About

KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD IN CONCERT:

Guitar god Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of the fiercest young axmen of his generation, and he continues to blow audiences away every time he takes the stage. The self-taught virtuoso is a sight to behold in concert, where his furious fingers and flailing blonde locks serve as the perfect counterpoint to the precision and ease of his razor-sharp riffs. Whether he's playing bluesy originals from 2014's Goin' Home or covering legends like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, Shepherd always treats fans to electrifying performances that are as heavy on pure gusto as they are on musical chops.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Shreveport, Louisiana-born Kenny Wayne Shepherd got his first guitar in early childhood and began learning the instrument with a unique self-taught method. He was quickly recognized as a guitar prodigy, and at age 13 he was invited to play on stage with blues icon Bryan Lee. His first performance at the Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport attracted the eye of label execs, and before long Shepherd had signed a multiple record deal with Giant Records. His 1995 debut album Leadbetter Heights topped the blues chart, a feat he repeated with five subsequent albums including his 1997 sophomore album Trouble Is... -- the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Chart in history.  In 2014 Shepherd released his seventh studio album Goin' Home, another chart-topper that has fans eagerly awaiting his next must-see series of tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I have seen Kenny Wayne numerous times and this was his best show yet. See him if you can!"

"Awesome show!!! Would definitely pay to see them again! He punished that guitar!"

"Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band rocked the blues. What great musicians. His closing act of Jimmy Hendrix's 'Voodoo Child' was awesome."

  • One of the best guitar players of our time!

by Mark M on 10/9/23Capital One Hall - TysonsRating: 5 out of 5

Great music and performance! Took a couple of friends to the show that only knew a song or two and they loved it. I can’t wait to see them again.

  • Kenny Wayne Shepard concert

by Phoenix on 10/9/23Capital One Hall - TysonsRating: 5 out of 5

Great show! The band was very tight. Kenny was on fire on the guitars and Noah was spot on with the vocals. We could have watched for a couple more hours and still would have wanted more. The venue (Capital One Hall) is beautiful and comfortable and does not feel crowded at all. The staff is truly friendly and welcoming. The ushers are lively and seem to love their jobs. We sat near the rear of the center orchestra area and the view was superb. Even near the back of the hall we could still see Kenny’s fingers tearing up the frets. Can't wait to see him again, especially if he revisits Capital One Hall. The reserved garage parking was very easy and the staff was on hand after the show directing our exit so well that we almost didn’t have to stop as we made our way to the exit. It was the best concert experience ever and i have been going to concerts since the late ‘60s!!!

  • Great Venue. Good show.

Capitol One Hall is a great venue; all good spacious seat, and perfect acoustics. KW was amazing as always. Noah Hunt must have been hurting, he was definitely low energy. They cut King Bee from the setlist; a song that he needs to carry. Joe Walsh Turn to Stone was my personal favorite. The extended solo was worthy of vintage Joe. Add KWS to your must see list while still headlining.

  • First time at this venue. Awesome place! Awesome concert!

  • Great show

by Mostanno on 10/2/23Capital Region MU Health Care Amphitheater - Jefferson CityRating: 5 out of 5

KWS does not disappoint. He rips on the guitar like days of old when he first put out his album Ledbetter Heights. Noah's voice blends in perfectly and with KWS singing more the harmonies sound so good. Great show! The audience seemed a little too laid back though.

I was not familiar with much of KWS work, so I didn’t expect to enjoy it all……each and every song was AWESOME. I could have listened to him for hours. I’m a new fan. I’m purchasing most of his work for my music library 💕

Kenny is a USA treasure. He has a rarely seen command of the fretboard. His band was fantastic also. The new CR Missouri amphitheater is a great addition for mid MO that I would never thought I would see here. 10 Stars out of 5 !!!!

  • Great performance

by Odie on 10/1/23Capital Region MU Health Care Amphitheater - Jefferson CityRating: 3 out of 5

I was very disappointed that the show lasted 1 hour and 15 mins. Not so bad but people came 2-3 hours away to hear an hour. Then on top we paid almost top ticket foe hour 15 min concert. Never been to one under tow hours.

  • Awesome show!!

by Pete on 10/1/23Capital Region MU Health Care Amphitheater - Jefferson CityRating: 4 out of 5

It was an awesome show!!! Seen them 20 years ago and they haven't lost a step. The vocals sound just as good live as they do on the albums. It was a great experience all around. For those of you wondering, it was a lesson in guitar showmanship. Just the right amount of little touches here and there and when he decided to show off a little you could see how easy he made it look

  • Amazing Show

We saw Kenny Wayne Shepherd at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay in San Diego on 8/11/2023. We’d been wanting to see him for a few years, and he and his band did not disappoint! Awesome show! We will definitely go see them again. If you get the chance, you should, too.

KWS is the most awesome blues guitarist on earth. He and his band members are beyond any blues band alive that I had the pleasure to see and listen to live on stage. He blew us out of the water! Can't wait to catch him live again when he comes back to town.
