    SLAY, SLAY, SLAY, HeNNY

by SABYER on 10/12/23State Theatre - Portland

JVN is my favorite. OBSESSED, Henny! He did not disappoint. I loved, I laughed, I lived. The venue- The State Theater in Portland, Maine however did not open the doors an hour before the show as promised, There was a line around all around the theater (in the rain!) and it was not moving until about 20 minutes before the show. We missed the first few minutes and that was a BUMMER. I needed every second I could get with the queen. Anyway he slayed and I loved him even more.

    JVN was EVERYTHING

by Carly B. on 10/12/23Warner Theatre - Washington

I loved everything about seeing JVN. The tickets I bought, I felt were affordable despite how amazing they were (Row E). I was immediately starstruck because we were so close up. JVN was unabashedly themselves and it was AMAZING to see! They were hilarious, honest, out of left field and ALL the things a comedy show should be WITH an amazing dress and heels on!? Please! 10/10 would recommend.

    10/10

by MM on 10/11/23State Theatre - Portland

This show was worth every penny. Been a big fan of his for awhile now. He was absolutely fantastic in person. HYSTERICAL. Definitely an 18+ show and don’t go with family if it’s awkward to talk about sex with them cuz you’ll definitely be squirming. I’ve been busting up all week thinking about stories he told. I’d go again if I could!!

    The Best

by Lisa on 10/11/23State Theatre - Portland

I purchased a meet and greet ticket for Jonathan van Ness. This was money well spent. I loved Jonathan! I would see him every time I have the chance. The staff was so nice as they structured the meet and greet. I have seen Gary Clark Jr., Fortune Feimster, and now Jonathan at the State Theater. It has been great every time.

    Best. Show. EVER!

by JS on 10/10/23State Theatre - Portland

I bought meet-and-greet tickets and brought my friend, and we both had a blast! We laughed so hard, and I was curled up wheezing most of the show! Would definitely see this show again—so grateful to have been able to go!

    Wonderful Staff, Disappointed in Show

by TLynne on 10/10/23State Theatre - Portland

Was so excited to attend this show. We spent quite a bit of money and resources to travel 6 hours from our small little town in Canada to attend. The staff were amazing and accommodating to my friend that has a chronic illness and we felt extremely safe and supported throughout. We had purchased VIP tickets so we spent most of our time waiting to to the meet and greet and then after waiting for the show to begin. Despite the difficulty this presented for my friend who was in a lot of pain, we were still so excited to meet the talent and see the show. Meeting them was alright, but the show was not what I had expected. I can handle some innuendos and slapstick comedy, but I found that it often went too far. Perhaps I am more sensitive and old fashioned, but I found lot of unnecessary topics and descriptions coming in. I was expecting for some inspiration with a certain level of inappropriate comedy sprinkled throughout but this was on a different level. I was disappointed that the talent used their platform to highlight certain things rather than empower and encourage people to make the changes they were advocating for. I suppose my expectations were much higher than they should have been, but unfortunately, I left feeling really sad and disappointed. Hoping others enjoyed the show, it wasn't for me and I wouldn't attend another one even if someone offered me free tickets including another meet and greet :(

    Slutty

by Buddy G on 10/10/23State Theatre - Portland

Your ticketing process is heinous. On my way into the show The app said I needed to create a new password. Walking into the show. The show was amazing. Jonathan was on fire. I would go see them again.

    Charming & rambling

by Cy on 9/26/23Chevalier Theatre - Medford

JVN is undeniably charming, and this was an entertaining experience for sure, but was not as tight / practiced as most one-person shows are (& ought) to be. For example, there were several sections with audience participation, which my friends & I could not hear - neither was a microphone brought to the speakers nor did JVN repeat what they said. There were also tangents inside stories, which weren't bad, but more polish could've eliminated or improved them. There was also "karaoke"section which had no music, just a bit of singing (that shouldn't be too hard to create/find the karaoke backing to).

    I got chills

by Jenn P on 9/26/23Chevalier Theatre - Medford

From the moment they sashayed onstage to their final goodbye I thought this was one of the best comedy shows I’ve seen. The blend of stories and improv flowed seamlessly! My stomach hurt at the end of the show from laughing so much. Seeing JVN is a must do in my book! Can’t wait for their next tour!!!

    Almost perfect

by Domino on 12/14/22The Castro Theatre - San Francisco

Loved, loved, loved JVN’s show. It was such a treat to see him unfiltered and to see his gymnastics live. Too bad his entre acte during the costume change was not funny, and right out the gate offended all the straight people in the audience. Seems to me that members of a maligned community should be very happy to have allies among the dominant group and should try not to offend them when they are paying audience members.

    Expectations Exceeded

by KCGlover69 on 12/12/22San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego

I can't say enough about JVN! They are SO talented, funny, authentic, and kind. We did the meet & greet beforehand and were the last in line so they had been doing it for over an hour by the time they met us. I guarantee they brought the same energy to every person. They took the time with us and it was genuine. I'm not easily starstruck but was with JVN. We saw Chelsea Handler the next night and JVN blew her away. LOVE!!
