    Slightly underwhelmed

by Deanobz on 8/11/18Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

50 bucks did get me a good seat down front but that really the only good part. I've seen the happy together tour twice and was expected something similar. This was less of a production. Music was good and the old guys still have it but this was more the Rick Derringer show with Vanilla Fudge as the main act. No encore no tee shirt sales just a very matter of fact show.

    a mixed bag

by 0scr on 8/11/18Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

hippifest featured 4 acts. the first was the lead singer from bad finger. he was backed by musicians who were ok. he sang three or four songs, was very personable and he was done. next came Mitch Ryder and the Detroit wheels. he was backed by the same musicians who included 1 Detroit wheel. I enjoyed Mitch Ryder 's too short set. he can still sung. Rick Derrunger was next. after hang on sloopy I was disappointed. his set was too long. then came the night's highlight, Vanilla Fudge. they rocked. these guys were excellent musicians and singers and should be headlining.

    HippieFest

by MeMerry on 8/11/18Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

We were a bit disappointed. Guess we like The Happy Together Tour type-show rather than the heavier music from these bands. Guess it depends on what type of hippie you were back in the 60's!! We were more "flower child" types!

    Vanilla Fudge was forgettable

by Flatline51 on 8/11/18Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

Bad Company, Real McCoys and Mitch Ryder were lots of fun. Rick Deringer especially is an excellent performer. Vanilla Fudge was horrible. They have a big ego and thei songs were unidentifiable. The other performers were playing upbeat songs and Vanilla Fudge was a real downer.

Decent, but needs some different groups!

by Corkyson on 8/11/18Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

Rick Derringer is a talented guitarist and song writer, but his solo was far too long! Joey Molland had some good hits, but tone was not there. Mitch Ryder sounded ok depsite having throat surgery last year and Vanilla Fudge was last group and average at best! Decent concert, but not as good as last month's Happy Together concert!

    Hippie Fest

by jolly53 on 8/9/18Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

They all still sound great for being in their 70's. Loved the songs.

    Amazing Show!

by Tingler on 8/8/18Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

This show brought back a lot of great memories from the 60's and 70's. The musicianship was amazing. I was really surprised at how well these guys played and sang, many of whom were original members of the bands. Rick Deringer was phenomenal on the guitar, as well as in his vocals. When he did Frankenstein with a 3 piece band, I was floored. And the Vanilla Fudge's harmonies were spot on. I would defintely recommend this show to anyone who wants to hear some great rock and roll by some great bands.

    Nostalgist HippieFest

by SandraLynn on 8/8/18Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

Excellent musicians! Brings back fun memories. I enjoyed the concert. However, compared to other hippie fests, I missed the beginning party with local bands, shopping booths, and food/drink booths. It also lacked the variety of bands of past hippie fests.

    Hippiefest fiasco

by Hippiefestdisappointment on 8/8/18Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

The first 30 minutes was great. Then it became a solo guitarist event. I’ll never go again. It was a huge waste of $90 and two hours of our time.

    RIP OFF

by Anonymous on 8/8/18Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

Not at all worth the cost, would have been ok for a free out door concert, but not for $70.00 per ticket. Not one hippie type song. Old has been. Just not the right bands, not the right music to be called a Hippie Fest. Previous Hippie Fest years ago was much better.

    Poor showing

by Len79 on 8/1/18NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

I was not impressed by the sound at the venue nor the artist's performances. Best performance of the night goes out to Mitch Ryder and RIck Derringer. Vanilla Fudge was flat and some of the performers looked disconnected and like they wanted to be elsewhere. Sound was poor and unbalanced throughout the night. Something was off. Fudge even made a sarcastic call out to the sound crew because they realized an issue. FInal insult was the abrupt curfew at 10 pm without an encore. I felt my mother called them up and said it was time for me to go home. Time afterward was spent by some on a long meet and greet line to sign paraphernalia by the artists.Poor showing overall.

    Vanilla Fudge was incredible

by Rockdrummer54 on 7/30/18NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

Denny Lane cant sing anymore hang it up ! Please let us remember you as you were.. Mitch was good not great.. Rick Derringer was pretty good but he and his band made mistakes backing up all the stars...its like they just winged it ... They needed to take their job way more seriously and rehearse with the stars. It made it a B or C level performance , no matter how good you are you still need to rehearse to deliver a world class show . The roof of the theater in section F was leaking bigtime when it poured that night, we and many others had to change our seats. Tell ncby they need to make roof repairs fast before a disaster happens

    Disappointed

by BarryVine on 7/30/18NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

The show was way too short. Badfinger was excellent. Mitch Ryder spent more time talking than playing music. Rick Derringer was awful. The Fudge were good!

    Hippiefest-not really!

by Whyzer on 7/30/18NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

It was disappointing at best. More like a group of ego-driven solo performances. The focus was on solo's and not group performances and when they came together, especially Vanilla Fudge it was a mess. You'd think that after 50 years of playing as a group that they would have it together. Highlights........Rick Deringer solo, the man can play, and Mitch Ryder was genuine and very cool. However, the next time this comes around I'll pass.

    Rick Derringer

by Lanjulie on 7/30/18NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

I'm not sure why this concert was labeled "Hippiefest". The concert was way too short. I arrived 10mins. late and missed Badfinger! This concert could have been called Rick Derringer and Friends and a lot more tickets would have been sold. To see all of these super talented legends was INCREDIBLE. Mitch Ryder!!!!! OMG! So cool! Rick Derringer-- probably one of the best rock and roll guitarist and song writers of all times. I was riveted to my seat. And Vanilla Fudge!!!! Their version of " People Get Ready"!--so powerful. To see and hear their legendary "You Keep Me Hanging On" live was insane!!! Their unique talent is being able to pull the rock, roll and blues out of any song, then play the heck out of it--because they are each so talented as musicians. YEAH BABY! Rock is all about loud, but the Vanilla Fudge can bring it down to a silence --not a pin drop in a theater full of people, and it's those silences that make rock all the more poignant. I wished all the bands would have come out at the end and jammed! I wish the monitors would have shown some of the old pictures of them from back in the day. That's when it really gets your heart.

    Great Show!

by Magnolia649 on 7/30/18NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

This show was really spectacular, and we had a really great time. NCBY Theatre at Westbury is one of the best venues I have ever seen concerts in. There are no bad seats there. The lineup was spectacular--Rick Derringer and a band of really great musicians, Badfinger, Mitch Ryder, and Vanilla Fudge. Great music and wonderful memories!
