Jay Pharoah returned to Studio 8H for his second season on Saturday Night Live. Pharoah is most known for his wide array of uncanny celebrity impressions including Will Smith, Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington and Kanye West. Pharoah developed his comedy skills at a young age in local comedy clubs. He went on to tour in the UK, the US, and Montreal, and participated in the sketch comedy series, "Charlie Murphy's Crash Comedy." Pharoah previously performed stand-up on BET's "One Mic Stand" and was the star of the 2010 BET Awards short, "The Package." He can soon be seen alongside Greta Gerwig, Bill Pullman, and Debra Winger in Fox Searchlight's upcoming feature "Lola Versus."
Originally from Virginia, Pharoah currently resides in New York City.
Excellent show with a talented and unaffected by his popularity
Great show. On time. Great seats. Drinks were way overpriced though.
Jay Pharoah performed a hilarious set chock full of his spectacular impressions. He is very personable & shared some nice insight into his background & character. Funny guy, great performer, must see!
This guy is about more than just his celebrity impersonations you see on SNL. His jokes are freakin' hilarious and he kept the audience captivated for the entire show. Yes he did throw some impressions in there (jay z, katt williams, denzel), and to hear them live was insane! But as I said, this dude is funny without all that. And he showed his appreciation for the audience by filming a video for instagram at the end of the night! Loved every minute!!
Wow! This show was AMAZING!!! Anyone who is thinking about going to see Jay Pharoah, should definitely go! It will be something you'll never forget!!! He's also very humble which makes you love him even more!
This guys is definitely underrated. I was glad to see him this early in his career, I think his future is bright! He did a great job of mixing comedy bits with his trademark impressions. I can recall him doing: Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Eddie Murphy, Will Smith, Steven A Smith, Shaq, 2 Chains, Lil Wayne, Drake, Denzel Washington, and some more that I've forgotten. I would definitely recommend this guy!
Hilariously hilarious! Filled up the entire venue.
Jay Pharaoh was great!!! Jokes, impersonations, creativity. It's all there. Me and my wife had a great time. Jay is going to be big!!! I would definitely recommend that you go see him. Even the opening acts were hilarious.
Jay Pharoah was great at his stand up show that I saw in Sacramento, Ca! He was hilarious and really nice! Such an fun evening! I would definitely see him again and again.
As expected, he doesn't just do voices as he's been pigeonholed on SNL. He is multifaceted multitalented and terrific. don't miss the opportunity to see this very funny guy.
Jay's impersonations were on point. The Dipset songs were awesome! hahaha
Jay Pharoah does impressions so perfectly and he's also hilarious!
Unbelievable ability to impersonate many different people and incorporate it into a stand up act. He kept it entertaining throughout and had our entire table rolling. I'd highly recommend seeing this guy and seeing how talented his impression skills are.
Having enjoyed his limited work on SNL, I wanted to see what Jay Pharoah's stand up was like, and it turned out to be quite funny. While there were a plethora of impressions (his Denzel Washington is fantastic), he also did bits about his life as well, which was very entertaining.
Jay Pharoah was so funny in person! While integrating many of the impressions he has done on Saturday Night Live into his set, his non-impression material was even better. He did a great job of mixing impressions, including a few great musical blurbs and pieces, and typical stand-up jokes with setups throughout the show. Additionally, he interacted with the audience, without being mean or discouraging, a rarity for most comedians. He stayed after the show shaking hands and taking pictures with anyone who waited, and showed gratitude to all in attendances with a genuine feeling of sincerity. I have been to over 10 stand up shows in the past year, and Jay's is one of 2 that I can absolutely say, "I would love to see that comedian again, in the near future."
