    Wonderful Show!

by Mommysalami on 4/18/17Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

Jesus Christ Superstar was WONDERFUL! I had seen it on Broadway in NYC back in the '70's. This performance was just as good, if not better! So glad to be able to see this show - especially on Good Friday!

Superstar.... Lived up to it's name

by TriciaLyn on 4/18/17Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

Simplistic Set~ Fantastic, flamboyant cast! I grew up with the album~ my parents saw the original! I wore out the vinyl~ and still Do! This production did it fantastic justice. Introduced the show to my husband for his birthday~ his parents had seen the original as well. He was also dancing in his seat ( very rare for the straight~laced introvert!). The cast truly captured the story with tonal attitude in delivery and enormous powerhouse vocals! I have to mention the one tiny dancer who stole every scene she was in! ( look for her, then again your eyes will migrate to her.) If I had one critique~ The orchestra missed the one moment that usually brings my goosebumps to life. When the iconic notes are hit the first time ~ the slowing for dramatic effect and amazing FORTE was lacking. That moment is the moment that pushes all of your senses over to the depth of the event and who HE really was, what he DID FOR US. Hit it hard, loud and long with a hard kettle drum between!

    Amazing JC Superstar

by JCfan1 on 4/17/17Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

The acting and singing of the key characters was outstanding. Familiar story, but still contained high drama. Terrific set that functioned well. The sound was very good and the cast was simply superb - especially the actors who played Jesus Christ and Judas.

    Jesus Christ Superstar Outstanding

by Doc32 on 4/16/17Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

A very talented group of performers did justice to the genius of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. I seen this in the early 70's in Maryland and this production was even better. Start to finish never a disappointing moment.

    So glad I went!

by Coni22 on 4/15/17Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

Overall it was a wonderful production! I thought the pit band was a bit " off" with timing and tuning (Wed. Night) and the actor who played Caiaphas was often difficult to hear/understand.

by Captive1 on 4/15/17Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

I saw this live when I was a teen. 40 years later I loved it even more. The original sound track did not include the song "Could We Start Again, Please." The movie did though and I loved it! This performance did the song. The scenes were well done and the performers were wonderful!

This is one of the best musicals I have ever seen in my life. There is so much passion and energy in these talented folks. The musical score is fantastic and the dancers and actors give 110%. Go see before it's gone!

Jesus Christ Superstar -the timeless story

by ChucksWife on 4/15/17Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

I have loved this show since it was new. I've seen it onstage, at the movies, and in television productions over the past 40(ish) years. The music alone is enough reason to go, but the talent in this show was through the roof! Jesus, Judah's, Mary, and Peter were especially phenomenal, but the entire cast was fabulous. And hats off to the director for the best and most imaginative staging I have seen...ever!!

    JC Superstar

by Moraine on 4/15/17Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

I ended up not going due to illness. However, I gave my tickets to a friend of mine and she asked another friend to go. To her surprise she enjoyed it so much and the friend she had taken has the album from the early 70's. My friend is hooked, she now wants to see other plays and/or musicals. I have a friend name Jesus and he is my Lord and Savior, Amen Thank you for bringing the show to Raleigh NC
