Excellent performance at a much-needed time

    by DocMac on 5/12/23

We attended the last performance of this show at the Royal George Theatre on Friday, March 13, 2020, the day before the world shut down for Covid. We learned so much about Lenny Bruce and know, now more than ever, the world needs someone like him. What would he have thought about Covid??? Additionally, the audience was small because of the hesitation at the time to attend a large indoor gathering. But Ronnie spent 45 minutes after the performance with our small group talking about Lenny and his influence as well as the ability for theatre to bring people together, especially in hard times. I wholly recommend it. Btw, I need to respond to the person who was disappointed that this wasn't a comedy show. Lenny Bruce made people laugh because of the truths he told, but his life was tragic. That's what the show is about, and Ronnie Marmo brings Lenny to life.

    by S. M. on 3/10/20Royal George Theatre - Chicago

I really wasn’t sure to expect, but was absolutely blown away! Don’t miss your chance to see this fantastic production! You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll learn. I hope to see it again before it leaves Chicago. Ronnie Marmo is fantastic, and so humble. Really, if you’re thinking about going, just do it!

The actor was good but it was boring. Certainly not comedic.

    90 Minutes with Lenny Bruce

by Ann on 2/12/20Royal George Theatre - Chicago

My title says it all... I felt as though I was transported back in time, watching the “real” Lenny Bruce. I say that sincerely because Ronnie Marmo has made a remarkable transformation ... it’s kinda freaky! The content of the play is spot on for current times. And even if you know the saga of Lenny Bruce, you will build on that and have a very rich experience.

    Excellent show

by PoolQueen on 2/12/20Royal George Theatre - Chicago

This was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Ronnie Marmo is fantastic as Lenny Bruce. He tells you the story of how Lenny Bruce paved the way for many comedians of our time. It is a one man show, and Ronnie is the man. He is emotional and exciting to watch. He tells the story in the first person. I recommend it highly, even if you don't know who Lenny Bruce was. I learned a lot about our times then and now. The Royal George Theater is small, perfect for this play. It is probably a lot like the theaters where Lenny did his act.

    Go see this now!

by DannyDaCat on 2/11/20Royal George Theatre - Chicago

Emotional, powerful, funny and tragic. The life of Lenny Bruce is portrayed beautifully and sadly by Ronnie Marmo, pulling you into a world full of emotional struggle of an individual alive at a time when no one in power would listen to common sense and the truth in front of their very eyes, and the powerlessness of a single individual to alter the tide, but endeavored and succeeded to become a tsunami decades later, affecting so many others to speak up and out.
