  • What a great play by talented young people!

by Jedley on 6/30/16Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft LauderdaleRating: 4 out of 5

We were very pleasantly surprised to find a high caliber play come from a local troupe for young aspiring actors. The actor that played Joseph was superb and had my very critical, theatre-going family impressed with his beautiful voice, his presence on the stage and how he made the role his own. The staging was creative and the children were obviously inspired to do well. The supporting cast was so well prepared and energetic that it made the show very memorable. We really enjoyed our evening with this inspiring group of actors and left with a huge smile on our faces!

I missed the fact that it was a school program when I booked the tickets, which was my fault. That being said, I have experienced school programs in the recent past that were excellent, and unfortunately this was not one of them. Most of the kids did not seem interested in taking part in the production. The few that did I think rated their own performance higher than it's reality; it struck me as a number of spoiled children who have never been told "no" in their lives, not even in a constructive manner. The sound production was poor, with frequent changes in volume throughout the first act. I'm not certain if the sound was improved during the second act, as we left at intermission due to our not having enjoyed the first half of the show. The theater itself was beautiful, and the staff friendly and welcoming.

  • Wonderful Show and a great attempt

My only thought is I buy tickets based on the show...and nowhere did it say this was a school production. Until I arrived and saw tons of parents with flowers to present to their little ones was I ever think it was an amateur production. I didn't look at the price of the tickets until then and saw I was getting what I paid for. OOPS I think shows that are from schools or camps etc should be part of the Ticketmaster listing. The person who played Joseph was professional quality and the childrens choir was amazing as they were always played by kids anyway! Altogether BRAVO to the production! Postings on Ticketmaster is their job!

  • Disappointing

    by Glenda456 on 4/12/16Orpheum Theater - MinneapolisRating: 1 out of 5

My husband and I were so excited to get to see this. Wow, what a disappointment! Not at all impressed with the liberties they took in the story of Joseph, especially when they claimed that he slept with Potiphar's wife which is definitely NOT what the Bible says happened. Definitely NOT worth the money and wish we wouldn't have gone.

  • Excellent performance!

I took my mother to this show for her birthday and we both enjoyed it immensely! Very talented performers with a lot of humor added in. All in all a great show, would highly recommend it!!

  • JOSEPH!!! Highly recommended!

by Anonymous on 4/8/16Stephens Auditorium - AmesRating: 5 out of 5

This show was fantastic! My baby sister has always loved the Donny Osmond DVD version of the show. When I found out that the show was in Ames, I had to get tickets. My parents, my sister, and I loved the show. I saw children around five all the way past senior citizens in the audience. This is a very family-friendly show with spectacular LED and new technology, as well as vivid colors and exciting music. The music in the show is wonderful because every song seems to be from a different genre: country, rock, Elvis, French cafe, Jamaican, etc. Fantastic show! Highly recommended.

  • Good but ...

by Anonymous on 4/7/16Adler Theatre - DavenportRating: 4 out of 5

Very good performance, but sound was too loud and the bright lights flashing into the audience's eyes was definitely annoying and distracting.

I have always wanted to see this and had added it to my bucket list of things to do with my daughters. We were not disappointed! It was really good!!

We saw Donnie Osmond in Chicago in this play & we thought this was very close to being just as good.

  • Standing O!

by Sumac on 4/7/16Adler Theatre - DavenportRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent all the way around. Even though we saw it on a Monday night in a small venue, they performed like it was Saturday night on Broadway!

  • Not impressive

by RubyPat on 3/13/16Heymann Performing Arts Center - LafayetteRating: 2 out of 5

We brought friends to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Heymann Center on March 7. I have seen the musical before and loved it. I do not like this new "modernized" rendition. Besides that, the set was not impressive at all-cheap and distracting tricks were used to get certain points across i.e. bright blinding flashing lights and strange photography. The actor who portrayed Joseph was excellent-his voice was spot on, though his dancing ability was lacking. The narrator had a very high pitched voice with sharp and sometimes annoying tones. The "brothers" tried to save the show but it was not possible! All in all, we were sadly disappointed.

  • DISAPPOINTED

by Tlllll on 3/10/16Heymann Performing Arts Center - LafayetteRating: 1 out of 5

Disappointed, not what I expected. My family and I watched this musical in Paris, Texas a few years ago and we loved the show, it was very biblical. The show this week was very( how do I say it) up to date (twentieth century)with sarcastic tones, I would not recommend to anyone who wants to feel uplifted and inspired. My husband and I left at intermission.

  • Disappointed

by Geauxldendad on 3/10/16Heymann Performing Arts Center - LafayetteRating: 2 out of 5

The choreography was great but the voices were very hard to understand. Also the flashing bright lights were so intense that they hurt my eyes. My fiancé has a hearing problem and the headphones were not working in the auditorium. All in all,,, a very disappointing evening and not worth the ticket price.
