Kris Kristofferson on Tour
When Kris Kristofferson hits the stage, it's clear why he's become a legend of outlaw country. He plays it like he feels it — as an unfancy, master singer-songwriter, sometimes with a band and sometimes without, strumming his acoustic guitar and delivering his game-changing songs with well-weathered style. His character-rich voice lets you know he's been around the block more than once, and the songs combine a poet's command of language with a country singer's knack for putting things together organically so they go down easy. Along the way, he slips in his one-of-a-kind perspective on things. He might be unpacking the wistful romanticism of "Me and Bobby McGee" or depicting the morning-after madness of "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down," but he always makes you see the world a bit differently.
Kris Kristofferson in Concert
After Kris Kristofferson first started making waves in Nashville in the late '60s, country music (and American music) was forever changed. Singer-songwriters had never written so frankly about sensuality, and country had never had its own Bob Dylan before. With Kristofferson came a glorious collision of poetry-laden lyrics and countercultural sensibilities with the attitude of rock 'n' roll and the template of classic country. Besides making waves with his own albums, he reached into our collective conscience through his songs' numerous covers, performed by artists like Janis Joplin ("Me and Bobby McGee") and Sammi Smith ("Help Me Make It Through the Night"). Before the '70s were over, his natural charisma and chiseled countenance had helped make him a movie star too, with films like Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore and A Star Is Born. Later he became a member of legendary supergroup The Highwaymen, alongside Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. As the decades passed, Kristofferson has never backed away from his commitment to write and perform to the utmost of his abilities. He's a true-blue American legend.

Kris gave a very entertaining concert. His great songs mixed with humor made for a fun night! Well received by a packed house.
I took my 15 year old son to see Kris Kristofferson at the Chicago theatre, he had never been there and Kris is a true genius. It was better than we expected. Such a beautiful theatre with an intimate setting perfect for enjoying all Kris offered us. A great time we will never forget.
This was a night to remember. I’ve loved Kristofferson since I first heard him in the early 70’s. My dad played his albums on the reg so Kris’s voice is the background ambiance of my childhood. In my heart I he was Jody and I was ‘The Kid’. Lol! I still own and treasure those albums💛 The wit of Kristofferson’s lyrics, the crackled warmth and of his voice, his very present diction, all paired up with the crystalline perfection of the performances by each of The Strangers- what can I say? Definitely a night to remember!
The band mixed it up between K. K. and Merle Haggard's band, The Strangers, so we heard a bit of each artist. It was beautiful to listen to. Sat in section 202 and third row and could not see without straining my neck and head. Two people in front of me to have to look through and of course one was a big man head. The lady in front of me never stopped moving her head to the music, leaving me no choice but to move my head when she did. Not comfortable or enjoyable. My guest moved her seat into the aisle to get a view of the stage. The floor is flat so you can't see over anyone's head. Won't do that again. Looks like balcony seats are the best.
Love going to concerts at Belterra Casino. Therebis not a bad seat there.
Such an intimate setting and we had such a great time. Kris still has a great voice--loved every minute of it!
Amazing opportunity to see a legend!!! He had a wonderful band in the Strangers!
Over the past 40 years my wife and I have seen Kris at least 15 times. He just gets better with age. The Strangers added a new dimension to his performance and his songs. Together they were great! He is always on time to the stage and played just long enough. The audience was so moved by his performance of "Sunday Morning comin down", that they gave him a well deserved standing ovation. Kris, thanks "For The Good Times".
Loved listening to Kris and the Strangers. Scott (fiddle player) was very approachable after the show to talk and pose for pictures. It was a riot watching older ladies swoon over Kris. His wife was there in the audience. Great venue. Easy access.
Pros: started and ended on time, no chat time - constant music Cons: soooo boring, they did not alter up/slow tempo music, only one person on stage had a personality, Kristofferson walked on stage and off with barely a wave hello or goodbye
Had a great time. First time at Belterra. Loved Kris! Had a few moments at the beginning of the show, apparently the people seated in front of us were in the wrong seats. We couldn’t see the stage because of the staff chatting with the people sitting in the wrong seats. What was ironic is before the show there seemed to be a lot of discussion with the staff coming over & talking with these same four guest. Otherwise all was good.
The volume was terrible. Barely heard any song sung.
Everyone around Kris Kristofferson did a nice job. I really enjoyed Scott Joss roll in the band. He did a nice job with his Merrill Hagger Music and made Kris Kristofferson feel comfortable with the lead roll. The venue was great and the fans showed great appreciation for Kristofferson !!!
Kris Kristofferson is a show in himself, but throw in Merle Haggard's band, The Strangers, and you're in for a real treat! Excellent musicians all around, tons and tons of respect for the Texas Troubadour himself, one of the greatest American singer/songwriters of the century, in my opinion. He is a musician's musician, and I have been a fan since 1970 when I first heard his first album, Kristofferson (later renamed Me & Bobby McGee). The body of work he has, and continues to produce is staggering to the mind! If you haven't seen him, you should run, not walk (if you can) while he is still touring, it's worth whatever the price of admission!
I love Kris Kristofferson: his music, legacy, impact and charm. However the Chicago Theater was exactly the wrong venue to go hear Kris. The place was less than half full and the accompanying band Merle Haggard's The Strangers were as inspiring as a lounge act on methaqualone. Put the show in an intimate location like Old Town School and there would have been the energy needed to lift the show. Kris Kristofferson's music deserves it.
while my sons were growing up, i always included music in everything we did. kris kristofferson was an intricate part of our lives. i was so moved to see him sing his songs in person! such a beautiful soul!! i was truly blessed!!
Sometimes it's better to retain memories than to try and recreate them. I saw Kris Kristofferson with the Highwaymen 20+ years ago....it was so awesome. Kris seemed and sang like a very tired out person tonight. The Adler, which is a small theatre anyway, had absolutely no one sitting in the balcony. What made it even sadder was knowing Kris was receiving a CMA Lifetime Achievement Award that very night and yet here he was in a half empty theatre in Davenport IA. I left when he took a break after about an hour....it was just sad.
He sounded great, and his songbook is incredible. Throw in a handful of Merle songs with Joss from the Strangers singing, and it’s a terrific show.
Everything was on time And the personnel so cordial.
I was on the fence. Do I want to see at 83? Would it take away from my memories of a much and stronger Kris? But I went because this man is a treasure and he did not disappoint. On stage with Merle’s band, The Strangers, he played all of his beautifully and with so much emotion I was sobbing for most of the show. The Strangers are a treasure of their own and were the perfect band to accompany Kris. They even played a couple of their beautiful songs. Kris is a poet, a magnificent songwriter and heartfelt singer. I loved every minute of the show and it looked like Kris enjoyed every minute of being there.
