KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD IN CONCERT:
Guitar god Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of the fiercest young axmen of his generation, and he continues to blow audiences away every time he takes the stage. The self-taught virtuoso is a sight to behold in concert, where his furious fingers and flailing blonde locks serve as the perfect counterpoint to the precision and ease of his razor-sharp riffs. Whether he's playing bluesy originals from 2014's Goin' Home or covering legends like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, Shepherd always treats fans to electrifying performances that are as heavy on pure gusto as they are on musical chops.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Shreveport, Louisiana-born Kenny Wayne Shepherd got his first guitar in early childhood and began learning the instrument with a unique self-taught method. He was quickly recognized as a guitar prodigy, and at age 13 he was invited to play on stage with blues icon Bryan Lee. His first performance at the Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport attracted the eye of label execs, and before long Shepherd had signed a multiple record deal with Giant Records. His 1995 debut album Leadbetter Heights topped the blues chart, a feat he repeated with five subsequent albums including his 1997 sophomore album Trouble Is... -- the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Chart in history. In 2014 Shepherd released his seventh studio album Goin' Home, another chart-topper that has fans eagerly awaiting his next must-see series of tour dates.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band rocked the blues. What great musicians. His closing act of Jimmy Hendrix's 'Voodoo Child' was awesome."

I’ve only known of Kenny Wayne Shepherd for about a year. After seeing him and his band in person at Humphrey’s by the Bay in San Diego on August 11, 2023, I’m convinced that he’s one of the all time greats. He’s easily as good or better than Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Buddy Guy, and many others. His timing is incredible and his band is top notch. Of the numerous concerts I’ve seen over many years, this was one of the few where the band was better live than their recordings. Highly recommended.
The KWS show in San Antonio was amazing. He is truly an awesome talent. The seating in the Aztec was great, not a bad seat in the building. Having said that, the ambient air temperature in the Aztec was sweltering. It was so hot inside I can not say I'll see another show there.
Kenny Wayne sounded great and played a fantastic set of hits and some great new material. The first time ao saw them was at the Great American Music Hall when he was 18. He didn’t sing at all back then. In fact, he was hard to even see. He hung his head down with his long, blond hair hanging in front of his face and shredded as he stood in one place. It was still amazing but since then he’s developed a great stage presence and voice. I’ve seen them dozens of times since then and they’re always great. The Uptown’s sound system and sound engineers do an excellent job. We go to a lot of shows all over the Bay Area (usually around 40+ a year) and the Uptown is easily our favorite venue. It’s a beautifully restored theater with an excellent staff of professionals. Erica is the manager and I see her before, during and after every show. She’s always there welcoming guests as they arrive and she sees to it that everyone has a great experience every time. Parking is free, easy and safe and there’s a nice selection of great restaurants within walking distance. The Uptown is about 45-50 minutes North of where we live in Walnut Creek. SF has the Fillmore, GAMH, the Warfield (and many others) and is a little closer but we don’t feel safe around them any longer. I can’t think of another venue that has it all like the Uptown in Napa.
Pure music all the way through. No flash or technical visuals, great music from a band that truly understands the genre. The lead singer always delivers with a great voice. The bassist delivered some magic that only a gifted bassist can. The keyboardists continues to provide the color and ambience needed to make this band so much more. But do not discount the guitar wizardry of Kenny Wayne. His energy and verve drive the music forward , never turning back and what a sonic show!
I have been attending rock and roll concert since the early 70s. I have seen Elton John, Led Zeppelin, Clapton, The Who, Paul McCartney, Carlos Santana and many more. About an hour into watching The Kenny Wayne Shepard band, I asked myself is this the best concert I have seen? I don't like to tell people this is the greatest show ever because we all have different musical tastes and likes. However for me I have never seen a better guitarist live. KWS should be filling stadiums. Not 300 seat auditoriums. All I can say is AWESOME!! I don't know who was having more fun, the audience or the band. And the audience was having a GREAT time. Thank you Kenny and the band for a GREAT two hours of music!!
I attended the KWS show on Saturday August 5th at the Uptown Theatre in Napa, CA. The Uptown is a great venue for a concert (I have been to several) and I was seated in the first row of the "balcony"just behind the mixing console. I've seen Kenny several times and they never disappoint. They played several new songs and some old favorites. I guess as an older guy I still like the old songs better so I wish they played a few more of those. Of course, my old favorites may not be the same as someone else's so it will never be perfect. Overall it was a great show but the sound could have been better. It was just a little too loud which especially affected the solo's. This was most noticeable during the organ solos where it had to be turned up so much you could barely differentiate between the notes. Very "bright"almost screeching sound much of the time. The crowd was very enthusiastic!
Been waiting for over 2 years for him to come close enough to go. Worth the wait. Totally
Kenny Wayne delivers every time. Awesome show. Great band.
I've seen the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band multiple times. They have always put on a stellar show. All the musicians are great, however Kenny takes it to a whole new level. I am amazed and awed at his talent and this performance. It's probably the best concert I have ever attended. I am seeing them again tomorrow at Mountain Winery and I know, without a doubt, that he will go above and beyond in what he delivers to his fans. It's unbelievable how he can perform at this epoch level night after night. The combination of KWS on guitar and Noah on vocals.... there is nothing better. Thank you for sharing your tremendous talent!!
Kenny Wayne Shepherd band rocked the house in Napa!! Excellent time!
Great show by the band. Third time seeing Kenny and as always, he delivers. Love the vocals and off course watching Kenny play. A must see any time he is in Nor Cal.
Next to Jeff Beck Kenny Wayne Sheppard was the most impressive guitar player I have ever seen. His band was great too! This was a totally pleasant surprise. I don't know why he hasn't gotten more recognition as a guitar great. The first 4 or 5 songs were strong but no cigar, then he slowed down to play some blues and blew me away. I really don't know why he isn't listed with Stevie Ray, Clapton, Page, and others. Just lack of exposure is all I can figure. Check him out. He is amazing.
The show was fabulous, Kenny Wayne did not disappoint! But standing room is usually in front of the stage not off to the side which is where it was so that was disappointing! Also drinks were really pricey! Loved Kenny Wayne but the venue not so much
KWS and band put on a good performance. This was our second time seeing them. Enjoyed the show but were disappointed that they started 10 minutes late and then after an hour went off stage waiting for the applause for an encore. Returned to the stage and played another 10-15 minutes and that was it. So good performance but short show.
This is our 2nd concert for The Kenny Wayne Sheperd Band at The Rialto. The energy was awesome! The new padded chairs made for a more comfortable experience. Kenny Wayne and Company are amazing musicians! They put on a great show! Very talented musicians! We loved it!!!
KWS as always was phenomenal. Attending his shows are such a pleasure.
This was the third time I attended Kenny’s concert at the Rialto and I must say that this was his best show yet. The band was absolutely on point. The sound was fantastic. And the audience participation was phenomenal. The set list was perfectly chosen including my all time favorite song “Shame Shame Shame” which received a well deserved standing ovation. In my humble opinion this was not a concert, it was a religious experience.
KWS band was excellent no complaints there. However for the $$ spent on these tickets were extremely expensive to be left sitting in worn out balcony seats. Not to mention no elbow room. You are literally touching elbows/shoulders to the person sitting next to you. Which makes for a very awkward situation and ruins the whole experience.
What a great night we had! The venue was wonderful and Kenny Wayne Shepherd never fails to impress...
