Keiko Matsui was on top of her game!

The album released during that time was "Doll" which is still my favorite album by her. I have most of her discography which is quite vast (Over 20 US album releases alone) and have many favorites. This was my first time seeing her perform live in person and it was really wonderful and definitely fulfilled one of my lifetime dreams in terms of say a "bucket list". Keiko is a very humble performer who doesn't mind sharing the stage with other artists and band mates. Each of them had multiple areas to shine in solos and recognition. These include a saxophonist (Jackiem Joyner-which I will go on more further down), guitarist (Blake Aaron), bass (Eric Baines) and drummer (can't remember his name). Hearing her music on cd/mp3/radio or wherever is one thing. This includes live recording DVD's.VHS, etc. It's a whole different experience being there live while she's performing. Some songs I may not have paid attention to before end up becoming instant favorites just because of this. She definitely has a gift and I aspire to be almost as good as her one day as I also play piano. On stage with her and other band members was Jackiem Joyner who plays saxophone, flute and a composer also. He's my favorite sax player. I was introduced to him while listening to Pandora radio earlier this year as a similar artist to Keiko. I found out he he had been touring as part of her band and recorded on her most recent album "The Road...". I have his discography as well. It was great getting to see him play in person. It was like getting to see 2 concerts in one with him, even tho it was only Keiko's music that was played. He's also really gifted and has revived my wanting to learn to play sax on top of the other instruments I can play (piano, percussion). After the show she she was in the lobby signing autographs and posing for pictures. I had the chance to shake her hand and speak with her briefly while getting some pictures with her. It was overall a great night. I hope I can see her again soon.
