About

Jackson Browne has written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music and has defined a genre of songwriting charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2007.

Except for a brief period in NYC in the late 1960s, Jackson has always lived in Southern California. His debut album came out on David Geffen's Asylum Records in 1972. Since then, he has released fourteen studio albums, four collections of live performances, two "best of" compilations, two DVDs and several single recordings. Jackson's newest studio album, "Downhill From Everywhere" was released in July 2021 and GRAMMY nominated for Best Americana Album.

Browne is known for his advocacy on behalf of the environment, human rights, and arts education. He's a co-founder of the groups Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) and Nukefree.org and a member of the Ocean advocacy group, Ocean Elders.

In 2002, he was the fourth recipient of the John Steinbeck Award, given to artists whose works exemplify the environmental and social values that were essential to the great California-born author. He has received Duke University's LEAF award for Lifetime Environmental Achievement in the Fine Arts, and both the Chapin-World Hunger Year and NARM Harry Chapin Humanitarian Awards. In 2004, Jackson was given an honorary Doctorate of Music by Occidental College in Los Angeles, for "a remarkable musical career that has successfully combined an intensely personal artistry with a broader vision of social justice."

Jackson Browne puts on great show!

by Tman11 on 7/14/09Ives Concert Park - Danbury

The venue was outstanding for a concert and the weather couldn't have been better. Browne hit the stage at 7:40 and played a mix of new and old songs that had the crowd cheering wildly. After an hour, he took a 15 minute intermission and came back and played for another hour and 20 minutes. He talked to the crowd frequently in between songs and seemed to be enjoying himself. He remarked that the Ives Center was a beautiful place and that he had never played there before. He played 5 songs from his latest CD and the rest were old favorites and songs from his older material. His band is very good and the 2 back up singers add a whole new dimension to his performances. All in all, a great evening of music

A beautiful night under the stars listening to Jackson Browne made it a near perfect evening. He is playing a lot of new tunes on this tour so don't expect to hear all of your favorites.

Jackson Browne is as good as he was 20 years ago!!

by Zeppy on 7/14/09Ives Concert Park - Danbury

Everything about the performance was great. Jackson hasn't lost anything to this point. Other than some obnoxious attendees who just sat there and talked as if they were home on their decks, the entire experience at the Ives was enjoyable.

We have seen JB for many years and his voice was as silky and smooth as ever! Played a great variety of songs, spoke a little and seemed to have a great time too!

Excellent band, Jackson in fine form!!

by twaynge on 7/11/09Casino Rama - Orillia

I have never been to Casino Rama for a concert. I was very impressed with the acoustics. The song lyrics were clear and sharp and the sound mix was perfect. Jackson was in fine form with a great rapport with the audience. My only negative criticism was the concert was too short at only an hour and forty minutes. Another 20 or 30 minutes would have made it truly amazing and 5 star. Still, I would go again in a heartbeat!

    Browne is Best

by JoeD on 7/9/09Casino Rama - Orillia

Jackson Browne provided fans with a show that demonstrates his deep understanding of his fans. He was conversational, complimentary to hia audience and truly enjoyed himself on stage with his precision performing band. Our attending group of fans aged 55 to 60 were amazed at Jackson's energy, not to mention his never aging youthful looks. Thanks Jackson!

    Jackson Browne - Great entertainer

by kopchak on 7/9/09Casino Rama - Orillia

We had a fun time up at Casino Rama seeing Jackson Browne last night. I had seen him on a number of occasions before, including solo acoustic. The best part of the show was the addition of two fantastic backup singers, Althea Mills and Chavonne Morris. They really brought new life to some of the older songs including a poignant "Lives in the Balance." What is with Jackson Browne's hair? It is getting a little bit grey but it looks just like it did in 1969! I would have enjoyed to hear a little more older material.... he tends to stick a lot to his 1990's and 2000 material... If anyone knows Jackson Browne personally tell him he should do the song "Hold on Hold Out" or "Of Missing Persons" with the new singers in the band... it would be great!

    Jackson Browne was awesome

by JBrianRocks on 7/9/09Casino Rama - Orillia

After a 13 year sabbatical from live shows in Ontario (Aug 1996, Kingswood), Jackson showed his beloved audience that his passion for music has not diminished. This artist's stock of quality songs is too deep however for the show's 95 minute length. Jackson's voice has remained unscathed over the years. It is as soothing today as it ever was. The band's dynamic was elevated with 2 female support vocalists that the audience really appreciated and I might add, Jackson did as well while introducing them twice. I did miss however, long time colleagues, David Lindley and Danny Kortchmar. He related to his sold out 'aging' audience well and delivered a set that spanned 40 years of writing.

Jackson Browne is my very favorite musician!

by Rome on 7/8/09Riverbend Musci Center - Cincinnati

I love Jackson's beautiful melodies, I love his lyrics-he is a great poet!, and I also think he is handsome. I used to say to my friends I wish I could marry Jackson! (LOL!), because I like his personality so much. I'm most impressed by his strong sensitivity which is beautifully displayed in his music and lyrics. I can honestly say, I have every single one of his records, that ever came out, and any time he comes to my hometown of Cincinnati, I always make sure I get a ticket to come see him! He is my first choice! to go see, if I see his name on a list of concert events. Thank you., Jackson , for filling my heart with such wonderful tunes! Always, "Rome."
