About

One of music's most unique and vulnerable voices, Joy Oladokun is in the midst of a landmark year following the release of her acclaimed new album, Proof of Life (Amigo Records/Verve Forecast/Republic Records). Across its thirteen tracks--including collaborations with Chris Stapleton, Noah Kahan, Manchester Orchestra, Mt. Joy and Maxo Kream--Joy celebrates the simple pleasures of being alive, while also giving voice to some of life's most complex experiences. Of the album, The New York Times proclaims, "her songs are conversational and confessional, and her hooky but profound melodies turn her lyrics into mantras," while the Associated Press declares, "one of the most appealing artists working in the music scene these days." A singular artist, Joy continues to forge her own path, sharing the unique perspective gained from living in today's world as a black, queer person and first-generation child of Nigerian immigrants. Known for her captivating live performances, Joy is currently on the road with Noah Kahan and will embark on an extensive headline tour this fall including shows in Denver, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Austin, San Francisco and many more. Since her debut, Joy has performed at the White House as part of the Respect for Marriage Act signing ceremony as well as on "CBS Saturday Morning," "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," "TODAY," PBS' "Austin City Limits and NPR Music's "Tiny Desk (Home) Concert" series. Joy's music has also been included in Loudmouth, the recent Al Sharpton documentary, CBS' "CSI: Vegas," NBC's "This Is Us," ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," ABC's "Station 19," NBC's "America's Got Talent" and HBO's "And Just Like That" among many others.

    Joy was great, opener sucked

Joy was AMAZING!!! The opener was way to political and their audio just wasn’t good.

Great music, artist, band, but slightly disconnected

    by jasonmelohall on 9/15/23

I love Joy's lyrics and feeling in her voice. I saw her at Outside Lands 2023. The concert was fun and the band played solid. She sang well too. She just seemed to be looking for approval from her bassist rather than connecting with the crowd which took away a little oomph from the performance. Still enjoyed myself and it was a great crowd that came to see her.

She and her whole band delivered. Her music is bomb and she happens to also be hilarious. I really enjoyed the whole show.

Was blessed enough to see Miss. Joy Oladokun at the Keswick Theatre. She did this amazing Green Day mash up. Overall a lively performance! I look forward to seeing her again this fall.

    Great Show

by CEC26 on 5/5/22Bowery Ballroom - New York

The opening act Bre Kennedy was really good. Led up to Joy who is inspiring and wonderful. Her band and back up singers were so fun to watch. Great venue! Her voice, guitar playing and stories about her life are always wonderful to listen to. Can’t wait to see her again! She’s got a loyal following.

She is such a down to earth badass !

by Msmeliss on 5/5/22Bowery Ballroom - New York

I saw Joy at the Mish and at Red Rocks last August and she was so down to earth and just someone you would love to be around and have a sesh. Seeing her in my hometown and at the Bowery was soo sweet! I felt like she let us in on her thoughts and feelings more as she was the headliner. She does not disappoint!

I got there too early to stay to see Joy!

by Jamie on 4/23/22Summit - Denver

I got there at 7 expecting the show to begin at 7:30, but there were 2 opening acts that lasted until 9 pm at least, and while they were good, I had to leave to feed my parking meter. There was no re-entry into the venue, so I was SOL for seeing the act I had actually wanted to see. However, the opening acts were good. Wish I could have come back in!
