About

KIMBRA IN CONCERT:

Aussie songstress Kimbra first rose to fame thanks to her collaboration on Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know", but lately it's her solo act that's earning attention. Her perfect mix of soulful pop, jazz, and dance music gets concertgoers tearing up the floor all night. Known for her eccentric stagewear, powerful vocal range, and expert use of looping effects, Kimbra never fails to wow with her infectious energy and phenomenal performances of originals such as "Settle Down" and "Plain Gold Ring".

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Kimbra got her start in music at the age of 12 when she learned to play guitar and sang in her school choir. Influenced by Michael Jackson, Imogen Heap, and Stevie Wonder, Kimbra began experimenting with different genres and eventually arrived at her soul-tinged dance-pop sound. After winning a video contest in 2008, she attracted attention from label exec Mark Richardson who saw her immense talent and signed her later that year. She released her debut single "Settle Down" two years later, which landed a Top 40 spot on the New Zealand charts and put her on the map as a hot artist on the rise. She collaborated with Gotye on his 2011 single "Somebody That I Used To Know" -- a worldwide smash hit that topped the charts in 26 countries,  earned the duo two Grammy Awards, and launched the pair to stardom overnight. Since then she's released her 2011 critically acclaimed full-length Vows and toured alongside Foster the People and the Kooks. On tour Kimbra sings tracks from her 2014 album The Golden Echo among older fan favorites and delivers one exciting performance after another.

    Kimbra was a blast

by zm613 on 11/10/14Bowery Ballroom - New York

This venue was the perfect place to see someone like Kimbra perform. The sound was just right, I'm on the shorter side but I had a great view of her, nice and close view, drinks were available on both levels of the venue. Kimbra was loads of fun, she's got a great spirit and knows how to keep the crowd alive!

    ...Somebody Say Superstar!!!

by MTorr on 11/20/12Royale Boston - Boston

What happens when you blend together human percussion, a glorious use of vocabulary, original mesmerizing beats, and a vessel all in which to perform it all? Well, ladies and gentlemen you are presented with Kimbra. The audience erupted when she ran down the stairs onto the Royale stage—an entrance I will not soon forget. This girl isn't just a powerhouse singer; her music is meticulously thought out, beautifully phrased, incredibly relatable, to put it simply— it’s art. They don’t make them like this anymore. Only “once in a blue moon” do you have an artist give as much as Kimbra does on stage. Thank the stars she came to the U.S. as a headliner. The show was clean, music was well balanced, the band was playing like their life depended on it, and of course miss Kimbra gave a performance nothing short of a superstar. Brava, Miss Kimbra! Did I mention she’s drop dead gorgeous…? MT

    Kimbra was amazing!

by KTrina on 11/14/12Webster Hall - New York

I had a great time at the show. Kimbra is great live and you can tell she really gets into it. The opening act The Stepkids were cool and seem like nice guys but I'm not a huge fan of their music. The venue itself was a decent size and got crowed pretty quickly. Overall I had a good time and I'd see a show there again. I would definitely see Kimbra live again because she really was amazing.

    Awesome

by KylaE on 10/30/12The Danforth Music Hall Theatre - Toronto

Kimbra was fantastic! Especially since this was the last show on her tour, it astounded me the amount of energy she still had for the whole show. She was adorable as always, and her costume brought another whole element to her performance, it was so flashy! The Stepkids, the opening act, wasn't so great, and I felt people who were on acid might have enjoyed it better, they were rather strange, but not the worst I've ever heard either. I wouldn't go see them separately anyway.

    Thumbs up for KIMBRA!

by BrittanyDee123 on 10/30/12Webster Hall - New York

I absolutely loved Kimbra's energry , she played a great set !! Became an even bigger fan seeing her live (she's one of the few singers that actually can sing live - in high heels, I might add). She kept her energy up all the way through ! Webster Hall was pretty packed that night but I can't blame NYC for wanting to see this amazing woman! thumbs up all around for Kimbra ! xo

If you didn't know her before....you do now!

by Sicilianshoelvr on 10/29/12The Danforth Music Hall Theatre - Toronto

Kimbra was fantastic...from the energy she delivered in "Two Way Street" to the phenomenal collaboration with The Stepkids during her encore performance of "Call Me"...I was more than pleased. I traveled all the way from Houston, TX to see her in Toronto and brought three others with me who I've recently turned into Kimbra-heads... It was most memorable!

by LittleTotoro on 10/27/12Royale Boston - Boston

I didn't know the Stepkids before I went to the show, and they were very entertaining. Kimbra was her usual energetic, unique self even though she had a cold. I liked the venue too.

Kimbra's got a great voice and a quirky stage presence (think Bjork) and a ferocious backing band. Even with a cold, she delighted the crowd.

    Kimbra is fantastic

by JoeyJojoShabadoo on 10/22/12Webster Hall - New York

I'll admit, I wasn't expecting much. Usually the acts that my sister drags me to are dull and uninspired, but to my great surprise Kimbra was neither. That woman has talent.
