Keiko's concert was everything I'd hoped for!
by SymonSays on 10/3/12Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra BeachRating: 5 out of 5This is a very intimate venue, probably less than 300 people in attendance, but we were a very loud and enthusiastic crowd, happy to be there. A perfect venue for Keiko Matsui! This was the first stop on Keiko's new tour, and she had just flown in from Tokyo. If she was jet-lagged, she sure didn't show it. She played for about two hours, with an intermission, (and costume change) between sets. I can honestly say Keiko is as beautiful as she is talented. For such a petite little thing, she sure can pound a keyboard. Also enjoyed seeing Keiko play a cowbell with one hand, and a keyboard with the other. Sounds easy? Try it sometime. She played all the songs I had hoped to hear, and some I had never heard. (like from her debut album) The backup band was excellent, especially Jackiem Joyner on sax, although each of them got a chance to showcase their own talents throughout the concert as well. Keiko seemed happy to be there, relating well with the audience, giving us little personal glimpses of herself and her life with her stories between songs. All in all, a great concert, at a very nice, if small, venue. Given that, the price of the tickets was a steal! I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
