About

Iron Maiden are one of the most formative bands to establish the heavy metal genre in the ’80s. Formed in 1975 in East London, the band underwent several personnel changes before releasing their self-titled debut in 1980. Iron Maiden’s sophomore effort, 1981’s Killers, was the first to chart in the U.S. and marked the final release with lead singer Paul Di'Anno. With the installment of frontman Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden released their breakthrough 1982 album, The Number of the Beast, which reached platinum certification, introduced two staples to the band’s catalog with the title track and “Run to the Hills” and kicked off a 10-year run of releases to land in the Top 40 on the Billboard 200, including their 1983 follow-up Piece of Mind and 1986’s Somewhere in Time. Dickinson departed in 1993, but returned in 1999 to cement the current lineup with bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris; guitarists Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers; and drummer Nicko McBrain, along with the band’s long-standing mascot “Eddie,” whose skeletal figure has graced the cover of nearly every release and become a signature of their live performances. Iron Maiden reached a new level of mainstream success in the ’10s, winning their first Grammy in the Best Metal Performance category for their 2010 single “El Dorado,” while 2010’s The Final Frontier and 2015’s The Book of Souls both earned No. 4 placements on the Billboard 200, marking their highest-charting albums at the time.

    Weak Setlist

by brewmiester on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

Iron Maiden had their typical energy and Bruce D ran his a** off. No pyro No laser, great stage and lighting. If you like the new stuff then this show is for you. They didn't play my favorite "The Trooper"! All in all a good show but by far the weakest Maiden show I have ever seen.

Dream Theater needs to Headline their own show

by Crazybob on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

Maiden was great. Always are always will be. However, Dream Theater is to experienced and established to be an opening act. A 45 minute set is way too short for such a great band.

    No Classics until the encore

by ClassicMaidenFan on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

As an old-time Maiden fan (from 1982 to Bruce's departure), new-era (last 10 years) Maiden just doesn't do it for me like the old material. Of course, it's good music, it's just not the same (go ahead and flame me now, detractors). What Maiden (and other reviewers) don't realize is this may be many fans' first Maiden show - for my 44 year old husband, it was (he just never had the chance to see them back in "the day"). We were unable to make the drive to Houston two years ago when they completely skipped Dallas on what I've read called the "gift" concert to fans (playing mostly classic material), so having not seen them since 1988, I was very let down. Additionally, the sound mix was iffy at times - Bruce's voice (when we could hear it) was amazing; Dave's guitar wasn't quite balanced with Adrian and Jannick; and the stage set up wasn't very well thought out, if you weren't in the center section, you couldn't see Nicko at all. I hope they work on the mix for future shows. If the previous 3 albums are "your" Maiden, you will love this show. If, however, you're an old-timer, you will likely go away disappointed.

    Forgotten Classics

    by Demon66 on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

As usual, Iron Maiden was tight as a drum. They display all the professionalism of a band that's been playing live and recording for the last 30 years. I respect the fact that they continue to release new music and not rely totally on older material. HOWEVER, the setlist for this particular show was top heavy with post 2000 songs with nary a hint of 80's classics. Not one track from "Piece of Mind"? Really? No doubt Maiden shows massive cahonies playing an hour and a half of newer material before launching into "Iron Maiden". But for a diehard fan since the early 80's, the song selection for opening night was disappointing.

    wtf happened

by biohazard on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

I was there for Dream Theater , but was disappointed as they only played 5-6 songs tops. They sounded great and as a fan wished they would had played longer. Iron Maiden was average, they were loud but the sound was off. I have seen these guys back in the 80s and early 90s and by comparison, not even close.

    1st Time

by NorthTexasBobcat on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

I have been a fan for a few years, saw the documentary Flight 666 so I wanted to attend a live concert. The show was great, even though I was disappointed that they didn't play "Run To The Hills". The band performed up to expectations and were high energy on all the songs. "Eddie" had a great reincarnation and he also put on an excellent performance. I was amazed at the audience participation. I would give this concert and Iron Maiden an A +, after all, when Satan, a zombie/mummy/alien hell-beast and one of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time show up in Dallas with its usual rambunctious crowd, how can you not love it?

    Iron Maiden is phenominal

by ScaredRabbit on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

I was not a fan of Iron Maiden until I saw the Flight 666 video and then I knew that I had to see them live. I picked up a lawn seat for $25.00 with no service fee and parking included (thanks Live Nation) and figured that even if I didn't enjoy the show, $25.00 was not big loss. Turns out, it was the best $25.00 I have spent all year. Dream Theater opened up and rocked out. They played for about an hour and sounded great. I knew none of their songs, but became an instant fan. After an hour break, Maiden took the stage and for the next two hours, gave everything they had. The energy level was constant from the first to the last song. They had a new stage backdrop for almost every song. Eric's voice was clear and strong and he was all over the stage. The three guitars and bass were well polished, clean, and the sound in the complex was really good. Dallas in June can be hot for an outside show, but a cool front had blown through and there was a breeze, so it was actually a really nice night for an outside show. To say that Iron Maiden did not disappoint would be selling them short. They were AMAZING and I will definitely see them live again.

    Great, but....

    by MaidenFanSince82 on 6/10/10Superpages.com Center - Dallas

Great performance by the band, but the sound quality SUCKED at the venue. DT that opened the show sounded really good, not deafening loud, either. I don't mind loud, I like it loud, but NOT at the expense of sound quality. When Maiden got on stage, it was noticeably louder but the sound system could NOT handle it, and it sounded pretty awful for most of the show. Sound guy wasn't good either as you could hear Dave Murray's solos just fine, yet the other two couldn't be heard very well at all. And I was 10th row, center stage. The worst in the mix was Bruce...you could barely hear 75-85% of his vocals. I saw Adrian Smith screwing with his in-ear monitors more than once, and point to his ear and shake his head while playing down towards a crewman in front like he couldn't hear, either. And it's too bad as you could tell the few times they had things set right that the band was spot on and incredible. Too bad the sound quality and mixing was so horrible that it spoiled what could have been one of the best concerts I've ever been to.

    Don't Miss them

by Equinas on 3/21/10Selland Arena - Fresno, California

I saw them in Fresno, California on "The Number of the Beast" tour. It was Dickenson's first tour with the band, and they were fantastic. Believe it or not, I have not had the opportunity to see them since, but I won't miss them this time.!!!

    The Best Concert Experience EVER!!!

by Wapiti5 on 3/14/10Comfort Dental Ampitheatre - Littleton

Are you kidding? Iron Maiden is the best concert you will ever go to. Period. My first Iron Maiden concert was in London, many many years ago, then to the US for Piece Of Mind tour, then I went all the way down to Rio to see them, the third time was Brave New World, then Matter of Life and Death in Stockholm, now this! They have never failed to deliver. Best moments always seem to be when Eddie comes lumbering across the stage. Usually Bruce has a bit of a time getting him under control (back in chains, as it were). They are not for the faint of heart, and definitely not for beginners. Bruce usually delivers some good stuff without being preachy, and the repertoire is always masterful. Bear in mind that this is one of the highest intellect metal bands out there - subjects range from classical literature to history to mythology, and each piece is written much the same way as a classically trained composer would - Steve Harris and Adrian Smith are experts at this! They always play much longer than you expect them to - Bruce "the Siren" Dickinson's operatic voice never gives out, and your ears will be bleeding halfway through. I rank their performance a 5, only because there is no higher number. LONG LIVE MAIDEN!!!
