KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD IN CONCERT:
Guitar god Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of the fiercest young axmen of his generation, and he continues to blow audiences away every time he takes the stage. The self-taught virtuoso is a sight to behold in concert, where his furious fingers and flailing blonde locks serve as the perfect counterpoint to the precision and ease of his razor-sharp riffs. Whether he's playing bluesy originals from 2014's Goin' Home or covering legends like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, Shepherd always treats fans to electrifying performances that are as heavy on pure gusto as they are on musical chops.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Shreveport, Louisiana-born Kenny Wayne Shepherd got his first guitar in early childhood and began learning the instrument with a unique self-taught method. He was quickly recognized as a guitar prodigy, and at age 13 he was invited to play on stage with blues icon Bryan Lee. His first performance at the Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport attracted the eye of label execs, and before long Shepherd had signed a multiple record deal with Giant Records. His 1995 debut album Leadbetter Heights topped the blues chart, a feat he repeated with five subsequent albums including his 1997 sophomore album Trouble Is... -- the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Chart in history. In 2014 Shepherd released his seventh studio album Goin' Home, another chart-topper that has fans eagerly awaiting his next must-see series of tour dates.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

Kenny Wayne Sheppard and his band put on an amazing performance! I was especially impressed by the keyboard player and KWS's guitar playing is just amazing ... a great hybrid of classic blues played with a Rock & Roll sort of vibe. My first time seeing KWS and hopefully not my last! As for the venue, the Rialto is nice place but the seats on the floor were WAY to close together and this made watching the concert a bit uncomfortable. Thank goodness, the folks next to me were very nice and conscious of the space constraints.
Couldn’t ask for a better show. Kenny and his amazing band gave an outstanding performance. His on stage presence and engagement with our Tucson audience was flawless. A consummate guitarist with band mates of equal caliber. Loved every minute. He played 5 extra songs after the concert was scheduled to end because of the standing ovations and his love for his fans.
Fantastic show. KWS is a not to be missed live experience. Only wish “KingFish” Ingram was touring with the band as the opener.
Second time seeing Kenny Wayne Shepherd live and he did not disappoint! Truly unbelievable what KWS can do with a guitar, he is nothing short of amazing. The entire band are excellent musicians and it was nice to see Kenny sign three of his songs, added a little something special since the last time I saw him. Definitely a must see show!!
Oh Man I was amazed by the show the whole band was also amazing and Kenny Wayne Shepherd was all over the stage down right jamming he was EXCELLENT AND THE CONCERT WAS GREAT, I will see he again next year.🎤🎸🥁🎹🎵🎵🎼
Tickets went on sale for KWS with Ally Venable. Was greatly anticipating the two of them. Then partway through ticket sales, Ally suddenly disappeared from the show. No notice given to ticket holders. They just changed the Venue. Ally suddenly appears with her own show at on Aug 2. Interestingly enough, they actually had some posters advertising the show at the KWS concert.
What an amazing display of raw talent on every front, not just with KWS, but the whole band. I was hesitant to go since I didn't know much of the music. I'm so glad that I listen to my gut and went because this was an amazing performance. It was my first time seeing them, but it certainly won't be my last.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd was amazing! The band is tight! Kenny blazes on the guitar! The lead singer is so talented! Don't hesitate to go see Kenny. You're guaranteed more than your money's worth!
Great show! Worth the money and convenience of Ticketmaster.
Outstanding performance in Montgomery, AL on Wednesday evening 7/19/2023! The entire band was ALL IN for an awesome evening of Blues! Set list was fantastic and I was totally blown away!
First off, seeing this show in an opera/orchestra hall was just perfect. The Saenger is a great facility for an intimate experience with an accomplished artist like Mr. Shepherd and his band. They can strip it down and basically play with their monitors, which, combined with the natural acoustics of the hall, means there are no dead spots in the sound no matter where you sit. Fortunately, we had good seats, so it was a great view as well. I will be the first to admit I am not an aficionado. I am not terribly familiar with their catalog, nor am I an avid follower. What I DO know, however, is that the dude can play, and I wanted to see him do it live, because I have always valued performers who can play live. He was everything I expected: incredibly professional, very gracious, and just damned good. I thought covering "Mr. Soul"was a very interesting touch, because I never really thought Neil's original lent itself that well to a rockin' or bluesy interpretation, but it really holds up well when handled by someone so adept at presenting it in that way. "Shame Shame"was just straight up blues all the way, and of course "Blue on Black"brought the crowd to their feet, as it should. I'm sorry I can't remember the songs he played from their debut album, but they absolutely brought to mind a band looking to make an impression: straight forward, very raw and full of Kenny's tasty licks. However, the highlight of the show for me was hearing him play "While We Cry"for the first time, which I, of course, immediately thought was his interpretation of "Yellow Ledbetter,"because, well... how can you NOT think of the correlation if you're familiar with the song? Absolutely amazing playing on that song. Feel. Insanely good tone. Dynamic contrast. Soaring solo. LOVED that jam! And, finally, there's "Voodoo Child."While Stevie Ray played it like, well... Stevie Ray, Kenny just absolutely NAILED Hendrix's sound. So on point. Insanely good. Like all great players, he just demands your focus with everything he does on stage, regardless of whether or not he is even trying to attract attention, and in that regard, this show met and exceeded all expectations for me. Did it change my life? Maybe not, but I am tremendously grateful that I was able to see him play live, because artists like him are becoming more rare, and therefore so much more valuable to experience while we have that chance. It was a hell of a good show. If you have the chance, I highly recommend seeing this band. It's worth whatever it takes.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band was absolutely amazing. Kenny's guitar playing and Noah's singing were awesome. Hadn't heard them play, in a while, and KWS is for sure, one of the best Guitarists out there. Loved that they played a lot of Ledbetter Heights and new tunes as well. Great concert!! The Ally Venable Band did amazingly too as the warmup. Love Ally, and have been following her for years, and she is only getting better. The Aztec is a great venue, and we had some amazing seats. Love the new outdoor patio too. Highly Recommend seeing KWS asap and checking out the Aztec Entertainment Lineup
Kenny Wayne Sepherd is a master guitarist. His Blues is the best! He is a hard rock blues artist in a lane all of his own. Noah Hunt has the best vocals for Kenny Wayne’s guitar. They match perfectly! What a great
I saw Kenny in ‘97 when he came out with Triuble Is. On Saturday we saw him again and he and his band were absolutely fantastic! In my opinion the best blues/rock guitarist currently out there! After 25 years I can honestly say he is even better than when we saw him In ‘97! The opening act, Ally Venable Band was outstanding! I would go to her show if she was the headliner! Only issue we had was our seats were in the 29th Mezzinine section and there was no air conditioning our very little. My wife and I were drenched by the end of the concert as we’re many folks around us! I’d go back to the venue but not in that section.
Kenny was the best....super good show. Have seen him several times and this was the best....a great show man...
KWS band was amazing, played all the greats and some awesome new songs . The warm up band was great, that young lady has got some skills
Great time at the concert. There’s something special about date night listening to some live music. KWS rocked the house!
I attended the Kenny Wayne Shepherd performance in San Antonio last Saturday night and WOW what a show! I saw him several years back and he certainly is as good as ever…probably better! If you have a chance to see him don’t hesitate for even a second to grab a ticket 🎟️!!!
What great show!!! KWS can really shred the guitar. Was also very impressed with Ally Venable.
