The atmosphere was cool. Shows were cool. I just needed a beer :( ....
The artists that performed played very mellow and almost made me fall asleep. It was hard to dance to. There should be a variety in the styles next time because all of them had the same style. It just made it boring. It was definitely NOT worth the price.
Snoop never fails to entertain. He is one of the best performers I have seen!
I like the line up of the reggae day on 5-26-14 but didn't like that they won't let you bring umbrellas this is an open space field not 1 tree to shade u and you can't enjoy the event when your body is burnt from the sun. No matter how much sun block you use it is still very hot. They should come up with a solution for this instead of selling over priced tickets for the DELUXE SECTION. It use to be a very funfilled day I have been going to this event for at over 10 years and this was the better one for me.
The Reggae Fest was fun because I went with fun people. However the line up of performers could have been more exciting. I would have liked to see more dancehall mainstream performers such as Sean Paul or Beenie Man. I also felt if there were more cheaper priced Pre-sale tickets (i.e. $25), the event would have had a larger audience turnout. There's always next year!
~I love the Jazz Reggae fest! My boyfriend and I went for our 2nd time together and I must say that we have the best of times. The people around are always so friendly and fun. We will continue our tradition and go for years to come!!!
I go to UCLA's Reggae Fest every year and I absolutely love it! As always the food was amazing this year but I was disappointed by the low energy of the performances. The performers were all wonderful artists but they lacked the spark and excitement that is usually experienced at this festival! Not sure it was worth the visit this year! Let's see what they have in store for next year! Previous years were amazing! This year was not hype!
I love reggae so much, but i was so much disappointed with the artist we had this year. Sister Carol was the one which at least tried. Instead of G. Heritage, Morgan Heritage would have been a better on. My friend who introduced me to this festival 4 years ago did not buy a ticket this year because he claimed there was no reggae artist to go listen to. Snoop was the greatest this weekend. I hope you guys will get some good artist on the 29th. I look forward to be there again.
I had an amazing 2 days. Snoop Dog closed the show the 1st day, and it was so thrilling to see and hear one of my all time favorite real-deal hip hop rap artist. Best! The 2nd day was all reggae and Sister Carol, Gramps Morgan and Black Uhuru mash it up!! See you next year
Had a fabulous time Weather, Vendors Atmosphere was great. Line-Up could be a lil better. Be back next year. Josie & Keanna...Ive been attending since it was a free concert.
All of the acts were great. I recommend to get the reserved seating. Don't rely upon the welcome desk. Ladies were too busy on their personal phones to be of any help. They were VERY frustrating.
It was ok. Just ok. Wasn't fun much. Kids smokes cheap weed make me sick
This event should probably return it's focus to students who are used to being aggressively monitored for laying a blanket on the grass/dirt and bringing fruit to munch on. For those of us who remember this event as a Jazz & Reggae festival, the quality of entertainment was poor with the exception of 3 Aloe Blacc songs and Snoop Dogg. Music aside, there were 100 security guards randomly enforcing a minimum distance of 18 inches, 2 feet or 3 feet from a spray painted walkway line. Why not just paint the line 18 inches, 2 or 3 feet wider as opposed to standing in the middle of the walkway and constantly yelling at people to move 6 more inches??? The soundstage was 40 feet from the actual stage which blocked the stage view for 2/3 of the audience. That was brilliant. Unless they have an awesome lineup, I'm not wasting my time nor money @UCLA JAM DAY again.
I drove up from the Bay Area for the Jam Day at the UCLA JazzReggae Festival and it was worth the drive! Although I got there in time to see the last 2 acts(Aloe Blacc and Snoop Dogg) I had a great time, and both artists were worth every penny of the festival. There was a nice variety of food and clothing vendors. The best part was the diverse, chill crowd. There were A LOT of people in attendance, but plenty of room to spread out a blanket and just chill. As a festival aficionado, this event gave me everything that I needed! Whether you are into great music, good Jamaican food or just a laid back event to chill and hang out with friends, the UCLA Jazz Festival is a great way to kick off summer!
Beer sale would have nice, otherwise good time. Liked the security guards everywhere!
it was good to be in UCLA campus had fun didn't have my weed to go along with snoop!!!!lol..
I had the best time of my life. It was my first time. I will be back thanks ucla.
This was an amazingly fun event. It was a perfect day for an outdoor concert, sunshine and a nice breeze. The line-up on Saturday was incredible! Aloe Blacc was so much fun. He turned up and out! And what can be said about Snopp Dogg....Overall, this was the best concert ever. As for the vendors and food service...I would rate that around a B- I would like to see more vendors and more variety of foods. But, it wasn't bad. The idea of having a FREE water service was wonderful. It was a hot day and keeping hydrated was important. That was gracious and very smart of the organizers. On the negative was the LONG @ss walk around the building to enter the event sight. What's up with that??? I understand "crowd control". But that was a bit ridiculous. Access to parking was OK. Overall, I would recommend attending this event next year. You will not be disappointed.
Cool event everything was fun cool vibe only complaint is the 93.x radio station tent kept playing music even when a live band was on, as if they were a jealous ex gf who wouldn't stop screaming through your window when u had another girl in your house. Awkward.
Get energetic mcs and have the Dj music louder in between acts. Get some more activity stations.
