WHAT A SHOW, can't wait for Jane to come back 2 NY

by TheaterGeekNYC on 4/29/16Joe's Pub - New York City

Living in NYC with unlimited access to Broadway & theater, I have to say-- this was my favorite show of 2015. Jane Lynch, Kate Flannery, and Tim Davis gave a HILARIOUS performance, full of underrated show tunes and laughs, my friends and I still talk about it at our monthly dinners.

we walked out, it was literally a MUSICAL

by cmscrissy on 6/23/15Star Plaza Theatre - Merrillville

We walked out when she said she was going to sing the entire show. Not me my mom and sister's cup of tea. Boring, not funny and the personnel working the doors were rude because apparently they haven't mastered the paperless ticket scan on the phone so she made me get back in line to talk to the person in customer service. This is what happened at the John Mulaney show as well...ticket scanning was faulty on phone annoying especially after paying this much for tickets. Never again. I wish I could get a refund but I guess it was a donation...so whatever.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY, NOT FUNNY, NOT ENTERTAININ

by bo44444 on 6/23/15Star Plaza Theatre - Merrillville

NOT FUNNY.. NOT ENTERTAINING... I THOUGHT JANE HAD A GOOD VOICE.. BUT THE SONGS SHE SANG SHE EITHER MADE THEM UP OR THEY WERE STUPID OLD SONGS.. ONE WAS MERSEY DOTES AND LITTLE LAMBS OF IVY.. THE WHOLE NITE WAS JUST SO STUPID AND SO NOT ENTERTAINING... WE WERE SO DISAPPOINTED.. I DON'T EVEN HAVE THE WORDS TO DESCRIBE THIS, SO I WILL JUST SAY, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME TO SEE THIS..

    Wicked pissa

by Eulaeula on 6/5/15Wilbur Theatre - Boston

In Boston, this is high praise and Jane Lynch deserves. Will be glad to see her again next chance I get.

    Jane Lynch in concert

by wilberfan on 4/27/15Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Unexpected performance. Thought it would stand up comedy.Instead it was a comedy cabaret. Once I accepted that it was not stand up I was able to let go and enjoy the musical arrangements.

    Felt misled!!

by Anonymous on 4/27/15Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Expected stand up and got cabaret. Description of show did not indicate cabaret style show.

    Not impressed

by Irishsiouxie on 4/27/15Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I had high hopes for this show given Jane Lynch is usually hilarious however was sorely disappointed. Jane Was on stage for about an hour. I expected stand up but I got an hour of singing songs with non-sensical words. Jane has a great voice as did the people on stage with her but over all the show was a bit ridiculous and not very funny. Disappointed overall. Can't believe I was charged money for it.

    Disappointing

by miltaur on 4/27/15Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Theater had very poor acoustics! Also, impossible to hear or enjoy the performance because of disruptive audience in our section. The pre-show comedian was not funny or entertaining.

    We left after 15 minutes

    by chrism08 on 4/27/15Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Jane was mostly singing songs. That was boring because there was no coherent story or episodes. Besides I didn't get why the songs were supposed to be funny or what was going on there in general. We left after 15 minutes because this was a waste of time (and money).

    Jane Lynch live

by momks on 4/27/15Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Only knew artist from her role on Two and Half Men. We loved her in that role and wrongly assumed that she'd be doing some kind of stand-up routine. It was anything but that. She performed a bunch of songs we'd never heard with a liberal dose of inside gay humor that was lost on us. Most of the songs seemed modified, kind of like an annoying person singing along with the car radio and changing the words to amuse only themselves. Think "Weird Al Yankowick" meets Sara Bernhardt. Show sucked.

    Who new- Jane was great!!

by Anonymous on 3/31/15Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

I did not know Jane could sing like that. The band and her costars along with the humor all melded together for a very enjoyable evening. The only complaint is I wish it had been a little longer.

    Great Night Out!!

by Harpua1069 on 3/31/15Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

I attended this show with my fiance' who is a huge fan of Glee. I am a huge fan of Christopher Guest movies (e.g. Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, Spinal Tap) and Jane Lynch's work in them. This show was a cabaret/variety show. The music was great and I was impressed with Ms Lynch's singing. Her lyrics had Laura and I rolling many times throughout the show. We both had a wonderful time and the show made for a wonderful night out on the town.

A Terrific Night at the Cabaret

by JohnnyKaye on 3/31/15Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

Jane Lynch and company gave all of us a wonderful evening's entertainment. Ms. Lynch has assembled a talented group of singers and musicians not just to back her during the 75 or so minutes of song and very little dance. A five piece jazz combo opens the evening with music & a little comedy to get everyone in the mood. Then comes a very good male singer who was the music coordinator from Ms. Lynch very successful TV series, "Glee". He sings a few songs and then brings on Jane. She sings a few songs with a surprisingly powerful "Broadway" type voice. Jane then brings on another female singer/commediane who used to be on "The Office", to sing and dance with her and the rest of the troupe. All in all was a fun evening, albeit a short one.

    FABulous!

by ATLPamela on 3/31/15Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

SO funny, such good singing, creative lyrics --- LOVED it!!! Only point: would be better in a club, rather than a hall/theater. Wish we could see her/them in New York at the Carlyle or 54 Below, but nothing like that in Atlanta, as far as I know. Loved the addition of Meredith from The Office and the composer/lyricist from Glee; the three of them play off each other so well! All in all, a great evening!!!

    Lots of Fun!

by Dogsnapper on 3/31/15Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

This old-school cabaret style show really showcased Jane Lynch's vocal skills, as well as her well-known comedic skills. She was backed by a tight jazz ensemble that played a few numbers to open the show, Glee vocal director Tim Davis (who crooned a few solo numbers, and Kate Flannery (Meredith on "The Office"). Davis' vocal arrangements really shined on the trio numbers, which included songs from "A Mighty Wind," and "The Real Live Brady Bunch," as well as other specialty songs, closing with a close harmony version of "The Party's Over."

    Juggernaut Jane!!

by JudyATL on 3/31/15Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

We LOVED Jane Lynch's show that we saw Sat., 3-28-15 in Atlanta. She's funny & has a wonderful voice with very wide range. The band was terrific (loved the "Sacho" mimic) with excellent musicians, & her two singing companions were an added benefit. I reserve the 5-Star rating of "Amazing" for things that totally blow me away, but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this show to anyone!!

Too short on time and humor

by 1ntrepidTraveler on 3/31/15Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

"An evening with Jane Lynch" it was not- she performed for less than an hour. The jazz band that performed for the first half hour or so had made a joke at the beginning that Jane Lynch wasn't coming tonight, & we were beginning to believe it. What humor there was, was very funny, but there wasn't alot of it- it was primarily singing. She can belt it out, but there weren't alot of well-known show tunes. "Blood on the Coals" was hilarious, particularly Kate Flannery. We got tickets on sale, so I'd say it was worth what we paid, but had I been one of those folks who paid $70-100.00 per ticket, I would have been pissed.

Great show with Jane Lynch and company

by ethanater on 3/31/15Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

Having known Jane Lynch through Glee and movies, I did not know what to expect. I thought it would be a stand up routine. It was not. It was a cabaret show with a fantastic jazz quintet and two other singers. Lots of fun, humor, interesting songs, jokes and a very entertaining evening. Highly recommended.
