    Incredible Performance!

by Slo99 on 12/20/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

Mr. Felder was amazing. He is a very gifted performer; he has a beautiful voice, is an incredible piano player, and is a captivating actor. From the moment he appeard on stage I was mezmerized, fully believing that I was listening to Leonard Bernstein talk, sing and play the piano. This was my first Hershey Felder performance, and I would eagerly attend any other production that includes Mr. Felder.

    LENARD BERNSTEIN THE MAESTRO

by Anonymous on 12/20/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

THIS PLAY ABOUT LEONARD BERNSTEIN IS A SHOW ABOUT THE FORMATION OF AMERICAN MUSIC. WE ARE STILL VERY BEHIND OF THE EUROPEAN CLASSICAL MUSIC AND EUROPEAN PERFOMANCE. THEIR SENCES AND EMOTIONS AND FEELINGS ARE MUCH DEEPER THEN OURS (AMERICANS) EUROPE LIVED THROUGH RENESSANCE AND EMPIRES AND RELIGIOUS WARS AND BASIS OF IDEAS. WE LIVE HERE EVERY DAY LIVES BASED ON MONEY AND VERY VERY BASIC CONCEPTS. AND THESE BASIC CONCEPTS DON'T GIVE THE CHANCE TO FLY...... BUT MONEY CAN BRING THE BIG GENEUSES HERE TO THIS CONTINENT ,

    A fantastic performance, riveting.

by Saukco on 12/17/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

The time flew by. The story line was well crafted. The music was performed perfectly by Felder. Bernstein was a big presence in my house growing up but I knew little about him. The play unveiled a part of him and has piqued my interest. Cudos to Felder for taking the chance and building a play around a relatively contemporary figure. My wife and I enjoyed it very much.

    A Must See!

by JuniAng on 12/16/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

This show is well worth seeing. The portrayal of Bernstein was an awesome performance. Weaving composition theory, music performance and anectdotes about the life of Lenny was an exceptional undertaking. Hershey Felder was outstanding in the endeavour.

    Hershey Felder is very talented

by PamJG on 12/13/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

Hershey Felder is very talented. He does a wonderful job of telling the story, singing and playing the piano. The show was a little long however. Parts were so relaxing that I took a few naps. Overall, however, I thought it was good and interesting.

    Hershey Felder IS Leonard Bernstein!

by LagniappeSEOWriter on 12/13/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

Please do not miss this show. Hershey Felder's talent is unfathomable. He actually blurs the line between himself & Bernstein. His piano playing is skilled & passionate & his voice is very pleasant. Perhaps the most astounding part of all of Felder's characters (we have also seen & enjoyed him playing Gershwin & Chopin) is the amount of research he puts into uncovering both the character's professional & personal life and idiosyncrasies. The audience rejoiced with Bernstein's triumphs & mourned his despair and life disappointments. Go see Hershey Felder/Leonard Bernstein; you will enjoyably spend your time learning more about one of America's leading composers/conductors.

    Amazing Talent

by Steve2907 on 12/13/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

Felder becomes the embodiment of Bernstein. To have just one of Felders talents, (writer, actor, singer or pianist) would an amazing gift. But Felder has all 4 talent sets. This is a touching and amazing show. Highly, highly recommend.

    Hershey Felder in Maestro--Sound Troubles

by icommunicate on 12/11/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

We sat in Row H and found it very difficult to hear the dialog, especially over the piano playing. He is a masterful pianist but his words were unintelligible. There could of and should of been better sound management and amplification - particularly since this type of show appeals to an older audience who may have some hearing problems.
