  • Keiko Matsui 25th anniversry

by MrKrol on 8/28/13Chrome Showroom at Santa Fe Station Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

I loved it. One of few performers who came down and actually did a signing without paying couple hundered dollars for a VIP ticket on top of a regular ticket just to meet and greet.

  • Keiko Matsui - OUTSTANDING CONCERT!!!

by jazzfan53 on 8/27/13Chrome Showroom at Santa Fe Station Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Keiko's performance was great. She is truly ONE with that keyboard. It was a pleasure to witness someone who exhibits such mastery of such a complex instrument. We especially enjoyed the brief narratives prior to playing each piece. The narratives gave the audience good context to the mood & origin of the music. We will definitely see her again when she makes it back to Las Vegas.

  • Keiko Love

I always love Keiko, and it is great that she is so down to Earth with her fans. She posed for pictures and signed CD's after the show. The only complaint I have is that the show was too short. Only 12 songs, and her percussion section was missing from the band. Although, the sax player was great!

  • Boring!

We left after the fourth song. It all sounded the same. Nice music to listen to while getting ready in the morning. Not for a concert.

I just recently in the past year started listening to Keiko Matsui. I love her sound, music, I love piano. I always wanted to play the piano. Other friends of mine had seen Keiko live in concert, but this was my 1st @ the BIrchmere and it was great she was great. The live performance sounded just like the cd and better. She has just aquired a new fan that will definitely see her again!!

Keiko was amazing! Second time seeing her perform. Only disappointment was how short the concert was. Bread pudding was almost as amazing as the show! :)

  • Keiko Matsui Autumn Tour

    by Turquoise51 on 10/5/12Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

The first time I saw Keiko Matsui was April, 2012 during the Cherry Blossom Festival at Blues Alley in Washington, DC. OMG . . she reached my core! Couldn't make to the Richmond Jazz Fest, so when she came to Birchmere during her Autumn Tour, I had to see her again! Watching the comradery betweeen her and the band members is pure joy. No up-staging! She is gracious, appreciative, humble, endearing, inspiring, amazing!

  • Keiko's concert was everything I'd hoped for!

by SymonSays on 10/3/12Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra BeachRating: 5 out of 5

This is a very intimate venue, probably less than 300 people in attendance, but we were a very loud and enthusiastic crowd, happy to be there. A perfect venue for Keiko Matsui! This was the first stop on Keiko's new tour, and she had just flown in from Tokyo. If she was jet-lagged, she sure didn't show it. She played for about two hours, with an intermission, (and costume change) between sets. I can honestly say Keiko is as beautiful as she is talented. For such a petite little thing, she sure can pound a keyboard. Also enjoyed seeing Keiko play a cowbell with one hand, and a keyboard with the other. Sounds easy? Try it sometime. She played all the songs I had hoped to hear, and some I had never heard. (like from her debut album) The backup band was excellent, especially Jackiem Joyner on sax, although each of them got a chance to showcase their own talents throughout the concert as well. Keiko seemed happy to be there, relating well with the audience, giving us little personal glimpses of herself and her life with her stories between songs. All in all, a great concert, at a very nice, if small, venue. Given that, the price of the tickets was a steal! I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

  • Keiko Matsui is amazing!

by DaniellePayne on 10/3/12Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Keiko Matsui is an exceptionally talented composer and musician, playing a variety of piano instruments, with styles ranging from jazz fusion to modern classical, including very romantic songs, and also very edgy rock jazz pieces. A lot of energy and beautiful music. Personally, very graceful, warm, and funny sharing the history behind each song. 23 albums, every one of them original and beautiful music! I would definitely see her again and recommend her to everyone ! Keiko Matsui and her band of 4 other musicians, including very talented horn player (playing at least 4 different types clarinet, flute, sax) and amazing drummer, bass player, and electric guitar player all supported her music flawlessly. She and her band can easily fill a much larger venue; I would recommend the Times Union Performing Arts Center next time, or the St. Augustine Amphitheater so people can rock out!

The ambience was intimate. The food was good and Keiko and her musicians were on fire. I highly recommend attending her tour before she goes on her solo tour over seas.

One of the best jazz concerts I have ever attended. What a plus having Jockiem Joyner on sax.
