About

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

Contemporary folk icons Indigo Girls have had a long tenure as torchbearers of a modern approach to folk music that incorporates elements of alternative rock, punk, and country into the genre's traditional foundation. Each taking the stage with a guitar and a distinct voice, Emily Saliers and Amy Ray find the right balance of tension and harmony at their live shows, thrilling fans with marathon sets of mainstream hits and cult classics from their extensive catalog. In anticipation of a return to the studio in late 2014 for their 14th album, the Girls are pulling out all the stops on tour, performing alongside some of the country's best symphony orchestras at select dates around the country.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Childhood schoolmates Amy Ray and Emily Saliers began performing together while attending high school in Atlanta, eventually assuming the name Indigo Girls during their time together at Emory College. Their strong showing on 1987 debut LP Strange Fires set the stage for their self-titled 1989 sophomore album, which scored them their first hit with "Closer to Fine" and received a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. 1994's Swamp Ophelia would be an even bigger success, peaking at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and going on to receive platinum certification from the RIAA. Over two and a half decades, the Indigo Girls have endured as one of folk's most beloved alternative acts, showing no signs of slowing with new material and a tour in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Absolutely fantastic show, Amy and Emily are very talented musicians, but when you add a 75 piece backup band to their music, it hits new heights."

"Best musical performance I have ever seen. Seeing the Indigo Girls play with a symphony orchestra was incredible."

"It was amazing to hear this duo and their powerful harmonies played with a full symphony orchestra. I have seen them live before, but this was a special event."

    AWSOME NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!

by IndigoLove2 on 7/13/09Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

This by far was the best Indigo Girls concert I have been too. I have been to 5 so far, and I loved that they did a lot of their classic songs. Was great, beautiful night under the stars with my Wife and best friend. Every song hit the heart.

Humphrey's continues to provide a great venue for concerts. The Indigo Girls were outstanding last night--only wish there was time for more songs--they never disappoint.

    They stil can rock it

by IOtter on 7/13/09Zellerbach Hall - Berkeley

Just getting to this review but the memories are still reasonably fresh. The ladies can still belt, soar, strum and strut as ever. Hope they come back real soon. THey also had a couple of guest artists. One opened for them; a gentleman who sang with a beautiful high and clear voice, in a style reminiscent of the 'girls, and another who tore up the stage with her rock-style number.

    Can't get enough. . .

    by happy2b on 7/12/09Lakewood Theater - Dallas

I just don't know how they do it. I've seen the Girls so many times now, and each time they are just so on. This show will go down as one of favorites, maybe partially because of the venue (the Lakewood Theatre was very personable feeling, partly because of the great art deco nudes glowing on either side of the stage and partly because of the freedom of movement there that allowed for better camarderie) but mainly because of the connection the Girls make with the audience and their appreciation for our appreciation of them. Every song is a commitment to their craft. Everybody was in great singing voice (I'm including we the audience) and the Girls hit a fabulous mix of the new songs from Posiden and the Bitter Bug and the old songs. They did Chickenman again and I was shocked at how fresh and alive it felt. GREAT instrumental, Emily beautifully assisted by the guitar player from their opening act. He was exceptional, and very unassuming. I'm so glad I went, even though my drive to Dallas is toward three hours.

    Indigo Girls Rocked the Lakewood!!!

by DallasIGFan on 7/12/09Lakewood Theater - Dallas

The venue was terrific, the Indigo Girls were AMAZING!!! Terrific sound quality and really intimate ambience. The opening act sounded as clear as the headliners - an unusual occurrence. Very much enjoyed this outstanding act at this warm, friendly facility.

    Indigo Girls Still Incredible

by Firedancer on 7/12/09Lakewood Theater - Dallas

After listening to their CDs for years, I made it a priority to see the Indigo Girls when we moved to Dallas two years ago. Hearing them in concert was even superior to listening to their CD with surround-sound speakers. I closed my eyes and images of my past lives came into focus, bringing tears and laughter. The timbre of their voices was so amazing, even in concert, that I held my breath to hear the melody and harmony intermingle with each other. Since my daughter was killed in an accident two years ago, the concert was extremely bittersweet. We would listen to the Indigo Girls on our road trips, bonding more and more with each word of each song. Although the tears poured down, I felt Carey was with me, singing right along. Although they didn't do some of my favorite older songs, it was wonderful to hear songs from the new CD. "Three hits to the heart, and the last one still sings in me."

    wife and i loved it

by khonshu on 7/12/09Lakewood Theater - Dallas

my wife has been a lifelong fan, and when i heard that they were coming to dallas, i knew i had to get tickets. the tickets said 7pm, but the opening act didn't start for several hours, and she wasn't great. we almost left because the opening act was disappointing. but we are both glad we stuck it out, because the indigo girls were great! several classics, several songs we'd not heard before, but all in all a great show. i'd most certainly recommend going again!

