    Another Wonderful Felder Performance

by BlueGOPDemon on 12/6/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

After seeing Felder's Gershwin show, I was looking forward to seeing him perform another one-man show...and the wait was well worth it. Felder perfectly captures Bernstein and convey's the Maestro's emotions, traits, habits, and dreams with the audience, just as if we were listening to Bernstein himself. As always, the music is wonderful and breaks up the dialogue just the right amount of times. The beginning is a little slow (and with a very Jewish theme, which is required to fully understand Bernstein but can catch some people off guard) but it picks up beautifully. A must-see performance!

    Bernstein comes alive

by LB88 on 12/5/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

Hershey Felder presented a compelling picture of Bernstein's life from his earliest days to his NY Phil debut to his family, dreams and disappointments. Hershey has amazing talent as an actor, musician, story teller and dramatist. I still think is incredible when Lenny was asked to look at a symphonic score and play a few pages at the piano, which he did. If you are a Bernstein fan, get a ticket fast. You will not be disappointed.

    zzzzzzz

by sdiamond3208 on 12/3/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

Maestro was a disappointment. I'm a Felder fan, but it felt like he didn't really have enough material to work with. The piano playing was limited, and I could swear I heard music even when Hershey Felder wasn't near the keyboard... but that could of been my imagination. Basically, the play was boring, I slept through most of it. My recco - skip it.

    Leonard Bernstein come to life

by Bandol on 11/28/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

Great one man show ! Terrific music and story telling. Hershey makes Bernstein come alive. I remember Bernstein's Sunday night TV show and the young peoples concerts. He was a true celebrity conductor who brought classical music to the masses. Took my kids ages 14 and 17, they loved it as well.

    Hershey Felder's Maestro was wonderful

by jcjjlf on 11/28/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

This is the third of Mr. Felder's shows that we have seen and have thoroughly enjoyed them all. Not only are they wonderfully entertaining, but informative as well. He has continued with his portrayal of Leonard Bernstein.

    Show worth seeing

by RogW on 11/28/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

Another amazing performance from Hershey Felder. The presentation was a different format than his previous shows. Still delightful and entertaining, but a little less music. Certainly worth seeing.

    Another flawless performance

by Olidun on 11/28/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

Felder once again (after Gershwin, Beethoven and Chopin) delivers a wonderful and moving representation of Bernstein's life. He presents his insecurities and life style choices with compassion. It was a most enjoyable evening.

Maestro: the Art of Leonard Bernstein

by titian51 on 11/23/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

I have seen all of the one-act performances by Mr. Felder. Since this portrayal is of someone I actually remember, It is harder to be objective but he was superb. I was moved to tears several times. I hope he keeps finding these characterizations which show off his multiple talents so well. Thank you, Mr. Felder!

Hershey Felder shows once again that he's a terrific actor, a very good singer and extraordinary piano player. His portrayal of Bernstein is thoroughly riveting, from beginning to end. If you enjoy musical theatre and/or musical history, this show is an outstanding must see!

Hershey Felder his best Performance Yet.

by Wayneo515 on 11/22/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

This show was probably one of the best of the Hershey Felder series of Composers. Gershwin and Bernstein are my favorites. Mr. Felder immerses himself into the character and you truly believe you are the only one in the audience he is speaking too. You really get an inner look into the composer's life and his love for music. I would recommend this performance to everyone who loved Bernstein's musical accomplishments.

Hershey is a talented & passionate performer. He seems to "morph" into the character so well you feel as if you are transported back in time! I have seen all his plays in this sonata and cannot wait for more! he truly loves his work!

    Maestro was unbelieveable

by lilyan on 11/22/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

From beginning to end this was an incredible performance. We have seen and loved his other one man shows, but this one was the best. He received a standing ovation and the audience was yelling Bravo at the end. What an exciting and informative program. Hershey Felder is so talented and you can clearly tell, he loves his work. I could not stop thinking about the performance the next day. I grew up watching Leonard Bernstein's children's concerts on TV on Saturday mornings and it was so special for me to attend this performance. Not to be missed.
