SOME SHOWS YOU SEE. THIS SHOW YOU FEEL.

Joy, love, heartache, strength, wisdom, catharsis, LIFE--everything we've been waiting to see in a Broadway show-- is here in the exhilarating, fearless new musical based on Alanis Morissette's world-changing music.

Directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus (Waitress, Pippin, upcoming 1776) with a Tony-winning book by Diablo Cody (Juno) and Grammy-winning score, this electrifying production about a perfectly imperfect American family "vaults the audience to its collective feet" (The Guardian). "Redemptive, rousing and real, JAGGED LITTLE PILL stands alongside the original musicals that have sustained the best hopes of Broadway." (The New York Times)

You live, you learn, you remember what it's like to feel truly human... at JAGGED LITTLE PILL.

    Hard to Swallow

    by R&J on 4/25/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

The show was just terrible. We left at intermission. The actors did their best, but I don't understand how this show got Tony nominations. Cliched, hackneyed book. The show sadly makes you realize that Alanis' songs are not that great. The performances often sounded like karaoke. Terrible guitar.

    Should come with trigger warnings

by Nik on 4/23/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

The cast was tremendous however the storylines and topics were heady and provocative. I go to musicals (especially one with beloved music from the 90s) to escape the trauma of the news cycle and life. Diablo Cody jumped the shark on this one and ruined Morrisettes music for me forever. What a depressing and disappointing show!

Intriguing, relevant show marred by poor sound

by Andrew on 4/23/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Where we were sitting (lower balcony) the sound was muffled and poorly mixed. Many of the vocals were lost in the wash of music from the band. But also, about 15-20% of the dialog got distorted. My row mates concurred. I hope the sound engineers will make it so that all the seats have clear sound, since so much of the show depends on word play.

    Schreachy and Preachy

by Steven Fishbein on 4/21/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

I have attended many Broadway in Chicago as well as Broadway productions. This was the single worst ever. So bad that during intermission I estimate over 10% of the audience left. Music was too schreachy …. Content was too preachy…. Very disappointed in the musical and the production value

    Amazing!

by CR on 4/21/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

One of the best musicals I have ever seen. So well done and the actress playing Mary Jane (the mom) had the most incredible voice, gave me chills!

    Truly a great performance!

by Dulcimer girl on 4/21/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Everything about this production was amazing— the audience could feel all of the emotions. Beautiful voices telling a poignant story. I particularly enjoyed ‘Jo’ played by Jade McLeod who rendered many to tears with her heartfelt performance.

    👏👏👏

by JeffO on 4/21/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

I didn’t know what to expect going into this show, and that was probably best. I know some of Alanis’s hits, but not a super fan… it didn’t even matter. It was such a powerful performance and for this being a touring cast- they were on fire! So many amazing artistic choices that were truly emotion provoking. I also loved how they incorporated different genres of dance into the performance. Some of the contemporary dance moments were AMAZING, others became slightly repetitive with specific technical movements. Overall- I would highly suggest seeing this show! Get your ticket today… especially if you like her music!

    An Okay Show

    by N. M. on 4/21/23

Overall, the show is okay but there are some things to work out. Our show had a lot of pitch problems and sound issues. Actors were consistently off key through numbers, but it could be because the band was too loud behind them. There’s no doubt the person who played “Jo” had the best voice out there. Fit the style of music and had the best range and balance. Some of the actors were a bit shrill and almost screamed their parts. Story line has potential but the music didn’t always fit the plot. Glad we saw it but won’t be a repeat.

    It just gets better

by Niggle on 4/20/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

I loved it. I was cynical to start with but I am still thinking about it a week later. My downsides were minor. I thought ensemble dancing was below my expectation. Leads roles were outstanding especially the mother, but I thought the daughter ( a great singer) was not angry enough for her songs. The best friend showed how to sing an angry song and I am still singing “ you oughta know”. Wow that was good. We saw multiple shows while in New York and Chicago and I would happily see this again and recommend it. Good accessible theatre that needs more ladies toilets.

    Amazing!!

    by L. A. on 4/20/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

The show is very contemporary, it brings important issues to society in a light and often funny way. Moreover, Allanis' songs enter the story very coherently. The actors sing and dance a lot, the band is incredible, and the production is amazing, it makes you feel what the character is going through. I surely recommend!!

    by M. W. on 4/18/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Everything about this show was so relevant to our climate today. The performances of all the actors/actresses were just outstanding, especially Jade McLeod. I was moved to tears from the emotional & exhausting show. They all really put everything into each scene & song. Just Wonderful - Thanks!

    Contemporary subject with great music!

by TH on 4/18/23James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Emotional yet uplifting! Music was great but acoustics in the theater made some singers hard to understand. Thanks for the captioning. That made it more enjoyable!
