About

Menzel is a Tony-Award winning, powerhouse multi-hyphenate: a singer, an actress in film and TV, a songwriter, a Broadway star, and a philanthropist. She rose to fame for her role as Maureen in the popular Broadway musical Rent, and her career took off when she won a Tony Award for her role as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, in the smash musical Wicked.

Her voice can be heard as Elsa in Disney's Oscar® winning Frozen, the second highest grossing animated films of all time, with more than $1.2 billion in worldwide box office revenue. The film's song "Let It Go", voiced by Menzel, became an instant international phenomenon, winning the Oscar® for Best Original Song-where Menzel performed it at the ceremony-and the Grammy® Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media. The track reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Menzel the first artist with both a Billboard Top 10 hit and a Tony Award for acting. Menzel received the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award at Billboard's annual Women in Music event in 2014 and performed the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLIX.

A skillful songwriter, Menzel's prolific recording career includes multiple cast albums and the solo albums: Still I Can't Be Still, Here, I Stand and idina, which landed in the Top 30 on Billboard's Top 200 charts upon its release in 2016. She's released 2 holiday-themed albums, Holiday Wishes, which debuted at #1 on Billboard's Holiday Albums chart and gave Menzel a Top 10 album on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and its 2019 follow-up, Christmas: A Season of Love featuring duets with Ariana Grande, Billy Porter, Josh Gad and Idina's husband, Aaron Lohr.

This past fall, Menzel released her electrifying dance project Drama Queen via BMG. The project is a departure from what she's released in the past, as Menzel showcases her powerhouse vocals through disco-infused beats and soaring anthems. Idina worked with award-winning collaborators including Nile Rodgers (Chic, Diana Ross, Beyonce), Justin Tranter (Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez), Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters), Sir Nolan (Shawn Mendes, Carly Rae Jepsen), Jim Eliot (Elie Goulding, Kylie Minogue) and more.

Menzel has also released two children's picture books alongside her sister, Cara Mentzel, called "Loud Mouse," and "Proud Mouse" via Disney Publishing Worldwide. Both books center around self-acceptance and being true to yourself.

This should have been an outstanding concert . . .

by Owlman on 9/4/17Jacobs Music Center's Copley Symphony Hall - San Diego

But, alas, it was definitely not!!! Not because of the unbelievably talented star or her marvelous program of songs. It all had to do with the sound system and engineering. This concert was held in the beautiful Copley Symphony Hall--a venue well known for intimate performances. Yet the sound system made it sound like it was in the god-awful Viejas/Sports Arena. It was so over amplified and the reverb was so extreme, that I only managed to understand about 1 word out of 10 (no exaggeration!) of those songs to which I did not already know the words, or when Idina spoke to the audience. I was definitely not alone. My wife just shut down completely. People around us were plugging their ears with tissues and earplugs. Our daughter and I hung in there because we love this artist so much. This concert definitely would have been a 5-star performance. However, my real rating should be only 3 stars, but I just couldn't in good conscience berate this performer, so I kicked it up one star.. It may well have been that the problem was where we were seated. Apparently the concert didn't sell out completely, so our reserved seats in the Mezzanine (our preference area for sitting) were "upgraded" to Row L of the Orchestra. We had a marvelous view of the performance and it should have been great, but it was like the sound completely passed over our heads and we got to just hear an echoey, distant presentation. Interestingly, Idina sung "For Good" A Capella with no amplification whatsoever. That was incredible and I understood every word she sang.

These tickets were a gift to my wife for her 61st birthday. The show was wonderful. The music was as beautiful as we'd expected, and we especially enjoyed how personal Idina made it all feel. We're planning to see her again.

She has such an amazing voice, and is really very entertaining. And it is soooo cute she lets the kids up on stage to sing with her during Let It Go!

    Great concert!

by Lido1974 on 9/1/17Jacobs Music Center's Copley Symphony Hall - San Diego

The show was much better than I expected. The band was very tallented as was the backup singer. I like how they changed up the arrangements on her popular songs and Idina really knows how to connect with the audience.

    Menzel, as usual, is masterful

by RLCtwo on 9/1/17Jacobs Music Center's Copley Symphony Hall - San Diego

Okay, I'll be the first to admit it, I am a total Idina Menzel fan, so when I had the chance to go and see her, I jumped at it. She did not disappoint. For almost two hours, she sang, cracked jokes, revved up her fans (and there were a lot of them) with clapping and sing-alongs, getting the audience involved with what was going on up on stage. The only time she stopped singing was to let the back up band and singers have a moment of the spotlight. There was no intermission, just uninterrupted music. Her music choices varied and were all over the musical chart. Yes, of course she did 'Defying Gravity' and 'For Good' from 'Wicked,' and 'Let It Go' and 'Do you Want to Build a Snowman?' from 'Frozen.' That was not only expected, it would have been demanded by the audience. She brought up a good number of children from the audience and did a sing along of 'Let it Go' with them, which the majority of the kids enjoyed (There's always the one child that gets scared and starts to cry, but Idina took it in stride). I can't say enough good things about this concert.

by Marylou1950 on 8/30/17Vina Robles Amphitheatre - Paso Robles

It was an honor to be entertained by Idina Menzel in Paso Robles on August 27, 2017. She is a premier talent of our time, and her concert also allowed us to glimpse the remarkable woman that she is. She is so natural and alive with an audience. A beautiful woman and a beautiful evening.

    Idina never disappoints!

by Storywemoon on 8/30/17Vina Robles Amphitheatre - Paso Robles

We are diehard fans and were once again blown away by her range, presence and graciousness. Her band was amazing and her respect for them showed. It was a shame that it wasn't well attended except that it created a more intimate experience with true fans of all her work.

    Glorius Idina Menzel

    by TuTi88 on 8/29/17Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

What a set of vocal cords!!! I think Idina surpassed Mariah Carey's upper range of musical notes. And Idina is so wonderfully gracious with the children who joined her on the stage to sing "Let It Go".

    Worth The Front Row Seats

by Ssquard on 8/29/17Grand Sierra Resort and Casino - Reno

Idina is an incredible performer. Not only does she have a great voice, she has a wonderful collection of performances to draw from. Whether you have seen her on Broadway, in a movie theatre or on TV you get to see a fabulous performer. Her live concert brings that all together to provide her fans and audience a very special experience. Idina's team are also great performers, and she gives them all the recognition they deserve. She starts solo performances early and throughout the concert. The group is excellent and very energetic. We were impressed with both the Celloist & violinist. The vocal harmony was great too. The ability and desire that Idina showed to engage her audience gets everyone engaged and entertained. Her final act at the front of the stage with children was as special as the entire concert. We took photos, videos and were enthralled by the tenderness and concern Idina displayed while letting a couple dozen children fans of Frozen to be stars.

    Idina Is Fabulous

by Merbers on 8/29/17Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

Idina is incredible with kids. She had them on stage and singing with her. It was adorable. She started 30 minutes late and some of the children were already falling asleep. Not her fault, but still, for the parents, somewhat dismaying. When she sang A Capella, she has a wonderful voice. However she only did that once. The remainder of the time, the amplification was so far above what was required that it was distorted and hard to understand what she was singing. That is the fault of the sound tech and should never happen.

    Amazing Performer

by CalifDan on 8/29/17Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

Idina delivered. She has such an amazing voice, and as an experienced Broadway performer (as opposed to many just-plain singers, she entertains. A pleasure to watch someone like this in person. One note of caution. She started the concert 25-30 minutes late, which I feel is totally unnecessary. She's not a diva, so she should respect the time commitment of her fans who get there on time.
