Honestly, if it was in town longer, I think we would have gone to see it again. GREAT show!
It was spectacular and I highly recommend it! Lilly Whiteass was also hilarious!
Excellent cast, but Christoper Siebert as Albin alone is worth the price of admission!
I was with 3 other people attending this event and we all thought that the play was not very good. George Hamilton needs to retire. He did not add any personality to the play. He can't sing nor can he dance. We did think that Chris Sieber added the most- he was believeable in his part and we enjoyed him. I would not recommend this particular play to anyone.
My wife and I got lucky and got front row seats for this play at the Bob Carr in Orlando. It was one if the best performances we have seen. Great songs, great acting, and lots of emotion. We really wanted to go because we like George Hamilton, but even though he was why we went, the other performers were very good as well. Go see it! I know It's a "gay" theme but we're straight seniors and we loved it.
I was totally impressed with Chris Seiber's performance. He seemed really into his character and portrayed him/her to perfection. George Hamilton was, at times, difficult to understand but I think he was probably let down by the notoriously poor acoustics of the venue. As a whole, the musical was a joy.
I had an absolute blast when I went to see the show! What a fun night!
We had major "nosebleed" seats but the production was terrific and we were thoroughly entertained from the opening "warm up" until the finale. There was certainly no problem hearing every word. The costumes were great and the dancing out of this world. Folks in the next seat who'd seen it on Broadway said it only fell short because of the size of the stage. That's pretty impressive in my book.
Christopher Sieber was outstanding! He was funny, poignant, and in great voice. George Hamilton was suave, charming. The cast was outstanding. Would recommend to anyone.
Show well done! We had a great time at the show. George Hamilton did a great job but I have to say he was over shadowed by Christopher Sieber. Christopher made that show his own. Also the maid was great too. What a fun part to play. Would love to see it again. The pre-show entertainment Lily Whiteass was Awesome. Great way to get the crowd going. She would be a show all by herself.
Bob Carr is so terribly outdated and accoustics are dreadful even 5 rows from the stage. Had to struggle to hear George Hamilton who did have a surprisingly good voice. Given the limited staging and effects, it was a fun evening for a home town performance. Definitely not on the scale of the Broadway production but everyone seemed to enjoy the humor and music.
The sound was terrible. Could hardly hear George Hamilton's voice & when we did it was barely understandible. Christopher was wonderful !! He made the whole show worth it..
Very entertaining. Lots of good lines. Warm up act was excellent.
Very entertaining. It provided for good laughter. Wonderful performance.
I must say I was very disappointed in La Cage tour. The whole productions seemed sloppy and merely adequate. Mr Hamilton, with a reputation for film roles ...seemed bored and disconnected with George. The Jacob and Jacilene both were embarrassing and garbled and amateurish. THe script and score overcame the woefully inadequate cast . The exception was Albin/Zaza his focus and devotion to the role made for a shining light in a dim production.
La Cage Aux Folles was very funny as we expected it to be. The pre show act was hyisterical. We really loved George Hamilton & it is too bad that the Bob Carr Auditorium did not help with the sound. It's the facilities' downfall. There has always been a problem with the sound there. Perhaps when the new facility is completed that problem will be corrected. Christopher Sieber as Albin, 'Zaza', was very good & very funny & powerful. Les Cagelles, the drag performers, were excellent. Jacob, the Butler, was very funny & practically kept the show moving. The costume designs were excellent & the music was outstanding. It was very, very entertaining.
we enjoyed this version of the show immensely. the cast was excellent, good music and costumes.
The original French film was very funny. The American version called The Bird Cage was excellent. Then the musical by the same name for Broadway and now in El Paso thanks to Greg Taylor. An excellent production with fine singing, dancing, costumes, and a great dinner. I frequently attend the UTEP dinner theater productions and have seen Jaime Barbe on stage many time. He gave such a great performance as Albin that I never recognized him. Bravo for the entire cast and Patrica Provencio and her band.
The University of El Paso Dinner Theater is always a great treat. The service is excellent and the dinner is quite excellent. Now to the play. La Cage Aux Folles was very well directed. the sets came out brilliantly and the costumes were fabulous. Each actor displayed tremendous excitement and energy which made the overall production shine.
Excellent play Excellent acting Excellent costumes
