About

Menzel is a Tony-Award winning, powerhouse multi-hyphenate: a singer, an actress in film and TV, a songwriter, a Broadway star, and a philanthropist. She rose to fame for her role as Maureen in the popular Broadway musical Rent, and her career took off when she won a Tony Award for her role as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, in the smash musical Wicked.

Her voice can be heard as Elsa in Disney's Oscar® winning Frozen, the second highest grossing animated films of all time, with more than $1.2 billion in worldwide box office revenue. The film's song "Let It Go", voiced by Menzel, became an instant international phenomenon, winning the Oscar® for Best Original Song-where Menzel performed it at the ceremony-and the Grammy® Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media. The track reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Menzel the first artist with both a Billboard Top 10 hit and a Tony Award for acting. Menzel received the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award at Billboard's annual Women in Music event in 2014 and performed the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLIX.

A skillful songwriter, Menzel's prolific recording career includes multiple cast albums and the solo albums: Still I Can't Be Still, Here, I Stand and idina, which landed in the Top 30 on Billboard's Top 200 charts upon its release in 2016. She's released 2 holiday-themed albums, Holiday Wishes, which debuted at #1 on Billboard's Holiday Albums chart and gave Menzel a Top 10 album on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and its 2019 follow-up, Christmas: A Season of Love featuring duets with Ariana Grande, Billy Porter, Josh Gad and Idina's husband, Aaron Lohr.

This past fall, Menzel released her electrifying dance project Drama Queen via BMG. The project is a departure from what she's released in the past, as Menzel showcases her powerhouse vocals through disco-infused beats and soaring anthems. Idina worked with award-winning collaborators including Nile Rodgers (Chic, Diana Ross, Beyonce), Justin Tranter (Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez), Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters), Sir Nolan (Shawn Mendes, Carly Rae Jepsen), Jim Eliot (Elie Goulding, Kylie Minogue) and more.

Menzel has also released two children's picture books alongside her sister, Cara Mentzel, called "Loud Mouse," and "Proud Mouse" via Disney Publishing Worldwide. Both books center around self-acceptance and being true to yourself.

    amazing experience!

    by katherineqin13 on 7/15/21

saw idina when i was twelve lol. i loved her and knew her from wicked the musical, not frozen, so that was my entire personality for a while haha. i had pretty good seats and she ofc has an amazing voice and i definitely missed some of her humor but she was funny and talkative. she performed hits from wicked and rent, let it go (ofc), various covers, and other original songs. honestly even though i was probably the youngest person in the venue i still had an awesome night and i’m so glad i saw her!

    Idina!

by Janine on 12/13/19The Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino - Mashantucket

Idina was simply amazing! She was engaging and personable and her voice was incredible. The venue was perfect as she wasn't a small, far away speck on a stage. She was a great performer and I loved watching her do her thing. I was surprised there was no merchandise available for sale, but I can find it other ways. This was right up in my top 5 concerts ever!

    Fantastic!

by Julie on 12/11/19The Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino - Mashantucket

Idina has that big broadway voice, so anything she sings is powerful and wonderful. I wasn’t expecting to hear mostly holiday songs, that’s what it was. Initially I was disappointed because I LOVE her famous songs. But once she started singing, I couldn’t help but feel Christmasy. And she did play her most famous songs. She was also personable with the audience, having kids help sing “let it go”.

Amazing Performance - Audience needs help

by J on 12/9/19Caesars Atlantic City - Atlantic City

First I want to start by saying that Idina Menzel puts on an amazing, 5-star performance. I've seen her live a number of times, in a number of venues, and it's always incredible. If you have the chance to see her perform live, do it! The venue at Caesar's Atlantic City is a nice intimate theater, comfortable seats, well spaced, and great sound. HOWEVER - they need to do something about their audience. It was embarrassing how many people were still stumbling in well past the concert start time, and while the performance was going on. One woman came in late with a light up headband on! There must be something that can be done to cut down on latecomers, given that I've never seen this happen at any other venue, other than arenas. And while most of the audience was respectful (once in their seats), a few made the experience one of my least favorite concerts to date. The people directly behind us were obnoxiously loud, talking over the performer and singing far too loud. Then when the audience had the PRIVILEGE of the artist coming down off stage, one drunk woman, who had been escorting an older lady (who was in a wheel chair and easily over 90 years old), took advantage of the situation, attempted to get a drunk selfie with the artist, and the venue staff did NOTHING. It was very uncomfortable to witness, and I can only imagine how unsettling it must have felt for Idina Menzel. She handle herself beautiful, but it put the audience to shame. I'm still dumbfounded that the ushers, who walked up and down the aisles to stop video recordings, did not remove the woman who was being inappropriate with the star of the show. In the future, if there's another option for a venue close by, other than Caesar's Atlantic City, I'll choose that. We love coming to AC for concerts, and have been to several at the Borgata - but will rethink this venue in the future.

    Christmas Concert

by Elman on 12/9/19Caesars Atlantic City - Atlantic City

Idina Menzel lent her powerful voice to Christmas songs and carols. In addition, she sang her hits, "Defying Gravity" from Wicked, "Let It Go" from Frozen and "Seasons of Love" from Rent. Twenty back up band members/singers accompanied her.

    Amazing

by StephJG223 on 10/26/17Jacobs Music Center's Copley Symphony Hall - San Diego

It was an incridible night. I bought a Vip ticket for the first road and she was perfect and funny. At the end she went to the front to shake hands, and my heart drop when she took mine. If you have the opportunity you need to go.♡♡♡
