DISCLAIMER: My 5-star rating applies only to the show, not the venue. Venue gets zero stars.
The John Cleese and Eric Idle show was more than worth the money. To see these two comedy legends in person was a treat and an honor I never dreamed I'd experience. There is no fault whatsoever with their performance or the content of their show.
The problem with this event was the venue. Were I John or Eric, I'd be FURIOUS for having been booked at Ovens Auditorium. For such high-profile and respected artists, this was the crappiest venue their agents could have chosen. Ovens is old, has terrible acoustics, and is a general eyesore. Why men of this talent and recognition were performing in a broom closet, I will never understand. The sound was awful; there are plenty of odd corners in this auditorium, which means sound bounces all over the place and tends to dip at times. We were seated beneath speakers in the orchestra section and still had a very hard time hearing both of them.
This event didn't belong at Ovens, and honestly, NO EVENT BELONGS AT OVENS. We have a new, pointless stadium in TWC Arena, and these men could have filled that easily.
