Being located near the Hukelau has allowed me to see many comedy acts including Tracy Morgan, George Lopez, and even a few cast members of Girl Code. When I saw Jay Pharoah was coming to our little Western Mass stage I couldn't contain myself! Jay Pharoah exceeded every expectation. His jokes were on point and had me almost in tears. His impressions were impeccable and his energy was explosive. I especially enjoyed his references to skits on SNL like his Shaq impression on weekend update or "What Does My Girl Say". What I found to be unique about his act is occasionally after a joke he would make a heart-warming and inspiring statement. It was nice to see him fire off a joke but then acknowledge the more serious side of it in a humbling manner. He also was not obnoxious or overly explitive. Sometimes when telling a joke he would kind of go off on a small tangent before returning to it, but even as the people next to me stated, it was really an example of great improv ability and not the least bit distracting. I would highly recommend Jay Pharoah for a fun night out!

    Enjoyable in various ways

by Britt1984 on 4/29/14Hu Ke Lau - Chicopee

All I knew of Jay was the limited screen time he has on SNL. I have never seen any of his stand-up before, but I do think he is one of the better SNL members. He also had some decent reviews on here so I thought I should check him out. It was definitely an enjoyable evening and worth the money. He had a lot of energy on stage and truly seemed happy to be doing what he was doing even in a crappy town (mind you I saw Dave Chapelle previously who was so pissy to have to be in Hartford that night). He has great impressions and he only had a few things I didn't laugh at. It was mostly because I just didn't know enough about what he was talking about--some rap songs and stuff. He also was respectful of the audience (wasn't an asshole to anyone when making fun of things) and seemed down to earth with a good outlook on life.

Jay Pharoah is incredibly talented, full of energy and the show was a blast! We took our 18 year old son who watches SNL every week and has been inspired by watching Jay and his comedic talent! Jay's impressions are spot on and now our son is doing these amazing impressions as well and has a dream to work behind the scenes of SNL! Jay is fantastic!

I am an SNL addict, and love Jay Pharoah as a cast member on SNL. His impressions are outstanding and so hilariously accurate! I could NOT resist seeing his stand up. He was perfect. Every line was relatable and the show as overall fantastic. He had a great crowd and was even so gracious as to allow photos taken with him!! I would see him again and only makes me love his talents even more!

Jay Pharoh was more than expected!

by Dajodam on 4/28/14Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I came into the show, ready to laugh. I have seen Jay on SNL and youtube and felt like the whole show was going to be impersonations. There were definitely impersonations that were great, but Jay was much more than that. After the show he took pictures with the fans. That was really nice. He seems like a humble, down to earth guy and I hope he comes back soon!

    Outstanding

by RBarnes on 4/28/14Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I won't pretend to have followed him since the beginning, but I've loved Jay on SNL. Was willing to take the plunge on his act despite never seeing his standup. All six of us were delighted - he has a well-refined set, worked the crowd brilliantly and was a riot from beginning to end.
