  • Not too impressed

by MTHfan on 6/17/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

This is my third time seeing Joseph.. the lead, Ace Young, was not as powerful of a singer as I have seen in the past, His solos were very acty but not strong on singing! The caribbean themed song performer (about Benjamin) also not as strong as past performances. Overall not my favorite Joseph performance but with all that said if you have never seen .. still worth seeing.

  • AVERAGE AT BEST

I was not really impressed by the play, I waited a long time to see it and was a little disappointed. Joseph's coat and the rest of the costumes were not Pantages worthy.

  • "Joseph" was amazing!

My family and I are great admirers of musicals, especially those by Andrew Lloyd Webber. We have always loved the story of Joseph and his multicolored dreamcoat. We have been waiting for this musical to come to Los Angeles and so happy that we were able to attend. What an incredible show! Diana and Ace did a marvelous job as well as the rest of the ensemble. And to the Pantages - - continue with your wonderful work of bringing incredible musicals to the City of Angels!

  • If You've Never Seen the Play...See it! Otherwise

by ShelbyShelby on 6/17/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

It was a good show, for the most part. But for us old timers that have been raised on the original formats with great singer and the children's choir, it just does not have the same ZING. His voice [high pitched and child-like] does not match his beautiful male physique and her voice seems stressed, overworked and not happen to sustain quality high and/or strong notes. Some of the little modernizations were cute; some corny, but that's okay. All in all, I recommend for those who have seen the play to see it; if you have seen the earlier renditions, you will not enjoy this much. I would not see this version or troupe again.

We had great seats and a very enjoyable experience.

The play was great. The brothers were amazing especially Simeon & Reuben. The Pharaoh did an excellent job too. The narrator & Joseph could have done better, vocally. Any idea when will "Phantom of the Opera" be featured?

We had a great time watching the show. We had the best view from our seats. I wish to see Phantom of the Opera on your theater. Any idea when?

  • Joseph could be stronger

    by TheatreGuy1000 on 6/16/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

I think the overall play was good. The brothers were awesome. Joseph could be a little more powerful vocally. Was hoping for more.

  • Fantabulous!

  • Joseph and Amazing Technicolor Coat was Amazing!!

So enjoyable. So uplifting! The narrator set the tone for the whole show -- awesome. Loved the music and the dancing. So much life!!!

  • Fast-paced and enjoyable show!

    by BeauBoy78 on 6/16/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

The musical dance numbers were entertaining, and the story moved along quickly, so I was never bored. It's the perfect length time-wise...I never found myself checking my watch to see what time it was. There wasn't a one really memorable, stand-out song, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Highly recommend.

  • forget about your worries - just dream ......

by Schtiehne on 6/16/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

Very good production, outstanding cast. The voices of Joseph and Narrator a little highpitched. Overall highly recommendable event.

  • Great Performances by the leads! But....

by DisneyMike on 6/16/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

I thought Ace and Diana were really good. They both have great theater voices. Ace's energy was infectious. The quality of the set and costume design were underwhelming. Not sure if this is because this is just an LA stop (vs. a traveling production)? I didn't really do much research into it. It was kind of short! The first half was over in less than 45 minutes. And I don't remember the entire play being in song, which may be the reason it was shorter than I remember? We saw the play because it was a seat sale - so given that we paid $40 for our tickets it was enjoyable. Had I paid the going rate for where we were sitting, I would have been really disappointed. HATED the Elvis impersonation - its so cliche.

Very good show. Very talented cast. Lots of high energy performances.

  • American Idol and Broadway don't always mix

    by Melody02 on 6/16/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 2 out of 5

If I had known the two leads were former American Idol contestants I might have reconsidered going. Diana DeGarmo had some great moments, and then some moments where I wasn't feeling it as much. I can't say there was ever a time I was feeling it with Ace Young. Joseph was easily overshadowed vocally by his brothers. I loved "There's One More Angel in Heaven" and "Those Canaan Nights" - they were definite highlights of the performance. I was disappointed by the choreography in "Go Go Go Joseph." My friend said she had seen amateur theaters pull out a better performance than what we saw on the Pantages, which was weird because other scenes had great choreography, and they had good dancers on hand.

The narrators voice was too weak and didn't carry the story well.. Everything else was great and fun and uplifting!

  • Joseph, horrible

by shantele on 6/15/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 1 out of 5

It was horrible.... I've seen other plays here and they were wonderful, this play was an embarrassment to the person I brought as a birthday gift....it was so bad that I'm second guessing ever purchasing tickets again...

  • The brother's numbers were superb

by Anonymous on 6/15/14Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

This is one of my favorite short musicals and I've seen it many times performed all over the world so not my first rodeo. Everyone should see Joseph at least once in their lifetime. The ensemble brothers were the highlight followed by the narrator who had perfect vocal and enthusiasm. Joseph was good but lacked vocal endurance most songs were done in a spoken clipped manner. Loved the setwork with videos. Added so much
