Josh Ritter: How Could you not Have Fun!!!

by kahunajoel on 7/24/09Bluebird Theater - Denver

IF YOU LISTEN to Josh Ritter you would have really enjoyed the concert last night. He has amazing energy and albeit he didn’t play a favourite song of mine, Idaho, he still splashed through the night with solos and jams with his band, mixed in with some acoustic and some mix n' match Oldies, but Goodies. He puts out a better live show than a cd, his style doesn’t need any fancy-schmancy studio glitz and glam. It’s real and deep, its pure soul and street. Granted that soul may long for water, a very interesting and fairly consist motif, (don’t remember motif from high school?....look it up) and instead of pavement it’s a winding gravel road. (see song titled: Idaho) IF YOU DONT listen to Ritter, you missed out on a pretty cheap Concert? Which is the perfect 1st date, if you arent too sure about the girl/guy. If you don’t pan out, you got a sweet concert in and if you do work out, then Josh Ritter will likely be one of, "our songs." What is there to lose, unless you park at restricted street, where 6pm-12am is gonna bust you out a $25 ticket, and then on Aus. 13th it doubles up to a $50 fine. Thank you Officer Vashall. (that may or may not be his real name, really no way to tell)

    fantastic performance

by lmgr on 7/24/09Bluebird Theater - Denver

josh ritter was simply amazing last night. i've seen him once before in newport, ky and he blew that performance out of the water. he incorporated beetles songs, modest mouse songs, mini jam sessions. and the new songs he played were just as beautiful as his currently releases songs. he has such a songwriting gift. and the crowd couldn't have been better - everyone was into it, cheering, singing along. i will absolutely be back to see josh ritter.

Great josh ritter with a subpar joe pag

by andream on 7/13/09Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

This is our second Josh Ritter performance and I have to say he just gets better! He has grown so much in his comfort level while on stage that his fun and playful personality is beyond infectious. His opening acts however leave something to be desired. The forgotten name from the previous concert and Joe Pug from this most recent concert are absolutely boring. The performances are all done in the same chords and are so monotone you are yawning and desperately looking at your watch long before Josh Ritter hits the stage. It is a very painful price to pay to see Josh.

    Josh Ritter is Disarming

by PisoMojado on 7/12/09Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

I have seen Josh, solo or with his band, each tome he has been to the Twin Cities since he opened for Jimmie Dale Gilmore at First Avenue several years ago. He never fails to disarm the audience and deliver a joyous performance. The Varsity performance was, as always, delightful. He and the band, which is evolving into an extraordinary ensemble, seemed to be having so much fun. It was infectious.

    So great!

by SEJSEZ on 7/11/09Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

Josh Ritter rocked the Varsity. Everything about the show was wonderful, he puts on a great live show. Also, the Varsity is an underrated venue-- beautiful, atmospheric, sparkling lights and tables around the edges, space to rock out in the middle. Perfect.

    Josh Ritter Energy and Engagement

by Gully on 7/11/09Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

I loved the way Josh and his band mixed high energy rock numbers with thoughtful ballads. Many concert -goers around me added to the experience by singing Josh's easy to remember lyrics.

    Josh Ritter Rocks!

by moranda on 7/10/09Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

The opening act was a little bit of a downer, but Josh Ritter was well worth the wait. he played most of the greats, (more than half) from Animal years and Historical Conquests, Hello Starling....he played a very full, energenic two hours. The Varisty Theatre was a cool venue--sound was good--will go back again!
