About

Now starring AMERICAN IDOL winner Jordin Sparks!

Winner of the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical.

Welcome to the kind of musical that comes around once in a generation. A musical that builds on the best traditions of theater while forging into fresh new territory. A musical about the importance of home, family and finding where you belong.

IN THE HEIGHTS tells the universal story of a vibrant community in Manhattan's Washington Heights - a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open, and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It's a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.

Discover where you belong, at Broadway's new Tony Award-winning classic, IN THE HEIGHTS.

    Exciting and fun!

by socaqueen on 7/3/13Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - Columbia

This play was full of music and dancing! The storyline was easy to follow even with knowing limited Spanish.

In the Heights was a great show

by WestbyGodVA on 6/18/13Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - Columbia

We originally saw this a couple of years ago on Broadway. The cast at Toby's did an excellent job bringing it to the dinner theater.

    This show was flawless

by TheTradeMarkExperience on 5/28/13Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - Columbia

The voices, particularly the female cast and the Piragua guy, were exceptional. The choreography was very impressive, and the set was very well done. The dinner buffet was delicious, and having the show unfolding in the round made for a very intimate viewing experience. I would absolutely recommend this show.

The show was great as expected, the price of admission includes the buffet dinner with Deseret! You won't be disappointed with these tickets!

    Fabulous musical!

by danzdiva on 5/17/13Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - Columbia

I wanted to see this musical after dancing to one of the songs in a dance class and finding out it was on Broadway once and never produced again. It was really good. Good actors, dancers singers and choreography. Of course, theater in the round is always cool making you feel like you are part of the play. My husband took me for my birthday and even he commented on how good it was. The whole story line of family within a community was touching and well expressed. Wouldn't it be great if we could solve all our problems with song and dance?

In The Heights May 4 2013

by DCVisitorX on 5/9/13Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - Columbia

WOW... Very well done! I never saw or even heard of the "In the Heights". It was a great production, great performances, and the VOICES!!! Just Great. As for the dinner buffet is was just OK. Nothing great, but the "service" from the cast members was nice!

    In the Heights...TOTALLY AMAZING!!!!

by RosiePD on 1/9/13Richard Rodgers Theater - New York

If you didn't get a chance to see this production, you have no idea what you missed. I loved it so much I saw it twice. Being Latino growing up in NYC really made me relate to the ambiance Miranda created through this musical. However, you don't have to be a native Spanish speaker in order to have enjoyed this show. If it ever comes back to BW, I'll be in the first row for a third time!

Average at best in a sweltering venue

by tweedlediva on 6/11/12Assembly Hall - Champaign

I came with a 9 month pregnant woman and felt so bad that she had to sit in the U of I Assembly hall and sweat for 2+ hours. The air must have been broken- it was at least 90 degrees in there. I have a degree in musical theater and was a professional, touring actress before having a family and I must say that I was disappointed in the performance. Lack luster energy, the actress who played Nina couldn't sing, and unimpressive sets. I was sad that it was my friend's first exposure to a professional touring company. Sad, too because the music and original cast of In the Heights was so phenomenal. Maybe we'll blame the heat?

    In the Heights So-So

by crustydog on 5/9/12Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

In the Heights is a good solid piece of entertainment and the cast did it up good in the performance my wife and I saw in Tucson. The trouble is with the show itself. It has no real showstopper songs and the ending altho poignant is just the ending. I've seen the show twice, once on Broadway and once here and I must say that the productions were both high caliber. For me tho', the show itself is just so-so.

    I enjoyed this musical!

by RM2012 on 5/8/12Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

There was a little bit of something for everyone--rap, singing, dancing, comedy, drama. I really enjoyed this musical!

Play was entertaining but lacked a real plot. The characters were realistic.

    In the Heights was boring

by DJ2012z on 5/4/12Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

I was surprised at how hard it was to understand some of the songs and dialog. The music was boring DVD the characters were undeveloped.

There was something in it for everyone...something that each person in the family could relate to. The show was upbeat, yet, there were some sad scenes. It was good for the soul. I was surprised that my 22 year old son enjoyed it. I think it was the rapping that kept him tuned in. Along with the fact that it was a "Latino" family. It expressed our culture (i.e. family closeness and sticking together through the good, bad and the ugly).

    In the Heights was great!

I treated my cousin to the show--it was a last minute decision and we did not know anything about it entering the theater. We were both pleasantly surprised at how wonderful it was.

In the Heights Had Tall Talent!

by Schocker on 5/2/12Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

The talent in this show was exceptional! It's unfortunate the sound system made it difficult to hear the majority of the show. Despite that it was a show that captured your attention from the very first moment, and kept you capitvated until the end.

    In the Heights

by BroadwayGoerTucson on 5/2/12Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

This musical is great. It has an amazing story with some really upbeat songs. The person playing Abuela does a fantastic job(even meets the greatness of the original Broadway Abuela) as does Usnavi. Nina's voice and stature don't really fit the part. Her songs, which are usually powerful and emotional, are lacking in her thin voice. It is definitely a must see musical.

    Spirited Fun

by whitebeard7 on 5/2/12Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

Moving and musical. Rapping is usually not my cup of tea but this was both appropriate and advanced the story line. A unique approach to a changing neighborhood in the city. Dreams and reality meet and hope remains. Great cast with great voices.

I loved this show. It felt like you were there in the streets with them and the rapping was awesome!
