Very little original material for the cost.

by Djs047 on 10/31/15DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

This was a great event for ardent Monty Python fans and they thoroughly enjoyed it. But if you were looking for more than rehashed old material including numerous film clips you would be disappointed. We were hoping for more original material. But if that happened after intermission then it was our loss because we already left.

    STUPENDOUSLY OK!!

by RabbitofCaerbannog on 10/29/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

I'm not saying I would leave the cave to see the show again, but it was not completely boring to view the once. It was basically a trip back through the history of Python with an obvious focus on Mr Cleese and Mr Idle. It was funny and enlightening, and a very casual evening overall. I wish there had been more discussion of the Holy Grail movie. I still consider that some of my best work and would have liked to be included more. Next time perhaps.

ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE!!

by rockosmom on 10/27/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

If you're nostalgic, old or need a good laugh, this is the show for you. John Cleese is a little hard to hear at times, and I was sitting in the fifth row, but some of it could be due to that great British accent. Eric Idle is absolutely out of this world when it came to his musical numbers. They offer lots of audience participation throughout the show which actually brought me to tears at the end. Video clips from the past shown in conjunction with their sketches were hilarious. It really brought back many great memories of Monty Python, etc. I was anticipating a good show but this really exceeded my expectations. Well worth the price of admission. It's a shame that this tour is so short and not nearly enough people will get the benefit of seeing these two together again. At any rate, ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE and if you ever get a chance to see this show, don't miss the opportunity. I'm glad I didn't!!

    Absolutely hilarious!

by BunnyGirl on 10/27/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

John Cleese and Eric Idle are as funny today as they were 40+ years ago. We laughed so hard tears were rolling down our cheeks. Truly $$ well spent.

    A true dynamic duo

by AnthonyCombs on 10/26/15Ovens Auditorium - Charlotte

For these two extremely talented and entertaining individuals, the format was outstanding. It was like getting a mini-Python film, biography, interview, and variety show all rolled together with beautiful bursts of sarcasm and dry wit. Definitely a treasured bucket list item.

    Once in a lifetime chance

by ArghelianBruce on 10/26/15Ovens Auditorium - Charlotte

I could not recommend this event more. John and Eric were amazing as usual for the first time. If you have ever watched them on film and liked it you owe it to yourself to catch them if you can. At their age, this could be your last chance! There just a few personalities that can hold the attention of an auditorium literally by being themsekves... Patrick Stewart for example. Here you get two! 'Nuff said.

    Great Humor is Timeless

by charlied7401 on 10/26/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

Had some concern that these two would be too old and rickety to deliver. Boy Was I wrong ! Just a fabulous evening a high brow humor with just the right about of self deprecation and bawdy bits !!

These two were hilarious! I can only imagine what their last "reunion" concert was like.

These guys were awesome! John Cleese and Eric Idle brought the expected Monty Python humor to this show. My only complaint is that it didn't last hours and hours longer!

Great to see the guys enjoying each other after so many years. Show had a great combo of old tales, old sketches and new material, as well as a dip into some of the classic Python. Great fun.

Worst venue for an amazing show

by JBDYCE on 10/26/15Ovens Auditorium - Charlotte

DISCLAIMER: My 5-star rating applies only to the show, not the venue. Venue gets zero stars. The John Cleese and Eric Idle show was more than worth the money. To see these two comedy legends in person was a treat and an honor I never dreamed I'd experience. There is no fault whatsoever with their performance or the content of their show. The problem with this event was the venue. Were I John or Eric, I'd be FURIOUS for having been booked at Ovens Auditorium. For such high-profile and respected artists, this was the crappiest venue their agents could have chosen. Ovens is old, has terrible acoustics, and is a general eyesore. Why men of this talent and recognition were performing in a broom closet, I will never understand. The sound was awful; there are plenty of odd corners in this auditorium, which means sound bounces all over the place and tends to dip at times. We were seated beneath speakers in the orchestra section and still had a very hard time hearing both of them. This event didn't belong at Ovens, and honestly, NO EVENT BELONGS AT OVENS. We have a new, pointless stadium in TWC Arena, and these men could have filled that easily.

John Cleese and Eric idle show was 'must see'

by Chastain123 on 10/26/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

Especially for people like my husband and our age group that appreciated and followed much of Monty Python and other British comedy – this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Seeing the guys, hearing the stories, and watching them in their older age be just as sharp and funny as when they were younger was inspirational. They are amazing and makes you really appreciate how valuable it is for people like them to exist to take us all away from the worlds problems and laugh at things once in a while. It was a great show and would see it again

    One of life's highlights!

by Moosebyer on 10/26/15Ovens Auditorium - Charlotte

I've watched them for years, but to see them in person was a special privilege that I'll never forget. It was so interesting just listening to their stories. Of course, they haven't missed a beat on their comedic attributes . My party of four laughed for 2 1/2 hours ! They were met with a standing ovation and were saluted in the end with another one! It was a special, unforgettable evening!

    Brilliant!

by Sheepdip on 10/26/15Ovens Auditorium - Charlotte

A great evening's entertainment. But be wary if you're bringing younger children (as there were in front of us) - it's quite blue in places!

    Good nostalgic time

by EricLarch on 10/26/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

Ok this was mainly an exercise in nostalgia rather than being a really incredible comedic performance. Most of the "newer" material they did was very pedestrian and unremarkable, but was just nice seeing some of the old clips and you could tell most everyone in the audience were big Monty Python fans and really loved these two guys for what they gave us years ago. So a lot of the laughs and applause were just being polite and sort of like listening to your grandparents' old stories. I mean that in the best possible way and was definitely worth it to come out and see these two Legends of Comedy and I went home with a very good feeling from the show.
