Where does an English girl learn to play the blues with so much soul, emotion and amazing talent. Ask Joanne Shaw Taylor, because she brought it this evening with all the power and grace that I’ve ever seen a girl play lead guitar! November 05, 2022, The Maryland Theater in Hagerstown, Maryland.
I first saw Joanne Shaw Taylor at the Western Maryland Blues Fest several years ago, and I was impressed enough to follow her through the years. This year, the show was amazing! Her playing has taken off!
Joanne Shaw Taylor started off the show with a barn-burner and it just continued on from there. This was blues/rock at its best. Our seats were in the back of the orchestra section on the left aisle. The view of the stage was perfect. Joanne interacted with the audience well and gave lots of opportunities for her rhythm guitarist and keyboardist show their talents too. This was my first time in the Maryland Theater and our first time seeing Joann. We will do both again for sure. In the encore Joanne did an acoustic song dedicated to her mother who died in 2013. The song was beautiful and left a great message. My wife cried during the song. I've never seen her do that before. It was a great song. Over all I'd give the show a 9.5 out of 10. The mix wasn't quite right on her mic. She sounded slightly fuzzy (At least in the back of the Orchestra section).
Enjoyed the show. Joanne is a tremendous guitarist. Couple of thoughts on improving the experience: - Would prefer is little more diversity in the songs. Many of them appeared to have similar licks - Sounded more like a rock and roll show instead of blues - Joanne was very animated...the other musicians were very wooden - it seemed they were there just to do their job. Even when Joanne approached them during the songs, they did not seem to respond to her intensity. Just my two cents. I did like the show very much.

Joanne and the band were playing masterfully. The sound team was not producing a masterful sound product. All we could hear were the drums the bass and a bad sound from the keyboard. It wasn’t until the audience voiced disapproval that anyone looked into the issue. I would definitely see the band again, but hopefully with a different sound team.
Our first time seeing Joanne Shaw Taylor. She did not disappoint! She is an amazing performer and we really enjoyed her concert. Can’t wait to see her again!

Love Joanne’s blues music! She is a very talented singer songwriter! Her guitar playing is amazing! I would attend her concert again anytime! Seeing and meeting Joanne in concert was the highlight of my year! We listen to her music every day!
I bought these tickets because of an email. I did think she was going to be more bluesy/jazzy but wow! She was amazing- so talented. And she can rock that guitar!
Hard for new people trying to get bigger audiences. The State is a good size and I thought it was 65 - 60 percent filled. She is very talented but it’s hard for people to get into someone they have not heard but I enjoyed it tremendously
the sound mixing was a off, especially at first. Ms Shaw's guitar volume was barely audible over the bass, which made her solo's difficult to hear. However, it did improve as the show went on. Overall, the ambiance was good, the crown was into it and Ms Shaw and her band put on a great show. The perfect venue for what I considered an intimate experience.
The Joanne Shaw Taylor concert at the Pantages Theater in Minneapolis was absolutely fantastic! The acoustics of the theater and the person running the mixing board made the 90+ minute show sound awesome! Joanne was high-energy and personalized the show with a little commentary mixed in. The theater is historic. A nice and intimate venue for a show like Joanne Shaw Taylor! Overall, the experience was awesome and the Joanne Shaw Taylor concert was a real treat!
Your venue is wonderful. All your staff and Merchandise lady were very friendly. Excellent Customer Service. I worked at Star Plaza Theatre in Merriville,IN. They closed 2017. I will definitely be returning to your theatre again.
Our seats at the pantages were in the middle toward the back. Sound was overwhelmingly loud and distorted on the sides.
We went to the concert yesterday at North Shore Center and this was my 1st time at JOANNE SHAW TAYLOR show. Simply AMAZING! She is a dynamite. Incredible talent and great performance!. Found her by following my favorite artist - Joe Bonamassa and I was not disappointed. Thank you Joe again for finding and promoting so many talented artists. Thank you JOANNE. I will come to your next concert when you back in Chicago area for sure!

Solid blues performer. Great band to back her up. I would pay to see her again. Much better show than expected.
What an incredible first concert for her after the COVID plague. Joanne was beaming with happiness at being back on stage. And she brought a great group of musicians to present a very rich sound. One of the best concerts for me in some time. In spite of a light audience due to the plague and a winter storm, she played like it was a sold out house. Her love of playing was apparent through the whole show. I wish her the best for a successful tour.
Joanne Shaw Taylor is a "Must See". She has it all. She owned the stage with her presence. Out of this world voice, matched only by her smile. Such a joy to watch. Guitar licks that penetrate to the heart and soul. She grabs your attention from the first note and never lets go. Her band was in the same wonderful groove. The back up singers raised the temperature on every song. I can't wait for the opportunity, to see her again !!!
