had a blast. I can't wait to attend the next game!

It was a good game specially when they went into penalties.

For our first time pro soccer game, it was and interesting and enjoyable experience. The stadium is just the right size and the crowd is very enthusiastic. Long walk from where one parks is the only downside. Staff was great.

by ajmcfc on 7/26/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 5 out of 5

this was the first professional soccer game for me I enjoyed the entire experience. getting to the Home Depot Center was easy, parking was good, getting in and to the seats was quick and easy. The only issue I had was leaving the parking lot. It took almost 30 minutes of just sitting, not even moving------once we were told of another exit it was fine. I would go again

  • LA Galaxy vs. Manchester City

by mark949 on 7/26/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 4 out of 5

Only issue is that security is non-existent when fans become unruly. A few fights almost broke out but luckily nothing happened.

  • Awesome game

  • Great Venue! Fun time

by warpdesign on 7/22/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 5 out of 5

Seeing a Galaxy game for the first time was awesome. The Home Depot center is a great venue. Pretty much every seat in the house is a good seat. The atmosphere is great. Pretty laid back atmosphere, good for families, but also a great fan vibe. My only complaint is the food! Terrible food options at Home Depot center. Worst stadium food I've ever seen/had! Eat before the game if you can...

  • 1st MLS game

by JGD10 on 7/22/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 5 out of 5

This was our 1st MLS game and it was great! Beckman's corner kicks and Donovan's moves were awesome. We were at the goal end of the stadium and the crowd was very rowdy, good stuff!!
