About

KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD IN CONCERT:

Guitar god Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of the fiercest young axmen of his generation, and he continues to blow audiences away every time he takes the stage. The self-taught virtuoso is a sight to behold in concert, where his furious fingers and flailing blonde locks serve as the perfect counterpoint to the precision and ease of his razor-sharp riffs. Whether he's playing bluesy originals from 2014's Goin' Home or covering legends like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, Shepherd always treats fans to electrifying performances that are as heavy on pure gusto as they are on musical chops.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Shreveport, Louisiana-born Kenny Wayne Shepherd got his first guitar in early childhood and began learning the instrument with a unique self-taught method. He was quickly recognized as a guitar prodigy, and at age 13 he was invited to play on stage with blues icon Bryan Lee. His first performance at the Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport attracted the eye of label execs, and before long Shepherd had signed a multiple record deal with Giant Records. His 1995 debut album Leadbetter Heights topped the blues chart, a feat he repeated with five subsequent albums including his 1997 sophomore album Trouble Is... -- the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Chart in history.  In 2014 Shepherd released his seventh studio album Goin' Home, another chart-topper that has fans eagerly awaiting his next must-see series of tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I have seen Kenny Wayne numerous times and this was his best show yet. See him if you can!"

"Awesome show!!! Would definitely pay to see them again! He punished that guitar!"

"Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band rocked the blues. What great musicians. His closing act of Jimmy Hendrix's 'Voodoo Child' was awesome."

Hands down the best guitarist I have ever seen live. Complete mastery of the multiple guitars he played throughout the night. What a true delight. The band was spot on. They nailed it! Add this living guitar legend to your bucket list folks and strap in!

i am 70 years old and very much looked forward to the concert . I cannot imagine anything better than to start the concert with Bill Withers and end it with Jimi Hendricks and a little SRV in the middle . Don't get me wrong , Ally ? is very talented but needs some of her own material . As for KWS i have followed him for 25+ years and he was great . I gave the show a max of 5 stars and if i asked for anything extra i would ask KWS to give a shout out to our Lord .

  • KWS is phenomenal!

  • BLEW MY MIND

    by A Snake on 7/22/23Rating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been going to concerts for 40+ years. I’ve seen A LOT of awesome shows. This ranked top 3 easily. He is so gifted. You can’t convince me that he is not one of the very top guitarists living today. And he is still relatively young. Speaking of YOUNG, His opener Ally Venable deserves a shout out too.

Great fantastic show at the Saenger Theatre Mobile Al. We have been a fan of KWS since he was very young. I even had black hair snd beard then. His music and performance was snd continues to be very professional and enjoyable. We would go again tonight if possible. Highly recommend his show and the venue. We will be back every time. 👍

Kenny can play his guitars with effortless ease. The music just flows through him. Fun to watch his mates enjoy what they do so well! Great connection, great band.

  • One of the best!!

    by de2425 on 7/6/23Rating: 5 out of 5

For years, Kenny has been one of the best touring. As the years have progressed, he's gone from a standout child prodigy to a staple of the Blues community. I'm so glad there are still bands like this touring.

  • Great music!

by VG on 7/1/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band are excellent musicians! We enjoyed the concert so much - both the new music and the oldies but goodies. All of the music had that "edge"and "timeless"feel - will never get tired of hearing it! In addition to hearing KWS classics like Deja Voodoo and Blue on Black, we also heard newer material. They closed with the Jimi Hendrix classic Voodoo Child and completely rocked it! It seemed like the night went so fast - I was ready to listen for another hour or two! Highly recommend!

It was a good show. Music played spot on. The only thing I would change are the # of songs played. I wanted to hear, ‘Everything is broken’. He didn’t play it; and it is one of his best songs The Factory venue was lovely.

  • Kenny Wayne Sheppard - phenomenal blues artist

by John on 6/27/23The Wind Creek Event Center - BethlehemRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was outstanding. Kenny Wayne Sheppard is a phenomenal blues artist. The band is equally outstanding, all performing in-step with each other, and clearly enjoying their work!

This fantastic guitarist paired with a top-notch venue made for an amazing night. Kenny is one of the best guitarists I've seen and The Factory is easily the best indoor venue in the St Louis area. It has wide seats, ample bars and bathrooms, and easy access to the highway.

Opening musician, King Solomon Hicks, was super! He’s one to watch and I’d go see him again. Kenny Wayne Shepherd was amazing. Nonstop music, practically. More than talented back up group. Superb!

  • Too Short

by Vicki on 6/25/23Five Flags Center - DubuqueRating: 3 out of 5

Opening duo was great. Kenny Wayne Shepherd was great but way to short for the cost.

  • Kenny Wayne and Band ROCKS!

    by Steph G on 6/24/23The Factory - ChesterfieldRating: 5 out of 5

Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band rocked The Factory in Chesterfield, MO Wednesday night. Playing for close to 2 hours, the band crashed through old favorites as well as a few newer tunes. Noah Hunt’s voice was never better and Kenny Wayne owned the stage, moving from one side to the other for all fans to enjoy. The opening act, Solomon Hicks, was an excellent choice as an opener. This young blues singer/guitarist should have a long successful career ahead. Venue was wonderful. Comfortable seats, nice variety of drinks and staff were very helpful.

  • Great show.
