Journey is a multi-platinum-selling rock band from San Francisco, California. Originally formed by former members of Santana, the Steve Miller Band and Frumious Bandersnatch, the band’s current lineup includes guitarist and backing vocalist Neal Schon, lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, keyboardist and guitarist Jonathan Cain, keyboardist Jason Derlatka, bassist Todd Jensen and drummer Deen Castronovo. After releasing a few albums — including their self-titled 1975 debut — throughout the early ‘70s, Journey reached a new height of commercial success on the charts with Infinity (1978), Evolution (1979) and Departure (1980), all of which were certified multi-platinum in the U.S. The band earned their first chart-topping album in 1981 with Escape, which also yielded massive hits like “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Open Arms.” Over the decades, Journey has continued to release studio albums and tour the world as one of the best-selling rock acts in music history, with their most recent album, Freedom, released in 2022.

since I was teenager, I had hoped to meet them. I was left without a voice singing all their songs... if they come again, I would see them 1 and 1000 times,
Toto was fabulous! High energy, great talent, great show. Their best hits sounded as good as ever. On the other hand Journey was disappointing. Their band was so loud that it drowned out the lead singer, who by the way is very talented and has a great voice. We enjoyed watching all of the talented musicians but weren't able to enjoy the hits that made them famous. The electric guitar overpowered everything. It didn't seem like the sound balance was right.
Journey was fantastic. Great concert at an awesome venue. Lots of energy from all band members. They definitely gave us their all. A concert to remember.
The music and stage presence of Journey was awesome. Plus the way the lead singer harmonized with the crowd, and how tightly the bassist play with the drummer was so memorable. Plus the guitar rocked!
I love watching Journey. I love their music. I’ve loved it for years, and I have seen them almost every time they’ve come to Salt Lake. I did feel that they had a few glitches in playing their music, not being all together, and that the singing, especially the lead could have been better. It seems like he was trying too hard or really couldn’t Hit all the notes that good
Bands were great... Maverick center sound system below par
I absolutely love Journey. In my book, they’re one of the top three greatest bands of all time. I saw them in December 2021 in Las Vegas at the Virgin Hotel and it was an amazing show. The show at the Maverik Center was my first show at this venue. It was actually really nice. We were in the eighth row. I could not have asked for better seats. Toto was amazing to open the show and seemed very personable. Unfortunately, the Journey show was an almost identical replica of the show in Vegas: same song set, same order, but with seemingly less energy and slightly pitchy. Overall, I was not terribly impressed with their performance this time around. I still love the band, but I am disappointed overall.
One of the best concerts I’ve been to! Journey and Toto exceeded my expectations and my expectations were pretty high!! The only think I would change is the sound! From where we were sitting, the music was too loud to hear the vocals! Great Concert though!
It was a great concert. It's nice to go to the merchandise counter prior to the concert where the line was managed very well. It's easy and smooth to get a shirt. Concessions are easily accessible. Toto had amazing sound. Journey had some sound problems but corrected it midway through the concert. It's not a problem to exit the event as well. All Rogers Place staff are polite and know their jobs well. Always a pleasure to see a concert there.
Loved the show, but when we came in we were ushered up the stairs to upstairs, no merch was for sale, so we thought ok we will wait until after the show and get it, and when we left, they ushered us out the back door straight to the street level, and there was no merch to be purchased there either, so we did not get to buy any merchandise as we never got to go to the main floor where the merchandise was sold. They had a trailer outside when we left but no one was in the trailer to sell merchandise, so no merch for us. Upstairs is where we sat and they had a Maverick place selling beer and drinks and that was it. I heard that on the other levels they had more items and the merchandise, but our level did not have it.
Both Journey and Toto were amazing vocals for both bands did not disappoint! Very entertaining show and so many great hits and memories attached to them. I’d go see them again in a heartbeat! 2 bucket list bands in one evening! ❤️
Concert was amazing. Had a great time with a great band. Need to give a little .ore space between people sitting in chairs on the floor. Sitting on my neighbor was not pleasant.
Journey just keeps getting better. Arnel has taken that show to higher levels! Cannot wait to see them again.
Great concert, these guys are always fun to see in person and still sound great!! Loved seeing them in the Maverik center, more intimate setting and great seating. Thanks for a wonderful SLC show! 😎
I love Journey, will always love Journey. Songs are bangers, always will be bangers. Sang along the whole time, no regrets. Bring a girl and she will kiss you. Thanks Journey for everything, love you guys.
Great experience. The show was fantastic, both Toto and journey were outstanding I would go to there shows again!!
So much fun! Great concert! Nice Concessions! Great Venue!
Sound was terrible! Muffled deep base sounds made understanding the lyrics impossible. Very disappointing! Journey is one of my favorite bands!
It was a great concert. There is a lesson all producers/managers or musicians that create the playlist need to understand. A group like this (oldies) isn't producing new material. They don't have a new album to promote. The most important song of the concert is the first song. It sets the stage for the whole concert. Please start the concert with a familiar song that everyone knows and wants to sing along with. Journey didn't do that. In fact their first 2 songs were not familiar to most of the crowd. VERY STUPID!!!!! In fact only 3 of their first 10 songs were hits that everyone knew. This was a huge mistake. When the crowd is into the concert, they stand, sing, clap and record. A few of those songs had none of those things happening during the song. Finally 6 of the last 8 songs were hits that everyone got excited about. The sure sign that the concert is over after the band leaves the stage is when they turn on the house lights. After the band exited, they left the house lights off for a couple of minutes expecting the crowd to bring the band out for an encore. About 1/3 of the crowd got up and started walking out. That signaled that they were done. The house lights went up and we all left, some of us wanting more. Please learn the lesson that people want to hear songs they can rock out to, sing along with and get excited over. Quit playing songs that we don't know.
Played the hits and put on a great show. Loves Toto as well, didn't realize how many of their songs I knew.
