About

Iron Maiden are one of the most formative bands to establish the heavy metal genre in the ’80s. Formed in 1975 in East London, the band underwent several personnel changes before releasing their self-titled debut in 1980. Iron Maiden’s sophomore effort, 1981’s Killers, was the first to chart in the U.S. and marked the final release with lead singer Paul Di'Anno. With the installment of frontman Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden released their breakthrough 1982 album, The Number of the Beast, which reached platinum certification, introduced two staples to the band’s catalog with the title track and “Run to the Hills” and kicked off a 10-year run of releases to land in the Top 40 on the Billboard 200, including their 1983 follow-up Piece of Mind and 1986’s Somewhere in Time. Dickinson departed in 1993, but returned in 1999 to cement the current lineup with bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris; guitarists Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers; and drummer Nicko McBrain, along with the band’s long-standing mascot “Eddie,” whose skeletal figure has graced the cover of nearly every release and become a signature of their live performances. Iron Maiden reached a new level of mainstream success in the ’10s, winning their first Grammy in the Best Metal Performance category for their 2010 single “El Dorado,” while 2010’s The Final Frontier and 2015’s The Book of Souls both earned No. 4 placements on the Billboard 200, marking their highest-charting albums at the time.

I wanted to hear the old stuff.

by Robbyq on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

I was really lookin forward to the show.Have always been a huge Maiden fan, but I mostly like the older stuff, pre 1990. I was disappointed that they played mostly new stuff. It wasn't bad, but based on the fact they weren't supporting a new album, most everyone there wanted to hear the old stuff.Wasn't terrible, but i was kinda just standing around the first hour & 15 minutes.

Could have had more Older Music

by DaddyBrooks on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

Overall, I would rate this concert a 6 on a one to 10 scale. They only played 4 older tracks which included Running Free, Iron Maiden, Number Of The Beast and Hallowed Be Thy Name. Dallas was the first concert on their tour, so I guess that explains the not so great sound, Bruces voice was inaudible at times, the quitars seemed to have a reverberation between them. The stage show was really good though, not too bad for a bunch of older guys. Alot of stage dynamics. Unfortunately, I wouldn't reccomend this concert to anyone expecting to hear Run to the Hills, the Trooper, Powerslave, etc... They played nothing off of Somewhere in Time, Powerslave, or Piece of Mind albums. If you are wanting to hear mostly the newer Maiden tunes, this concert is for you. If you like the older tunes, I would recommend waiting for their next tour.

    Iron Maiden rocked Dallas!

They've sold out or they are too old to rock

by Chillichomper on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

They did alot of songs from their new album which was to be expected but the only old stuff they did was brave new world, number of the beast and hallowed be thy name. That is NOT the way to open a show for a new tour and not having visited dallas for a loong time! I felt like I wasted my $$$ and time. IMHO they should've included at least 6 classic songs and done a finale with dream theater. Dream theater was good. They did stuff from their new album, and constant motion and pull me under all in a short 1 hour set!. Overall I wouldn't recommend this show unless you've never seen dream theater.

    Best show ever

    Maiden and Dream Theater incredible!

by Irons on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

Both bands still powerful and entertaining! It was a complete adrenaline rush the entire time. I took my 19 and 15 year-old boys (both are fans of both bands) along with my country western wife and they had a blast. My wife even mentioned that she liked "Fear of the Dark". Both bans are absolutely relevant - and the high-energy, packed house crowd was a definite sign of that. But there is no question of relevance anyway. It was great to see the legendary Iron Maiden once again!! ( My one beef is that they didn't play "Run to the Hills" and "The Trooper". Oh well.....)

    Iron Maiden kicked A$$ !

by FloresJr on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

The show was great, this was the first time to see them . I only wish they sang more of their older stuff, and had their full stage set up. Over all I would definently see Iron Maiden again.

by epauoro on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

It is a mixture of new-I-dont-know-songs( but I liked, with classics that I liked a lot. Missing musics for me powerslave, the rhyme, the tropper, 2 minutes

    Short set, but still amazing

by PeachesLosBastardos on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

To start, tickets REALLY need to say what time doors open as opposed to when they show starts, I arrived at 7:45 and only saw 30 minutes of Dream Theater, which is only about 4 songs worth and disappointed me a LOT. Once Iron Maiden started, I was very impressed, they still have a ton of energy for how long they have been together, the only detractors from their show being the fact that it was too short considering DT only played for 45 mins (IM played under two hours), and they didn't play enough classics, but more of their new long epic prgo songs, which are still good, but no Trooper or Run to the Hills

    Last nights show

    by pnypwr5 on 6/10/10Superpages.com - Dallas

So I saw the new tour last night(first night of tour) and overall it was amazing as Iron Maiden is one of the best metal bands ever and still are. One thing though, if you are going to hear classic Maiden, you should have went to the Somewhere Back In Time Tour......I have never seen a Maiden show where I did not hear Two Minutes to Midnight, The Trooper, Run to The Hills, Powerslave, Wasted Years, Aces High, Flight of Icarus, etc, etc......I was surprised that they played well over two hours and only five classic Maiden songs. Most were from Brave New World, and from about 1995 era and up. Still Amazing show, but your a heads up of you are wanting to hear the classics that put them where they are at today and got them started........Rock On!!

    Lost

    by metalman456 on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

i've been a Maiden fan for years. I was very dissapointed in the set list. i saw Maiden in Phoenix two yeas ago and it was amazing. this concert however was composed of mostly new material with only about three clasics being played. Maiden needs to play new music i understand. However, they need to remember to play the songs that got them their fame. i was looking for more clasics. What no "Trooper"? that is an outrage.

    Maiden rules

    by Hector1403 on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

AWESSOOOMMMMEEEE SHOW. With DT opening and Iron maiden closing. It was the best show that anyone can every see. Its hard to imagine how amazing maiden is and with what energy they play their songs. We just missed the classic maiden songs being the first timers as they played songs from their newer/later albums. Must see for anyone and everyone who ever wants to see them. UP THE IRONS !!!!!!

    Really? Really?!

by Goodtimesofdeath on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

Dream theater played 5 or 6 songs. 40 minutes. We were under the impression that they would play a full set. Dream Theater has NEVER liked Dallas and I cant blame them. But I have paid literally hundreds of dollars to see them over the years and only got one good show (Scenes from a Memory at the Bronco Bowl 3 hours). Maiden came out and played very well. They were on their a game for sure. Nicko was perfect and Bruce sounded better than he did when I saw them back in 85 on the World Slavery tour. Here is where I am speechless... NOTHING from their golden years. Nothing from Piece, Powerslave, Somewhere, or Seventh Son. NOTHING! They played the worst set list that they could have chosen. They hyped the new Eddie that showed up for 30 seconds! Drinking $12 beers and waiting for them to play Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner sucked!!! At least they played Hallowed and Running Free.

The band sounded great. It was cool that it was the opening show for the tour. I wish they had played some more of the old songs. Running Free was awesome for the encore!

by jtushka on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

perfect performance from a perfect band!! Dream theater was a good choice for support, but Maiden came through with a performance that decimated Dallas, TX.
