The actor who played Joseph was terrible. Narrator was medium. Can't broadway cast better than american idol rejects?

  • Beyond Amazing!

I have seen Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat multiple times by various groups. I even saw it with Donny Osmond as Joseph. This production ranked right up there with them all. I am amazed at how different producers can bring their own special twist to a great story. In this production, King Pharoah ROCKED! He was the BEST Elvis imitator I have seen in the various Joseph productions I have attended and I am a HUGE Elvis fan. Also, Jacob and his other sons were the best actors I have seen in those roles - loved their songs! Joseph, narrator, EVERYONE was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Joseph always a good bet

by alansebree on 4/15/15Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 4 out of 5

The Joseph actor/singer was a little weak but everyone else was outstanding. The narrator and the brothers were extremely good. The overall presentation was also outstanding.

  • Joseph play top rate.

This musical was as energetic as the dreamcoat was beautiful. The variety of styles of the music was outstanding. The singers / actors were superb and delivered the story without a flaw. There surely was not a bored observer in the theater. This is a production I would enjoy attending over and over.

It was a comedic and FUN perspective on a serious bible incident. The show was lighthearted, energetic, kept a nice pace without lagging (finished in 2 hours vs 3!) and kept your attention the entire time! And lots of bare chested man candy on the stage too...can't be mad at that! GOOD SHOW!!!!!

  • Amazing doesn't begin to describe it

THe cast and crew were awesome. The choreography, and dancing were truly amazing. There are not enough superlatives to describe this show. Each number was better than the one before. I sat with goosebumps on my arms and tears in my eyes the whole time. WOW!!!

  • Outstanding Improvements

Having seen Joseph a number of times I was at first skeptical of the changes to modernize the original. However I soon realized that the important aspects of this musical remained intact and the changes added a new vitality to it.

So good and entertaining. Amazing performances from the whole cast. Not a dull moment. Loved the stage setting minus the flash of lights which blinded us at times. Everything else was A-1.

  • Joseph best musical ever.

I traveled 5 hours to see this same tour company perform Joseph. I have seen this musical in various productions, community Theather , high school, and broadway. By far my favorite musical. I was not disappointed at all. Ace Young and wife. Diana were fantastic.

  • Horrible for the cost.

I have been to many Broadway shows and this was without a doubt the worst one I have ever seen. I would give it zero stars if this site would allow it!! The leads were not good singers especially the male lead who seemed to be singing through his nose the entire night. This may explain why the venue was half full at best. The supporting cast were much better. It was definitely not worth $87.00. I could have went to Beef and Boards and spent half that, got dinner and a better performance. Do not waste your hard earned money!!!

Great performance! Missed having the children on the side adding depth to the music.

Thoroughly enjoyed this show. I knew the Joseph story but didn't expect such humor. Fabulous show!

  • Joseph: Disappointment

    by susiem31 on 4/13/15Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 2 out of 5

I want my money back. The lead singer's voice was nasally and ruined the role of Joseph. The narrator's voice was good, but she was not the right person for this role. Furthermore, her costuming was a distraction. I've seen dozens of touring Broadway shows and never have I been more disappointed with a show.

  • Joseph was good but we loved the new arrangement!

    by Nicknametaken2 on 4/12/15Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 4 out of 5

I want to preface this review with the fact that I've seen Donny Osmond as Joseph twice. Not intending to brag at all. Donny is the ultimate Joseph in my opinion and all other actors never achieve the same pinnacle. I thought the headliners were very good but other facets of this performance stand out to me. The new arrangement (no children's choir - WHAAAAAAAT!?) actually worked really well!! It was like seeing the performance with fresh eyes!!! New props and fun costumes were also very welcome. Simeon stole the show!! "Those Canaan Days" was phenomenal! Paul Castree is amazing...his facial expressions were hilarious! Perfect casting! My favorite scene probably in ANY Joseph I've ever seen!! If you even like Joseph a little, you will enjoy this show. Go in with an open mind and be pleasantly surprised.

  • Good, Not Great

by Sugawama on 4/11/15Clowes Memorial Hall - IndianapolisRating: 3 out of 5

I love this musical, but this is not the best version of the show I've seen. The sets were lackluster, and Ace Young as the lead was neither a good actor nor singer. At intermission we all talked about how bad he was, and wondered if the the nasal, weird quality of his voice was some sort of choice for the character, or is that how really sings??? Either way, just about every time he opened his mouth, I was taken out of the show and cringed. The supporting cast, for the most part, was excellent. The pharaoh needs to enunciate better. I missed most of what he sang, but he did a pretty good Elvis. The brothers' scenes kept the show moving and brought energy. We had fun and enjoyed the show, but wow, how in the world did Ace get cast in this (or anything)?

  • Extremely Enjoyable

The production was great. Clowes is a fantastic venue. It was extremely enjoyable evening.

Actors used hand held microphones instead of ear pieces. Maybe the sound quality could have been better when singing softly or solo parts. Making sure all props are in working order. When show stopped for mechanical repairs you tend to lose the zest of the show, took a few minutes to get back into the show,

  • Talk About A Major Disappointment!

by Anonymous on 1/30/15Sacramento Community - SacramentoRating: 1 out of 5

I've always love this musical and would have never imagined to leave a bad review on this. I've seen it couple of times before and I've always enjoyed every single experience. I mean, what's not to love? It's funny, the songs are great and the energy is always amazing! Let's talk about this performance now. Cast: The cast, except for Joseph and the Narrator, was great. They had really good energy and they were having fun. Joseph: Ace Young was definitely a wrong choice for this role. Horrible acting and monotone throughout the whole performance. He did get better at the last 15 minutes but he was still pretty bad. Narrator: Diana DeGarmo was probably the worst narrator I have ever seen/heard. It almost feels like she was too focused on showing off her singing ability than to tell a story. Her voice was irritating, annoying and unlikable. Her acting and her costumes reminded me of one of those girls on The Price is Right. Costumes: The costumes look weird, especially the technicolor dreamcoat. The coat looked like it's from a middle school play. Overall, I will never recommend this musical to anyone as long as Young and DeGarmo are leads because they are the main reason why this performance was ruined. I'm sure they are good singers, it's just they really should not be in this musical.

Talk about a major disappointment! I've seen this musical couple of times before and all those performances were amazing. I've always love this musical and I was extremely excited to bring my husband with me this time. Let me just say this, Ace Young and DeGarmo completely ruined the show. I'm sure they are good singers, it's just they shouldn't in Joseph at all. Young was completely monotone up until the last 15 minutes of the show, there was no emotion from him whatsoever and it was bad. DeGarmo? She was probably one of the worst, if not the worst, narrators. She was too focused on showing off her singing ability than to tell the story. Also, her voice was so unlikable and it just made you want to stop listening. I do have to point out that the rest of the cast was really good. Overall, I so not recommend anyone to see this musical as long as those two are the leads.
