Incredible performer. Incredible performance. Town Hall isn't the best venue, but it was a solid concert.

Josh Ritter at Town Hall NYC
by satchmoman on 5/20/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5I'm a lover of music and songwriting, but am new to Josh Ritter. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance last night, and would see him again. I even purchased 2 CD's. I was getting a Bob Dylan, Bruce Springstein and even a little Paul Simon vibe, and really liked his energy. The stories took me on a soulful journey, and I was moved by how supportive the music was to the lyric. Well done.
JOSH RITTER - EXUDES SHEAR JOY
by DISAPPOINTED177 on 5/20/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5About 4-5 years ago, I was introduced to JOSH RITTER via a singer/songwriter friend of mine. Over the past few years I have picked up a couple of JOSH's CDs and ANIMAL YEARS still gets a ton of play in my car. Last night, I finally got to see JOSH RITTER LIVE. Putting a face, speaking voice, humor and personality to a song or an artist makes a huge difference. I'm not going to go into "recap mode" here because I think part of the experience is not knowing what this kid is going to do next. Suffice it to say, that the concert was one of the best I've been to. He exudes absolute JOY from the moment he walks out on stage. and during the 2 hour show, takes you from ROCKIN' it out, to dead silent "church" and back again a few times. The man is a true artist, and a genuine lover of his craft. For all of you MUSIC LOVERS here... for all of you SINGER/SONGWRITER lovers here, JOSH RITTER gets my HIGHEST recommendation. You will NOT be disappoint
Leaves & Kings

Josh Ritter + Dawes = Incredible Night
by JimCiago on 5/20/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5Dawes was one of the best warmup bands I've ever seen. Their energy surpassed that of their recordings but they didn't compromise at all in perfection. Josh Ritter is the best songwriter currently alive. His stories flow through you like the smoothest drink and his band's intensity was alive. Josh was the most genuinely excited person I know of to be playing music...and the audience fed off his great vibes.
Energy is Absolutely Incredible!
by LeDiamantFou on 5/20/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5I had originally seen Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band live at New York Summerstage, 2009 and was struck by the energy of the performance - both high and low, timed perfectly. In so few words, it brought the whole audience together. Having had such an incredible experience outdoors, I was almost reluctant to see him at Town Hall; however I was not disappointed in the least. Josh's sense of humor takes the music to another level and his performance at Town Hall was just a wonderful, if not better, than seeing him a year ago. Even for those who have never heard his music, his concerts are an amazing experience!
outstanding
by Anonymous on 5/20/10Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5town hall was more intimate than i had thought and there wasn't a bad seat. Ritter & crew had great energy and had put some thought into the show clearly. played a ton of songs and had some good interaction with the audience.

One of the best shows I've ever seen. Josh Ritter's smile and personality teamed up with his beautiful voice and audacious band to lift my spirits and ease my soul.
Josh Ritter is a terrific showman
by UK52 on 5/17/10Vic Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5Unlike the bulk of the audience, I had never even heard of Josh Ritter until a friend invited me to go to the concert. This was a very pleasant surprise! Josh Ritter is exceptionally talented: he writes great music, is a very talented singer and guitarist and puts on a heck of a show! His band was very tight and the arrangements of the sets and songs were great. If you have the chance - go see him! PS - Joe Pug, the opening act was darn good too! My only complaint would be the sound mix at the Vic: the bassist was way too heavy in the sound mix, reverberating through the hall and drowning Josh's vocals a bit too much.
better than the DVD
by badpenquin on 5/17/10Vic Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5Josh Ritter put on quite a show Sat. nite at the Vic. Sound was excellant. Could hear all the words even with the full band screaming. Well worth the money. If you have a chance go see him before he becomes "too big" for these small venues.
Great Show
by DaddyDuke on 5/17/10Vic Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5Honestly, My wife and I had never heard of Josh Ritter before we went to the concert. and all we kept saying afterward was "why have we not heard his music before?". Fantastic show great music. He looked like a kid on stage having the time of his life...a ton of energy. Amazing.

I have four Josh Ritter CDs and I love his music. But my first concert experience was awesome! I am still grinning ear-to-ear. He and his band give an amazing performance. When the artist and the band are having so much fun it is contagious. It was even better than I expected, and that is saying a lot! I would go again any time Josh Ritter & the Royal City Band are in the Midwest.

Josh and the band were fantastic! High-energy and personable, they kept the crowd enthralled the whole show.
Best show I've ever seen
by Anonymous on 5/16/10Vic Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5Josh Ritter is an incredible performer, and this show was no exception. His enthusiasm was great--he had so much energy, and it was clear that he enjoyed himself. I am SO glad I came to this show. Thank you, Josh!

We a had a great time because you could tell Josh and the band (especially Josh) were having a blast themselves! Well done! Josh Ritter is so talented. Joe Pug as an opener was a delight!
Joe Pug and Josh Ritter changed my life.
by kebs12 on 5/16/10Vic Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5This show was a religious experience. Two of my favorite artists in one show; at one point they were even on stage together. I stood in the second row and got to hear all of my favorite songs up close. The venue was great and the audience was enthusiastic. And then I met Joe and Josh after the show, and they are two of the nicest men alive. Josh had a conversation with each person individually and gave lots of hugs. Oh my goodness. I am still basking in the residual happiness.
Epic
by silentm on 5/16/10Vic Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5Josh is absolutely astounding. His new album is a creative exploration that can stand solidly with his collection of masterpieces. There is no one else writing music like this today. And no one is PERFORMING like this either. Josh gives 150% on stage for every song, every show. He said in an interview that it was an honor to play for an audience, and he owns that on stage. The concert was sheer bliss and brilliance, the best concert I've ever attended. It left me breathless.
Josh Ritter was a lot of fun
