About
I LOVE LUCY® LIVE ON STAGE is the brand-new hit stage show adapted from the most beloved program in television history! America’s favorite foursome – Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel – is live on stage and in color for the very first time!
It’s 1952 and you are a member of the studio audience awaiting the filming of two hilarious and oh-so-familiar I LOVE LUCY® episodes. Imagine stepping back in time onto the Desilu Playhouse soundstage where a charming host entertains and enlightens you to the behind-the-scenes filming process, the 1950s hi-fidelity technology and this brand-new thing called “television.” The episodes begin and you witness, firsthand, the side-splitting antics of that crazy redhead in the Ricardo’s New York apartment and thrill to the Cuban sounds of “The Ricky Ricardo Orchestra” at the famed Tropicana Nightclub. In-between scenes? The Crystaltone Singers perform live advertising jingles of the show’s newest sponsors in perfect 50s style harmony. Can you say “Brylcreem?!”
L.A. Examiner’s Ron Irwin says I LOVE LUCY® LIVE ON STAGE is “an absolutely brilliant and utterly engaging tribute to that iconic television show!” TV Guide’s William Keck calls it, “the most entertaining stage production I’ve seen in years – including Broadway!”
The truth is in the title – whether young or old, everybody really does LOVE LUCY!

by Jewels1414 on 3/24/15Times Union Ctr Perf Arts Moran Theater - JacksonvilleRicky was spot on did a great job. Lucy was not so much . I just could not seem to hear Lucy's voice in her or her usual sayings... I would like to have seen them do an actual scene the show did... Vitavita veggamin or the grape stomping scene. Fred was nothing like his real character on the show.
Rating: 1 out of 5 I Love Lucy was disappointing!
by Nella1947 on 3/21/15Times Union Ctr Perf Arts Moran Theater - JacksonvilleMy husband and I took his sister for her birthday. All three of us thought the show was extremely weak and disappointing. We've seen much better high school performances! We suffered through the first act and then walked out.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Lots of laughs
by WelshWizard on 3/19/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaHad a very good time at this show. Lots of laughs but I do think you have to be a Fan of the Lucy form of humor as some in the audience were hardly laughing at all. The show takes you back to the DesiLu studios in California to watch the filming of. Two episodes of the show. Including the corny commercials of the time. Lucy and Ricky were spot on with a terrific supporting cast. My only criticism was that the show ran for 1 hour 45 minutes with no intermission which makes things a bit uncomfortable towards the end.

Rating: 3 out of 5 I Love Lucy was likable, but not lovable
by RS72 on 3/18/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaI Love Lucy is a very imaginative concept. The fact that you're watching a live theater show meant to depict the live taping of a TV show which itself was part show and part reality (since Desi and Lucy were really married) is quite a convoluted concept. They pulled it off quite well, and I must say it was unique. The characters playing Ethel, Fred, Ricky and Lucy were spectacular likenesses of the real characters. Ricky had the tone, inflection and accent of the real deal. And same goes for Lucy...plus her facial expressions had me thinking that the real Lucy was on stage. The casting in itself was the real treat...and I'd recommend seeing this show simply on that alone. The story line itself was the low point...and was lacking. The 'commercials' got very old very quickly...and they were painfully long and boring. The first few times it was cute, but after that I started cringing every time the crystal singers got on stage. Would have much preferred a third 'taping' of another episode of an I Love Lucy show...instead of all of the commercials. Also, this is the first live performance I've ever been to that did not have an intermission! It wasn't a deal breaker...although would have been nice to know that in advance. So just be aware you won't have a bio break during this ~100-minute performance.
Rating: 5 out of 5 I Love Lucy, Live! Beat ALL EXPECTATIONS!!!!
by Lucowici on 3/18/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaHaving been a Lucille Ball fan since birth and having seen ALL of the I Love Lucy TV series countless times, this play truly surpassed every expectation I had going into the theatre. The cast had the mannerisms down pat. A great job by all cast members. The costumes were also very well done. Very talented actors - OUTSTANDING!!!!!
Rating: 4 out of 5 Good Fun!
by Iceberglettuce on 3/18/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaBeing in my early sixties it was a quite enjoyable 90 or so minutes of nostalgia. The actors were energetic and talented and most of the voices of the characters were spot on with the originals. Even the 'commercials' were very well done and laugh provoking!
Rating: 3 out of 5by Anonymous on 3/18/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta I am a true I love lucy fan. This play was cute but really through me off because the character that played lucy had a southern accent. It bothered me. I did appreciate them explaining how the show was made.
Rating: 3 out of 5 ILL, Live! I Was Underwhelmed
by LucyFan77 on 3/18/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - AtlantaI thought there would be funnier content and more side-splitting laughs but it was just "ok" in my opinion. :-/
