About Jody Watley in Concert
Jody Watley, singer/songwriter/producer/businesswoman, is one of the architects of 21st-century pop. From her groundbreaking marriage of rap & R&B (1987’s “Friends,” a collaboration with hip-hop legends Eric B. & Rakim) to her vision-forward marriage of high fashion, street fashion, and music in the ‘80s (long before it became the norm), to her fusion of jazz and underground club culture with keen pop instincts, and the ease with which she crossed and still crosses genre, Jody Watley forged the template that is now everybody’s playbook.
Winner of the Best New Artist Grammy in 1987, Watley’s entire career has been about looking forward, drawing inspiration from personal heroes and iconoclasts who were and are always ten steps ahead of the pack. The Chicago native’s eclectic repertoire - R&B, hip-hop, House, jazz, pop, drum & bass, ambient, spoken word - is built on a positive vision and a strong taste for artistic and aesthetic risk.
She was amazing, she was fun and her voice hasn’t changed one bit!
Jody deserves far more attention than she gets. She gives you so much in her shows. The songs, the dancing, the fashion, the style, and attitude. Wow! Madonna stole from the right one!
Jody came out firing out the gate and on all cylinders. She and band were outstanding! The vibe from the audience and the music was fantastic! She put on a great show!
Good show. Enjoyed the Jazz artist performing before Jody Whatley too. Arrived late did not know the Jazz group but J Whatley was good too.
The show was excellent. Don’t sleep on Jody’s!!! Excellent showmanship and tons of hits.
My girl still got it. She performed her own hits as well as the old Shalamar hits. I had so much fun. Thank you Jody!
Ms. Watley gave a remarkable show at the Bears Den in Niagara Falls venue on 26 May 2017. I enjoyed every moment! I was sitting directly up front.
GREAT SHOW , POSITIVE VIBES AND A DIVA THAT OUT DID HERSELF IN A HUMBLE WAY . THE GUYS SANG AND DANCE TO PERFECTION AND MOST OF ALL I GOT ON STAGE TO DANCE WITH MY DIVA JODY WATLEY. THIS IS TO DATE THE BEST SHOW IVE SEEN IN A LONG TIME..... AWESOME JOB....
Show was great! SO MUCH ENERGY!! And great messaging. Definite MUST see!!
I have been to BB Kings several times.I know that depending the artist the seating changes. But the show was AMAZING!!! I wish there was room to dance like when i saw Keith Sweat. Jody was engaging, fun, positive. The energy and vibe was intimate yet mature. I had a BLAST and my sister did too. She had never been and was a bit reluctant but she stated she would defintely do it again. Its a down to earth place but with such a diverse mellow crowd. Again awesome.
What a great set full of energy and love. Jody is a true artist which is becoming a lost venue as money tries to eclipse the art. Great show.
Very disappointed... only 1 Shalamar song !!! That's what I came for
I was prepared to see a Jody Watley show and not a Shalamar Reloaded show. Jody only sung a few of her hits but she is still worth seeing. Good Luck to her new group, Shalamar Reloaded.
From beginning to end the show was amazing. Jody sounds fantastic as always and the guys from Shalamar were on point! She was really sincere in engaging the audience and like my fiancé agreed Jody seemed to be having a good time up there. Great time and great energy all around. We'd see them again in a heart beat.
Jody Watley has always been a terrific live act and is now even better with Shalamar Reloaded. The first half of the show is a great update to Shalamar hits and a few new songs. Then the second half is pure fire focusing on Jody's solo career. i have been a fan for decades and this was the best show to date!
The show was one of the best I've seen. It was performed on the night of Diana Ross's birthday in which she exulted as the best of all time. The dancers and dancing was hypnotic. JW can still dance like it was the '80's! She is very down to earth, personable and knows how to get the crowd going with her eloquent words about life and her sensual exotic side :) The show was fast paced, very enjoyable with many experienced dancers were brought onto the stage. Stay Larger Than Life Miss Jody Watley!
Jody sounded great but I wanted to hear more shalamar songs, I wasn't crazy about the vocals of the male lead singer.
Jody and Shakamar Reloaded were hot! I am glad she is back and show these young artists that she started a lot of the things they do today!
Jody Watley's shows have always been fantastic. They are even better now that she has put together Shalamar Reloaded. The hits are updated but with a familiar vibe and new energy. Nate and Rosero perfectly round out the trio with Jody. The second half of the show is all Miss Watley and fun goes to another level. She asked for requests and never missed a beat. One of my favorite LIVE performers.
Since becoming a Jody fan in 2003 with the purchase of her album "Midnight Lounge", I jumped at the opportunity to finally see Jody Watley live in concert. I arrived very early to secure a seat close to the stage. When Jody took the stage, she opened the concert with her newly formed Shalamar reloaded. She sang the biggest Shalamar hits, before performing songs from her music EP "Paradise". After a brief moment to change outfits, Jody performed most of her solo hits including "Real Love", "Still A Thrill", "Don't You Want Me", "Friends", "I'm Looking For A New Love", "I Want You", "Your Love Keep Working On Me". She sang and danced fabulously as did her co-singers/dancers and members of Shalamar reloaded. My friends and I enjoyed the concert very much! I would absolutely without a doubt go to see Jody Watley live in concert again!
