About

Kris Kristofferson on Tour

When Kris Kristofferson hits the stage, it's clear why he's become a legend of outlaw country. He plays it like he feels it — as an unfancy, master singer-songwriter, sometimes with a band and sometimes without, strumming his acoustic guitar and delivering his game-changing songs with well-weathered style. His character-rich voice lets you know he's been around the block more than once, and the songs combine a poet's command of language with a country singer's knack for putting things together organically so they go down easy. Along the way, he slips in his one-of-a-kind perspective on things. He might be unpacking the wistful romanticism of "Me and Bobby McGee" or depicting the morning-after madness of "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down," but he always makes you see the world a bit differently.

Kris Kristofferson in Concert

After Kris Kristofferson first started making waves in Nashville in the late '60s, country music (and American music) was forever changed. Singer-songwriters had never written so frankly about sensuality, and country had never had its own Bob Dylan before. With Kristofferson came a glorious collision of poetry-laden lyrics and countercultural sensibilities with the attitude of rock 'n' roll and the template of classic country. Besides making waves with his own albums, he reached into our collective conscience through his songs' numerous covers, performed by artists like Janis Joplin ("Me and Bobby McGee") and Sammi Smith ("Help Me Make It Through the Night"). Before the '70s were over, his natural charisma and chiseled countenance had helped make him a movie star too, with films like Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore and A Star Is Born. Later he became a member of legendary supergroup The Highwaymen, alongside Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. As the decades passed, Kristofferson has never backed away from his commitment to write and perform to the utmost of his abilities. He's a true-blue American legend.

  • Kris Kristofferson still singing at 83

by NM Fan on 11/26/19Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

We really enjoyed the concert with Kris Kristofferson and Merle Haggard's band The Strangers. It was nice to see Kris's enthusiasm and he seemed like he was really enjoying performing all his old favorite tunes along with Merle's songs. He kept grinnin'. It's amazing to know that he is still out there doing concerts, and remembering all the words to the songs! He may have lost a little in the melody department, but hey, still pickin' and grinnin'. Thank you for a great show.

  • Kris!

by Jude on 11/26/19Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

What can I say? I've loved, adored, Kris Kristofferson and have sung his songs my entire life! His performance was impeccable, and I knew, know that this is probably his last go'round, sadly. He's a poet and a Lover of Life, and capable musician, bringing his art to our knowing on stage. Thank you, Kris, and smooth sailing for the rest! Love you!!

  • AWESOME!!!!

What an entertainer! Kristofferson played for almost two hours, singing many of my favorites. If he comes to your town, don't miss him!!!

  • Perfect Event!

by KT on 11/26/19Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

An amazing performance by a truly talented singer/songwriter.... 83 years old. His voice is a bit gravely but it only added to the wonder that is Kris Kristofferson. I’m so glad I didn’t miss the chance to see this legend!

  • thoroughly enjoyed

  • Not what I was hoping for

by J. M. on 11/26/19Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center - AlbuquerqueRating: 1 out of 5

Was looking forward to the concert; however, only stayed for the first 5 songs. No interaction with the crowd, first 5 songs were extremely slow beat, no excitement about being in ABQ, introduced his band and could barely understand him. Was very disappointing so we left. This is my perspective of the show - others may have loved it, not me

  • disappointing

by Kevin on 11/25/19Victory Theatre - EvansvilleRating: 2 out of 5

Kris was trying, but his vocals were so far down in the mix you couldn't hear him. All I could hear was the lounge act keyboardist, who was far, far too loud. The overall sound was very distorted, not sure who is at fault, Kris' gear and crew or the Victory. The only bright spot was the fiddle player, Scott Joss. He did a fantastic job, fiddle, singing and guitar. Wasn't expecting a show of the decade, mainly went to see the legend that is Kris Kristofferson. But what we got was pretty lame.

  • Very enjoyable!

by Marty on 11/23/19Victory Theatre - EvansvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The show was everything I was hoping for and more. I’ve always enjoyed his music and was not disappointed. Just like fine wine everything improves with age. ❤️

  • Concert good/Crowd rude

by Indyannie on 11/22/19Victory Theatre - EvansvilleRating: 4 out of 5

They should only have the bar open before the show and during intermission. People getting up and going for more drinks is disruptive. As we left it was also evident that many people spilled their drinks! How sad for this lovely restored facility! Show was good however.

  • Awesome

    by D. H. on 11/22/19Victory Theatre - EvansvilleRating: 3 out of 5

the sound was horrible for this show. the vocal volume was way down and you couldn't hear the singer. we left at the intermission

  • Loved it!!

by mispydi on 11/21/19Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

We have been fans of Kris for many, many years. And what a surprise that The Strangers were accompanying him! (we are Merle Haggard fans, also!!) The blend of these men was astounding and outstanding!! Loved the whole program/concert!!!

Great Venue, Babd and the best Artist Kris Kristofferson!

  • Great show, but short

by TJ on 11/20/19MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage (formerly Hard Rock Live) - NorthfieldRating: 4 out of 5

Kris was great, but only played 85 minutes and according to setlists.fm a shorter show than other venues. Was this a yet another case of the casino curfew (previously mentioned be other artists)? And why, with an isolated location, is there a curfew?

  • Great show!

by Jojo on 11/20/19MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage (formerly Hard Rock Live) - NorthfieldRating: 5 out of 5

Kris Kristofferson show was awesome! Sang all his old songs. Brought back many memories. Loved it. Great show and seats are all good in MGM
