My wife and I just saw Chris Katan, Tim Meadows and Jon Lovitz at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA. What a major disappointment! I thought they would do some sketch comedy or something interesting together but no go. It's just three sets of mediocre stand up comedy - that's it. Katan started it and stayed up about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, this was 10 minutes too long. He's not a stand up comedian and kept asking the audience if his jokes were OK. Really? You're asking us if they're OK? They're not but it's your job to entertain us so please try. No comic timing. Maybe 3 to 4 chuckles total from audience. Tim Meadows came on next and told us how hard it was because he just got divorced. Unfortunately he was divorced in 2005 and I heard this same routine in 2006. George Bush thought it was a blast mid-way through his second term, Tim! His routine was OK. A lot of white audience against black comedian stuff. I laughed once and there were a few funny points. Nothing special. Lovitz was on next and was not too funny. A lot of racial jokes (jews, n-word jokes, offensive Jesus jokes) and a lot of sexual stuff and swearing. Really just OK. Very few laughs from audience. I just saw Michael Regan last month and he does not swear. He was 100 times funnier than all three of these guys and the crowd was roaring. I would save my money on this Katan, Meadows, Lovitz show and buy the 1988 season of SNL on DVD. Many more laughs!
