Worth the 4 hour drive!
by marysuepie on 5/16/10Vic Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5Ritter brought great energy and passion to a nicely varied playlist. Not sure who had more fun, us or him! What a joyful performance!
best performance ever!
by Atlantiss on 5/14/10Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5yet another amazing show for josh, always a great experience
Josh is genuine, and his wife is adorable.
by IhuggedJoshRitter2010 on 5/14/10Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5He smiles and the audience smiles with him when he sings. His band members are euqally caring and sympathetic. Not meaning to sound like an abused child, but their affection is such a great factor as to why I love this band. Singing Moon River. Also, meeting Josh after the concert, one realizes that he is not just putting up an act when he performs. His music is amazing because he dedicates so much thought to it. He is eloquent, which shows in his love for writing. Josh as a musician, I greatly admire. Josh as a person, I seek to follow.

carefree, intelligent, joyful and heart wrenching. Josh is a great songwriter and loves singing his music as much as we love to hear it.

Josh Ritter is an unforgettable performer. I've never seen someone who looks so thrilled to be on stage singing songs. He beams. He sounds as good if not better than his recordings. LOVED IT! You should not miss this show if it comes anywhere close to you. The opening act, Dawn Landes, was good --but just note that she played for about an hour (we did not properly warn our babysitter how late we'd be).
Josh plays with all his heart.
by UnkL on 5/14/10Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5Josh Ritter seems to truly love what he does. A smile never left his face. And at the end of the show, when he thanked the crowd for the last time, he was jumping up and down as if the crowd's response had truly made him giddy. He is gracious and humble, not to mention his musicianship and his ability to sound better live than on all his albums that I love immensely. Something I did not think would be possible. I heard all the songs I love, both old and new. I drove from Little Rock, AR to Memphis, TN and jumped on a plane to Atlanta, GA. Well worth the effort.

Wow!
by Sueby on 5/12/10Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5This guy is the best. He is the happiest performer that i have ever seen...and you can tell that he just loves what he is doing! And he should...he's exceptionally good at it! I threw in some of his old albums after the show and i have to say that he is one of those guys that might even be better live. Next time he is in town.....go ;-)
Excited to be alive
by Deral on 5/11/10Rams Head Live! - BaltimoreRating: 4 out of 5Josh and his band are fantastic in concert. Josh is all smiles and makes you feel excited to be alive. Quite a great experience!
Unbelievable
by Bethne on 5/10/10Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5Ritter is undeniably the best artist that has come around in a very long time. Not only was it the start to his tour this year, but the new elements he added to his performance were unforgettable. I also had the opportunity to meet him after the show and he is always so gracious. Thank you all for allowing ME to be a part of something so spectacular!
Josh Ritter Rocked the TLA!
by LBoogieandGioSplat on 5/8/10Theatre of Living Arts - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5Josh Ritter and the Royal City Band rocked the TLA! Never have I seen an artist so comfortable and thrilled to be on a stage. All the while, Josh exudes a sense of humbleness and graciousness. It's incredible to be a part of the audience and feed off of his excitement. After each song, the crowd burst into cheers as if he had just made the most amazing play of the evening. Josh Ritter and the Royal City Band is a gift to the world.
Josh Ritter and the Royal City Band were amazing!

Loved Ritter and Langhorn
by Antoinette101 on 7/29/09The Blue Note - ColumbiaRating: 4 out of 5Awsome performance by really great artists. I think the people in Columbia were lame though. The turn out was not great, being that it was a Monday night and Mizzou was out for summer, and few people were drunk enough to dance. . . how rude. But I thought the music was fun and I would have danced even if I was sober. Although Ritter chose my least favourite songs of his, it was still a ton of fun, and my least favourite of Ritter is still a hell of a lot better of some other crap out right now.
Josh Ritter Kindred spirt to all
by msalleyx on 7/28/09The Blue Note - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5Fabulous as usual, Lets not forget the Band these guys are also extremely accomplished musicians. Josh and Band make the whole concert fun and unforgettable. Don't miss a chance to see the amazing Josh Ritter, musician, writer and visionary.
a historical conquest
by DogorWhoever on 7/28/09The Blue Note - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5Josh Ritter's first night in Columbia was nothing short of amazing. At first I was embarrassed for the lack of attendance. Ritter should, and has, filled auditoriums greater than the Blue Note. However, the way he and his band fed off such a small audience made us feel like we were 10,000 strong. The mood of the night was set by the opening band Longhorne Slim whose albums don't do their live performance justice. They were loud and snappy and I am now a fan. If you haven't seen Ritter perform live and in person, then you have not seen him. Josh Ritter and company are true musicians and artists. I won't miss him if he is ever in town again.
Friggin' awesome
by hop2258 on 7/28/09The Blue Note - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5It was a complete and awesome experience. I would recommend anyone to go see it
Go and see JR
by Ritterfan on 7/27/09Bluebird Theater - DenverRating: 5 out of 5Even though I'm from the same home town as JR is (Moscow, ID) this was the first time I saw him in concert. After watching him, I'm left wondering why I haven't seen him earlier. He was amazing. From the moment he stepped onto the stage with his band, there was a big grin on his face and it didn't leave all throughout the concert. It looked like he was having the time of his life performing his music to people who enjoy listening to his music.
Ritter...wow!
by Jss427 on 7/26/09Bluebird Theater - DenverRating: 5 out of 5Josh Ritter plays a great set. He is still humble and appreciative. I love the way he interacts with the crowd and seriously...his songs/sets are wonderful. I could listen for hours and hours.
he's a good man
by smblina on 7/26/09Bluebird Theater - DenverRating: 5 out of 5as you stand watching a boyish-looking josh, head tilted, sway with his guitar as he swoons into the microphone, his smile is contagious. you can tell he loves performing, loves what he is singing and playing, which makes watching him all the more enjoyable. they played a few new songs not out on album yet, a few from the latest album, and a lot of the good, folky, old songs whose lyrics drip their sugary sweetness into the hungry mouths of the listener's ears.
