Kevin James began his career as a stand-up on the Long Island comedy scene. After being discovered at the 1996 Montreal Comedy Festival, he signed a network development deal to create his own sitcom.
The King of Queens, which premiered in 1998, ran for nine seasons on CBS with James starring and executive producing, and it garnered him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. The show concluded its run in 2007 but continues to air daily in syndication across the country and around the world. James also starred in, and executive produced The Crew, a sitcom set in the world of NASCAR and is currently developing a single camera comedy (both for Netflix).
James brought his stand-up act to TV with Sweat the Small Stuff, a one-hour special for Comedy Central. Kevin James and Ray Romano executive produced and starred in the HBO Sports Special Making the Cut: The Road to Pebble Beach; a documentary about the Pebble Beach Pro Am Golf Tournament that was nominated for a Sports Emmy. His second comedy special Never Don't Give Up premiered on Netflix to critical acclaim.
James was the producer, co-writer, and star of the hit comedies Paul Blart: Mall Cop 1 & 2, Zookeeper, and Here Comes The Boom. James made his feature film debut in Columbia Pictures' Hitch starring opposite Will Smith, and starred alongside Adam Sandler in Pixels, Grown Ups, Grown Ups 2, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, and Hubie Halloween. He starred in the feature True Memoirs of an International Assassin for Netflix, the independent action thriller Becky, and starred in and produced Home Team for Netflix.
We had a great night--his opening act was funny as well... Just felt like he should have performed a bit longer
Just as funny as he is in his movies! This was the best comedy show I have ever been to. Even his opening act was on point. I was also surprised as to how "clean" his act was.
Good clean comedy show! This was my third time seeing him and I look forward to another show down the road!!!
30 minutes of opening act and then 60 minutes of Kevin James. For some this might be enough, but for me it was a little bit disappointing. He was great overall, but I'm not sure, if I had spend the money if I had known about the duration in advance. Still, don't get me wrong, he was great!
Dude was on! We laughed our tails off. ...and he didn't have to drop F-bombs and such to make us giggle for the hour.
His act Sweat the Small stuff is a timeless classic but his new material was also pretty good! We enjoyed seeing him live and would definitely watch him again or recommend to a friend/family for a good time. :)
It was a laugh a second. His warm up act Richie Minervini was also very funny. No profanity which was a nice change. 90 minutes over all. This is the second time I have seen both comics.
I will def go see him again if he comes back to Columbus. He is so funny and entertaining. And nice to look at too.
Kevin James was hysterical as usual! It was a little disappointing though because I was expecting a longer show. The opening act AND Kevin James was a little over an hour and a half.
Kevin James is the master of funny! I did not stop laughing the entire time he was on stage. Can't wait for him to come back to C-Bus!
Kevin's opening act was okay, sort of funny, used profanity to get his point across, he did all right. Kevin comes out and really brought the house down with his self-deprecating humor. He refrained from strong language even when a drunk in the front heckled him because he refused to use the "F" word. Kevin heckled him back and won the day. The entire show was outstanding and I would see it again. The venue (Ryman Auditorium) was lovely and historic and the temperature was right inside, BUT the church pews were tight and uncomfortable. Next time, I will bring a seat cushion.
Kevin was great. He had me laughing so hard I was crying. Wish it could have lasted longer. His opening act Richie Minervini was just as funny. It was a great show all around.
Very funny....well worth the money. Took too long to get started. The entire act was family friendly and respect the fact that it was extremely funny and both acts had NO swearing.
Kevin James was very very funny! I would definitely go see him again.
I'm a huge Kevin James fan, but i was somewhat disappointed.
I think the only thing that we were bummed about is that Kevin did not go longer. It was like a great movie that ended abruptly. My husband and I both agreed that 1.5hrs would have given us the fulfillment and closure we needed. I can't wait until his kids are teens to give him some great material to laugh about. We hope he DEFINITELY returns to Nashville!
Good comedy that had everyone laughing absent the constant vulgarity and crudeness, and for that alone, I applaud Kevin James. Very funny act that everyone can relate to.
loved the show - also love Kevin putting local heckler in his place
It was funny, but not long enough. Not enough new material. Kevin kept looking at his notes which was a little distracting
Laughed so hard at the Kevin James show, my face hurt that evening. Love that we all had a great time at the show and it wasn't obscene. He interacted so well with the audience and really drew us into his show. It was our 7th anniversary and a fantastic way to spend the evening.
