    A Magnificent Maestro

by Dickietoo on 11/21/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

Hershey Felder's portrayal of Leonard Bernstein was brilliant and believable. His talents as an actor and musician were melded into a memorable performance. The script provided insights into the life of a man who was musically talented and yet torn by his sexuality. By the end of the show, I felt as though I had actually met Maestro Bernstein.

    Dude can play da' piano!!!

by Matthew5613 on 11/21/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

The show itself is a universally enjoyable bio of of the late great Leonard Bernstein. Hershey Felder's performance and piano virtuosity are, in and of themselves, mind-boggling. Overall, it is an enjoyable show for anyone and everyone, but an absolute must see for any piano player or piano connoisseur.

    manager helps out

by todeals on 11/20/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

This presentation of Leonard Bernstein reveals much of the personality and thoughts of the composer, conductor. I really appreciated the video which prefaced the show, which contained a demonstration of the skills needed by a conductor and the task of reading a music score. But what I really was grateful for was the kind manager, who helped me out of a predicament of stupiidity while ordering my tickets. That was above and beyond and because of that i will try to attend another show at Royal George as soon as possible. Also in the past, at a previous Hershey Felder show, we were with a dear friend, who was in a wheelchair. After the show Hershey Felder approached my friend with no hesitation and communicated with her. I will Never forget his kindness. He is truelly a wonderful person.

    Wonderful

by katsuratree on 11/19/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

As good or better than Felder's Beethoven and Gerschwin productions. He is an amazing storyteller with amazing skills as actor and pianist. The grainy clips of Bernstein's Young Peoplel's concert excerpts as overture were a great way to set the stage.

I have seen Hershey in all of his shows (Gershwin, Chopin, Beethoven) and this one, was by far, his best!!! His singing and piano playing were riviting. I was fortunate enough to have front row seats, and could stare into his beautiful brown eyes! This young man has a talent that is beyone belief! My son, who is a musician, and music teacher calls me every day to thank me for treating him to this ticket. His eyes were glued to Hershey every second of the show. Wow, this is entertainment at its' best!!!

    Chapeaux bas!

by Elba357 on 11/15/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

The four of us who attended the show are totaly in awe. We saw almost all of Mr. Felder's productions and will continue coming to his future presentations. He is such a talented artist: pianist, actor and he can sign too. We also admire his ability of imitating various accents, from Russian to German, to Hungarian, to Yiddish - always using the appropriate one. Two hours alone on the stage and he was great to the end - and beyond! - when speaking warmly to the audience. Another reason to enjoy the show was getting to know and appreciate the life and works of the prolific composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein. Very interesting.

    Another gem from Hershey Felder

by BaboM on 11/10/11Royal George Theatre - Chicago

I've seen and enjoyed Hershey Felder's one-man shows about George Gershwin and Chopin. His latest, about Leonard Bernstein, is another fascinating look at a musical giant. Felder's portrayal of Bernstein is an exciting performance, entertaining from first moment to last. His acting, singing, and piano artistry make for a captivating theatre experience. Once again, it's bravo Hershey!
