About

Home Free on Tour

Though Home Free are primarily considered a country group, the quintet's concerts are quite a bit more. First and foremost, they're a vocal act in the a cappella tradition, which means they know how to make five voices sound like a full band even without any instruments on the stage. They pull off this impressive achievement by incorporating lush harmonies, beatboxing and vocal counterpoint that harkens back to doo-wop and barbershop. While recent years have found Home Free moving toward a more country-based sound, with a repertoire that includes the likes of Vince Gill, Blake Shelton and Maren Morris, they also venture into plenty of other areas when they perform live. A cappella versions of tunes made famous by Ed Sheeran, Shakira or The O'Jays are just as likely to enter their performance repertoire.

Home Free in Concert

The a cappella phenomenon known as Home Free came into being in Mankato, Minnesota, in 2000 when five young men, including brothers Adam and Chris Rupp, joined their voices together for the first time. Their repertoire was all over the map, including country, pop, soul and rock 'n' roll. The group eventually hit the road hard, and began releasing albums on their own label in 2007 starting with From the Top. But things changed in a big way for Home Free when they won the TV competition show The Sing-Off in 2013. By that time they'd become more country-oriented, and after earning a record deal with Sony/Columbia their albums started regularly entering the upper rungs of country charts. Several personnel changes occurred over the years, the biggest when Chris Rupp departed in 2016, but in their current incarnation Home Free still bring the a cappella magic to the stage every time.

    Home Free show was outstanding!!!!!

by jzqypm on 12/8/14Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

Home Free is a country a capella group, however until you see them live you swear that there are instruments. They take a song and make it their own. Five guys that sound like a full group with a band. If they come anywhere near you don't miss the chance to see them live, guarantee you'll love it. Will be keeping my eye out for the next show I can attend. Consoling myself with their 2 CD's Crazy Life and Full of Cheer the new Christmas CD. Available at most retail outlets check them out and then go to Ticketmaster and order your tickets if they come anywhere near you!

Your Holidays will be better if you see Home Free

by NBHF on 12/8/14Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center - Chester

They are magnificent musicians with unbelievable voices and remarkable comedic timing. These five young men are talented, handsome, full of energy and joy. Definitely bring tissues - they might make you cry with achingly sweet and heartfelt lyrics or you may need to touch up your mascara from laughing so hard. Songwriter (and bass) Tim Foust can do both. Chris Rupp's arrangement and Rob Lundquist's execution of Angels We Have Heard On High will blow you away. Adam Rupp's ability as vocal percussionist is unmatched - his solo will leave you gasping. I would pay to see tenor Austin Brown just to look at him. However, his powerful and soaring voice make him a star in any musical genre. If you have a chance to see them - take it! If not watch them on You Tube - it will ensure a bright and Merry Christmas.

    Home Free Rocks!

by 71DJ on 12/8/14Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center - Chester

This was my second Home Free concert in a month (also saw them in Boston in early November) and once again they delivered! The group obviously enjoys working together and it shows on stage, they are having as much fun as the audience. Their sense of humor is infectious and suitable for all ages (so refreshing!). And their arrangements of classic Christmas carols were fresh without losing the classic touches we all grew up with and love.

    Fun, funny, amazing

by BEKBuick on 12/8/14Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center - Chester

These guys are so talented. Not only are they a great a Capella band, but they are fun PERFORMERS as well, with personality & stage presence. The 5 guys each let their individual personalities show through. They engage the audience & make it fun throughout. The show is not super-long, but this is to be expected when these guys (especially the beat boxer) are working so hard.

Home Free concert was awesome! Soooo talented!!

by teachrmk on 12/8/14Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center - Chester

First of all- these guys are extremely talented!! No auto tune here. Second, these guys are very funny.... we smiled the entire show. Their voices are so beautiful together and you'll swear there is music playing, but it is all them- all a capella!! But, they are no barber shop quartet. Singing new versions of today's hits, their own original tunes and in part of this concert - their own take on some Christmas favorites. And, Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center is a great venue. I can't recommend them any more highly. And, I can't wait for another chance to see them live! Love their 2 current CDs.... Crazy Life and Full of Cheer!!

    Home Free was the best!

by MissAly on 12/7/14Scottish Rite Auditorium - Collingswood

We had the best time! 2nd row seats with no one in front of us! My Mom (who's a picky person) had never been to one of their concerts before and loved it. All of the guys are hilarious and have such amazing talent! I've been a fan since 2011 when I saw them perform on a cruise I was on. We also got to meet them after the show. They were all so gracious and signed autographs! Just wish the concert could have been a little longer and we could have met with them a little longer!

Home Free, well truly there are no words.

by grammyw21 on 12/7/14Scottish Rite Auditorium - Collingswood

I have been following Home Free for a year now since their first appearance on The Sing Off which they won. They are an amazing group of young men. Their voices are incredible. Their shows are a variety of covers and songs that have been written by members. They are very unselfish as to who has solos, who's in the spotlight and that can change multiple times during the course of one song. Often their lyrics are humorous or they can move you to tears. They guys can be funny or reverent but either way their sound (using no instruments other than their voices) is breathtaking!

    Fantastic!

by jfmhomefry on 12/7/14Scottish Rite Auditorium - Collingswood

If they're coming to a town near you, BUY TICKETS! Knew the concert would be good but it even exceeded my expectations... They added some fun elements and creativity to the show and they seemed to be enjoying it as much as the audience. I think they just keep getting better and better. Their harmonizing is the best!

    Home Free never dissappoints.

by njhomefry on 12/7/14Scottish Rite Auditorium - Collingswood

I've been following Home Free since the Sing-Off. Watching them as they grow, and improve has been very fun. The talent, and arrangements are without question. They have grown a lot in personality, fun, audience interaction, and generally just being great guys! I would recommend everyone who has the opportunity, should see them live! The harmony on the Full of Cheer cd is so well done. Amazing arrangements of O Holy Night, Angels We Have Heard, and Silent Night. Along with I'll Be Home for Christmas. And Adam's arrangement of Do You Hear What I hear is superior! have arrange more often! Love these guys!