    Always Outstanding!

by momtotwolittleuns on 7/12/09Lakewood Theater - Dallas

As always, the Indigo Girls put on a great show! Loved the intimacy of the Lakewood Theater - but they could have used more seating & filled a bigger venue. That said, seeing them in a small setting, completely acoustic is the way to go! They are amazingly talented and love their fans. They're the one band I'll always pay to see - whether or not I'm even up to date on their current music.

it could've been the best show ever

by chemgirl on 7/11/09El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

having seen the indigo girls previously and being a follower of theirs for quite some time, i was incredibly excited to see them at a venue as small as the el rey in a city as large as los angeles. however, what could've been one of the greatest shows i've ever seen, was unfortunately reduced to one of average status. the indigo girls put on a great show, and were technically flawless, but the set list they chose to play consisted of mostly newer and unfamiliar songs, leaving familiar favorites far and few in between. the show won't keep me from seeing them again, but perhaps the next time i won't have such high hopes.

    Indigo Girls deliver (as always...)

by redbeck on 7/11/09Zellerbach Hall - Berkeley

I, like many people, have seen the Indigo Girls on numerous occasions and have always enjoyed their mix of acoustic and full-band treatments over the years. Yet prior to another concert, I caught myself asking whether it would be worth seeing them...wouldn't it be just like the last time? I'm, glad I didn't listen (sometimes my brain is just plain dumb). It was SO worth it, SO fun, SO Indigo Girls.

Indigo Girls - better than ever!!!

by roricampbellsongs on 7/11/09House of Blues Anaheim - Anaheim

This comemorated my 24th time seeing Indigo Girls live in 20 years. Like fine wine, these two women have continued to improve over the years - generously giving fans the best of themselves. Musicially they are complety on top of their game, their harmonies flawlessly woven together with their masterful guitar playing.

Indigo Girls bad energy, Matt Morris forgettable

by maggie3 on 7/11/09House of Blues Anaheim - Anaheim

We see the indigo Girls every time they are in town here in LA. We were so excited to see them at the House of Blues as we were able to get front row. It is such a intimate venue we were pumped and the audience was full of energy...untill Matt Morris came out. I'm not exactly sure what the Indigo Girls keep bringing who they have as opening acts out on stage with them, but it ruins their chemistry. Sadly Matt Morris was basically a college act and really brought the crowd down. By the time the Girls came out the crowd was way down. They then proceeded to pay mostly downer songs. That have some amazing songs and only 3 of them were played. The Indigo Girls themselves were noticably NOT interacting with each other. It was weird, there was no smiling, no laughing and no playing. We have decided we are going to miss their next few concerts for a while. This was the secons time we have seen them and were dissapointed. The last time wahs in Long Beach when it basically became a Brandy Carlile (not ure about her spelling) concert and the Indigo Girls played a little. I hope this gets to them. We love them and own all their music, sadly their concerts are no longer up to par.

Indigo Girls @ The El Rey Theater

by natsyr7 on 7/11/09El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

This show was amazing! The Indigo Girls are ALWAYS outstanding in concert, but this venue helped to exceed my expectations by FAR! The El Rey is a small intimate theater, and it's always a treat to see anyone play there. The Indigo Girls played a lot of their classics, along with a good number of tunes from their new album. Still, after all these years, the girls harmony brings chills down my spine!!! If you've never seen them live, I strongly urge you to pick yourself up some tickets!!!

Emily & Amy were (as always) AMAZING!

by GURL on 7/11/09Zellerbach Hall - Berkeley

Every time the Indigo Girls release a new CD my partner and I get almost giddy with anticipation. And honestly, we have never been disappointed yet. They always deliver the goods in the way that any Indigo Girl fan is looking for. This concert tour is well thought out and flowed nicely. This was also the second time we took our daughter (9 years old) to see her "favorite" duo. She was in heaven. Not many duos can make a 9 year old listen attentively for the entire set and leave him/her wanting more. Overall this was classic IG stuff. We will go again and again whenever we can.

    Indigo Girls were the best!

by RobynS on 7/11/09El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

great concert, as usual! I prefer seat assignments as opposed to standing room only, but as long as the Indigo Girls are performing, i can't complain!
