What a wonderful evening. Keiko was amazing as usual. She was brilliant on the keys and a true sweetheart of a professional. Charming and a real crowd pleaser. This was my fourth time seeing her perform, twice at the Birchmere. It was also good seeing Rico (Bassist) and David (Drummer) from the Rippingtons performing as part of her band. They are two enormous talents. The food was hot and delicious. It was a thrill ride of an evening.

  • Great Show

    by cole216 on 2/25/14Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Keiko and her band were very entertaining. She played a great mix of the current album and older favorites. She was even humorous between songs talking about experiences from a previous tour. It was a treat to see Jackiem Joyner on sax as well.. a highly recommended show.

We enjoyed the show! Keiko gave a great show and her warmth and depth of spirit could be felt in her playing. My wife and I really enjoyed it.

I got every bit of my moneys worth. Keiko is just an outstanding artist who seems to genuinely enjoy and appreciate her fans and really puts her energy and enthusiasm into her show.

  • Fantasterrific

by Rulette on 2/25/14Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

As usual, Keiko Matsui was at her best. Precision, dynamic, fun. She has this benevolent melody in her music that you don't get tired of.

  • Outstanding!

Keiko's performance was outstanding! This was our first time at the Birchmere and seeing Keiko Matsui live. We were blown away by Keiko and her band. We had a wonderful evening.

  • How Many Times Can You Say "Awesome"?

by jdogdaddy on 10/30/13Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Keiko's performance was particularly enjoyable because it was being recorded for replay on XMSerius. As a result the house sound system was balanced in favor of Keiko and her keyboards. We first saw her at the Birchmere in 2008 and, although our seats were excellent, the house audio man had the sound system tilted to Keiko's rhythm men, which meant the guitars greatly overshadowed Keiko's performance. This time Keiko's performance was overwhelmingly Keiko and truly AWESOME!

  • Better than ever

by SouthernTourist on 10/23/13Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

This is the fourth time we've seen Keiko perform and she never disappoints us. Her talent seems to grow, and she seems more comfortable when she is speaking about her songs and the inspiration for them. We really enjoy seeing her perform in this smaller, more intimate venue.

  • Keiko was truly extraordinary!!

The show was very enjoyable. She is very gifted and gave all of herself during the performance.

  • An amazing night!!

    by BlackMax12209 on 10/22/13Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a fan of Keiko Matsui for many, many years. I've seen her perform more times than I can count but her concert at the Birchmere was by FAR the best!! We got there early and were able to get a table right by the stage 10 feet from her piano. The sound was great and she played songs from her new and older albums. I especially enjoyed how she would explain her inspiration for a song before performing it.

  • Met All Expectations

    by BruceW1019 on 10/22/13Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I am a Keiko Matsui fan from her days appearing at the Paul Mason Winery in Saratoga CA. as they say "back in the day". Her music continues to be original and finger tappingly good. She played a couple of my favorites, "Bridge Over The Stars" and "Kappa". I have bought serveral of her CD's over the years and purchased the new one at the show. I can recommend the new CD also. I will certainly attend her show when she comes back to the DMV next year.

  • Keiko Matsui - What a Treat!

by LPfromMD on 10/22/13Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

I attended the Oct 19 Keiko Matsui concert an the Birchmere and thoroughly enjoyed it. All of the musicians were outstanding. Keiko has such a great personality which came through as she said a little bit about each song. She stayed afterward for photos and signing CDs. Once again, such a treat!

  • Keiko Enjoyed the Cha-Cha

by GwenieinDC on 10/22/13Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Keiko was Superb! She was so Appreciative of the audience. She played with so much passion, and was so excited and delighted to be in the DMV. Her Band was very good, a great group of professions. She tried really hard (and was successful) in connecting with the audience. Many funny stories told, we all laugh together. Her complete look (hair, makeup, clothes and shoes were a total hit!) It had been a while since I've seen her in person and my boyfriend had never seen her (he was so impressed). I love Jazz and Easy Listening Artist, Keiko is up there with the Best of Them! I've never seen someone so humble and talented. Can't wait till she comes back!....LORD Willing, I'll be there. We Love You Keiko :)

  • Keiko Matsui

by PERSONABLE on 10/22/13Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 5 out of 5

Myself and my two best friends attended the show, we had an amazing time, from the moment Keiko Matsui came on stage to her last song, the band was so together. Keiko was so personable. Family and Friend oriented. Looking forward to her next show, each show always seems to get better and better. Everything was so put together. "PEACE"

  • Keiko was over the top at her last concert.

by Vinnmann on 9/4/13Paul Mason Mt. Winnery - Los GatosRating: 5 out of 5

Keiko Matsui is the best female smooth jazz artist of our time hands down. You will never be let down at one of her concerts. I have attended two in my life and about to go to a third.

  • Keiko was amazing BUT did not enjoy venue

by missdisney on 8/31/13Chrome Showroom at Santa Fe Station Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

This is our second time attending a Keiko Matsui event, and she does a fantastic job. However, there was so much outside noise from the casino that I would not recommend seeing another concert at Chrome.

  • Keiko is always good.

by blueeyes11313 on 8/28/13Chrome Showroom at Santa Fe Station Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Keiko is always good. Her albums are timeless. Ones she wrote years ago seem still current, and not old or outdated at all. This comes from brilliance. I found out at the concert that she just had her 25th album come out. I need to find the ones I am missing. She also said that it was the 25th anniversary of her being an American Citizen. I think she also resides in Japan. Keiko is a brilliant and accomplished pianist. The imagines she puts into music, hold you until the very last note is played. I will always buy every Keiko Matsut's albums.

  • Too much Drums and Bass!

by Saxman48 on 8/28/13Chrome Showroom at Santa Fe Station Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 2 out of 5

Need a real sound man. The problem is rampant. The drums and bass overpowered the piano. Sax player was ho-hum.

  • Keiko Matsui was awesome!

The show was great & the Chrome Showroom was the perfect size. Her backup band included well known musicians too!
