I was really looking forward to this event, but was disappointed. I think the biggest problem was time.
The tickets said that doors open at 6 p.m. We didn't get to our seats until around 6:50, because parking in the area was such a nightmare and I was worried we would miss most of the show. I was sooooo wrong.
The event didn't start until around 8:15. There were some people totally trashed by this time. It started with a bunch of videos - funny, but I could have watched them from home and considering there were only 2 side TV screens, my neck hurt from turning towards it. Then, DJ Mike Realm did his part. That was by far the worst part of the show. It added NOTHING to the show and was annoying as hell. If I wanted to hear electronic or techno music, I would have gone to a club. A couple of his things were mildly amusing, but went on so long they completely lost any amusement they might have brought.
Patton Oswald was the first comedian and after the videos and DJ Mike Realm, it was around 8:45 when he took the stage. He was funny, but the sound was a bit off and whenever he yelled something, it was excruciating (this seemed to be a problem for everyone).
After that was Reggie Watts. If you have the chance to see him; DON'T! He had maybe one funny joke. He was hard to look at and harder to hear. It almost seemed like a drunk slob came up to the stage and they gave him the mike.
Taylor Williamson followed and he was the best that we saw. Just hilarious.
Jim Jeffries was next. We had just seen him the week before and so all his material was a repeat, so it was at this point that we decided to leave (it was not because he wasn't funny - he is someone you should definitely go see if you have the chance, really, really funny). At this time, it was 9:45, and Jim Jeffries still had a lot of time left.
I figure the show probably went on for another 45 minutes to an hour after that. Had it not started so late, we might have stuck around, but enough was enough and I kind of had a headache from DJ Mike Realm's nonsense. I was also starving. Not worth it to stick around.
They could have easily started an hour earlier with the stupid videos and the DJ, but didn't. I kinda wished we stayed home, then I wouldn't be so disappointed.
