About

Home Free on Tour

Though Home Free are primarily considered a country group, the quintet's concerts are quite a bit more. First and foremost, they're a vocal act in the a cappella tradition, which means they know how to make five voices sound like a full band even without any instruments on the stage. They pull off this impressive achievement by incorporating lush harmonies, beatboxing and vocal counterpoint that harkens back to doo-wop and barbershop. While recent years have found Home Free moving toward a more country-based sound, with a repertoire that includes the likes of Vince Gill, Blake Shelton and Maren Morris, they also venture into plenty of other areas when they perform live. A cappella versions of tunes made famous by Ed Sheeran, Shakira or The O'Jays are just as likely to enter their performance repertoire.

Home Free in Concert

The a cappella phenomenon known as Home Free came into being in Mankato, Minnesota, in 2000 when five young men, including brothers Adam and Chris Rupp, joined their voices together for the first time. Their repertoire was all over the map, including country, pop, soul and rock 'n' roll. The group eventually hit the road hard, and began releasing albums on their own label in 2007 starting with From the Top. But things changed in a big way for Home Free when they won the TV competition show The Sing-Off in 2013. By that time they'd become more country-oriented, and after earning a record deal with Sony/Columbia their albums started regularly entering the upper rungs of country charts. Several personnel changes occurred over the years, the biggest when Chris Rupp departed in 2016, but in their current incarnation Home Free still bring the a cappella magic to the stage every time.

    Home Free,,,not to be missed!

by JeanneK410 on 12/7/14Scottish Rite Auditorium - Collingswood

Even though two of the guys weren't feeling well[Rob and Austin], they lived up to the old adage of the show must go on! And so it did!! Lots of fun, great singing and standing O's for the guys!! Keep up the good work.

    Best Concert Ever!

by LuluVohn on 12/7/14Scottish Rite Auditorium - Collingswood

Home Free put on an amazing show! The first act was mainly from their Holiday CD, but the second act included a lot of the great hits from their first album. The guys looked like they were having a lot of fun and their energy was infectious. I loved every minute!

    Surprisingly good

by ReeRee1 on 12/5/14NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

Group actually turned out to be excellent. Unfortunately there was a very small attendance which at first had me concerned. I had never heard of them before. Only went because my friend knew of them and she wanted to go. Was very impressed with the show. Only criticism is that they could have been better groomed.

Great way to start the holiday season.

by 1966JB on 12/5/14Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

Loved hearing the Christmas music and some of the oldies. Home free is a great group that makes you feel like the audience is extended family. Love their humor and interaction with the audience and their music is beautiful. This was our third time seeing them in concert and we can't wait to go again.

Home Free made my hubby a believer!

by JWMinne on 12/4/14Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

I made my husband go with me to this concert eventhough he was not sure who Home Free was and is not a big country fan. (nor am I, actually) Within the first few songs my husband was constantly laughing and commenting about how completely entertaining they were. By the end of the concert we were both wanting MORE, MORE, MORE. Will definitely go see them again.

by Paula100 on 12/3/14Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

We were introduced to Home Free when we watched them on the Sing-Off. So we were really looking forward to hearing more from them. They did not disappoint. Not only are they incredibly skilled singers but they are also very funny and down to earth. The whole show was very entertaining. I appreciated that it was a mix of holiday songs and other favorites of theirs.

HOME FREE was AMAZING as usual

by HomeFreeDieHardFan on 12/3/14Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

This was my 4th Home Free concert and each show has been better than the last. This group is so talented. Their harmonies are beautiful, the show is entertaining and energetic. What a great start to the Christmas season. They sang a variety of Christmas songs, from traditional hymns with arrangements by Chris Rupp, to new songs written by TIm Foust, with a variety of other songs thrown in. It is very obvious the group has a great rapport with each other as well as with the audience. Adam Rupp performed his Drum solo to a standing ovation, He is world class. And Austin Brown brought down the house with his rendition of "Bring Him Home". If you get a chance to see Home Free, take the opportunity. You won't regret it.

First time to hear and see Home Free. They are fantastic and put on an outstanding show. Enjoyed every number and the happiness they displayed. Their appearance was clean as was the show. Lots of laughs and spirit throughout made the time fly almost too quickly. Two of them, the Rupp boys have roots in my little hometown of Westbrook, MN. That is how I became interested in them. Trust they have a great career...
