About

Journey in Concert

As the original legends of arena rock, few bands in existence put on a show quite like Journey. Anchored by singer Arnel Pineda's thrilling vocals and Neal Schon's unstoppable guitars, the band continues to show fans, both old and new, exactly how it's done as they tear through marathon sets of classics like "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Open Arms." After a short break from their relentless tour schedule, they're primed to blow minds again in 2014, pairing up with Steve Miller Band for select dates that are sure to be the stuff of classic rock legend for years to come.

Journey Background

San Francisco-born Journey is the quintessential arena rock band. Assembled in 1973 from the ashes of Santana and Frumious Bandersnatch, the band has since gone through a number of line-up changes — only stalwart guitarist Neal Schon has been with every incarnation. Despite a rotating roster, the band has sold 47 million albums in the US, and is consistently named one of the ten best American rock bands in history. While the '70s and '80s provided them with the most commercial success, their current manifestation with Filipino singer Arnel Pineda has given them truly global breadth.

    Wow! Just Wow!

by DetJoe on 10/3/11Comfort Dental Amphitheatre - Englewood

OK, I'll bottom-line it for you: I am a long-time Journey fan, totally convinced that young Steve Perry had the best rock voice I have ever heard. But listen: Arnel Pineda comes really, really close! He is truly excellent, and despite the fact that he mimics Perry a lot, he makes the concert really enjoyable. The band is great, and Neal has lost nothing as far as I can see. They played their hits, pretty much all the ones that you want, and did a couple of new ones. Great energy with the crowd, and the whole thing was a blast! Foreigner was great too, by the way, despite being essentially reduced to a tribute band (no Mick Jones at this show, and Lou Gramm left a while ago). Still, they gave a wildly energetic show that was really great. I didn't arrive in time to see Night Ranger, so I can't comment on them

    awesome show!!!

by rightwingedcowboy on 10/3/11Comfort Dental Amphitheatre - Englewood

The only thing that would of made that concert better would be having it at Red Rocks versus Fiddlers. It was definitely a little crowded.

    FOREIGNER WAS AMAZING!!

by NANNERS8 on 10/3/11Comfort Dental Amphitheatre - Englewood

GREAT MUSIC, GREAT BANDS, GREAT SOUND. LAWN SEATING. GOOD BUT PEOPLE DONOT RESPECT PERSONAL SPACE AND JUST MOVE IN ON PEOPLE AND MAKE THEIR OWN ROOM. SUGGEST THEY GET THERE EARLIER TO FIND THEIR OWN SPACE SO THEY ARE NOT SITTING ON TOP OF ANYONE! DRUNK PEOPLE AND LAWN SEATING/WALKING DO NOT GO HAND IN HAND, BUT MUSIC, SOUND AND BANDS ON A PERFECT COLORADO OCTOBER NIGHT WAS GREAT!

Journey was stiff with the new lead singer

by MountainHighness on 10/3/11Comfort Dental Amphitheatre - Englewood

No chemistry with the Journey band members. The new lead singer was fantastic but you could not hear his voice unless it was a slow song. The other band members stood in their 'places' like they were the back up band for an American Idol audition. No interaction even with the lead singer. The music was memorable but not enough for the price of the ticket. Foreigner was fantastic. A band that has retained its great sound over the decades and they were very tight together. Great songs.

Absolutely awesome!! One of the BEST concerts I've seen in my life. (Very happy it was so good, as my last concert (U2) was horrible at Broncos stadium.) Perfect night and a perfect concert to go with it, no matter what the name of the venue has been changed to. ;)-

Journey kicked a$$ and Foreigner flat out rocked!

by jfowler69 on 10/3/11Comfort Dental Amphitheatre - Englewood

Close your eyes and it was Steve Perry singing for Journey. Being a life long Journey fan, I was skeptical going to see them but they delivered in spades. Great show, great music and outstanding vocals! $9.75 for a beer is absolutely ridiculous!!

    Do not miss this concert!

So much fun-it was like one big sing-a-long! The singer is amazing!

    Foreigner stole the show!

by GirlyD on 10/3/11Comfort Dental Amphitheatre - Englewood

No one will EVER replace Steve Perry. Pineda tries but does not have the range or power for stadium rock. Foreigner should have headlined the show! Especially after Schon's serenade of is reality show girlfriend.

    Decent Show Bad Venue

by Buster88 on 10/3/11Comfort Dental Amphitheatre - Englewood

Comfort Dental Theater is a lousy place for rock and roll, but the bands played very well. Journey seemed a little flat, but Foreigner really rocked out, so did Night Ranger, but there again the sound was too low at the venue, so maximum rocking was not possible.

everyone should see this at least once!

    by llcb132 on 10/3/11Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

It was ashame that the band had to play louder that Arnel would sing, because he just can NOT hit the high notes like Steve Perry could sing them. Over all the band Journey was great. Foreinger put on a great show!

    Foreigner rocked the house!

by Brooklynkid on 10/3/11Hard Rock Casino Albuquerque Presents The Pavilion - Albuquerque

It was a beautiful Friday night in centrla New Mexico. The show opened early (yes-I said early) when Night Ranger took to the stage at 6:50! They were ok for an opening act. Then, Foreigner took the stage. I must say that I wasn't expecting a lot - I thought they would be good. Boy, was I WRONG! They were absolutely fantastic. The music sounded as good as on vinyl. The lead singer had tremendous presence and knew how to carry a show. The sets were so original as they projected pix of the Sandias at sunset and the Balloon Fiesta. The projections were not only on the back of the set, but throughout the stage. The performances of "Urgent" and "Jukebox Hero" were just amazing. We couldn't believe what we were experiencing. Journey was just ok. We actually left after four songs.

    Sound Problems

by Penders on 10/3/11Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

Both Night Ranger and Foreigner were short changed with the sound on the night. Foreigner were very tight and true to their recordings but both the vocals and especially the drums were way too quiet. I don't know who did their mix but it was poor. Journey on the other hand were also very tight and the new(ish) singer was outstanding. Their sound was excellent and you could hear everything in balance. This is not the first time I have been to the Pavillion (James Taylor) and been disappointed with the sound quality/mix.

    Awesome as always

    by Trisha72 on 10/3/11Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

This was probably my 15th Journey concert, 4th Foreigner and 2nd Night Ranger, and as always they were wonderful. I miss Steve Perry of course, and I wonder why there isn't even one original or even long time member of Foreigner touring.

    Journey was forgettable!

by CLVE on 10/3/11Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

The lead vocals were weak, the mike had issues, the volume was too low on vocal, lead voice was intermittent. Journey, it's time to find a new front man who can hit the notes!

Journey just isn't the same without Steve Perry.

by MisterMe on 10/3/11Woodlands Pavilion - Woodlands

Foreigner and Night Ranger brought their A games! My wife and I danced and sang our hearts out. So much fun remembering those great songs from our teen years however, I can not say the same about Journey. Yes, they sounded like Journey, but they were not Journey without Steve Perry. Maybe it would have been better if they had sung more of the familiar tunes. When I attend a concert, I expect at least 75% of the songs sung to be familiar ones with a few others thrown in for good measure. Not so with Journey.
